Reds @ DBacks...Game 2

  • Ironman92
    Reds win tonight 8-5
  • sherm03
    Sure hope you're right.

The approach by Reds hitters has been weak the last 2 games. It better improve tonight because Daniel Hudson is nasty. Even with Arroyo going, the D-Backs have home field advantage and the pitching edge. Hudson owned the Reds in Phoenix last year.

The Dbacks were bad last year, and the general consensus was that they would be bad this year as well. Gotta beat teams like this. Need to right the ship and win 2 of 3

Justincredible isn't there so its a loss.

As long as Upton continues/starts to hit, Im cool with the rest of the DBacks blowing.

Nice to see Phillips with a strong start, minus yesterday, to the season.

    From John Fay:

    Drew Stubbs cf
    Brandon Phillips 2b
    Joey Votto 1b
    Scott Rolen 3b
    Jonny Gomes lf
    Jay Bruce rf
    Ryan Hanigan c
    Paul Janish ss
    Bronson Arroyo p

vs. RHP Daniel Hudson. Another tough pitching matchup. Hudson has thrown 12 straight quality starts.

Looks like Dusty moved Bruce down a notch(rightfully so) like he does sometimes when he plays Bruce against a lefty to get Rolen and Gomes back to back.

The Reds hitters need to have good plate approaches all year...many of their players often turn and have bad/impatient at bats. It shows against crafty pitchers and great pitchers. They kill average pitchers and often power pitchers.

Good first AB by the Reds. Patience and going to the opposite field really pays off! Bruce at least got one run in after being badly fooled on the first pitch - he is not recognizing pitches enough to lay off when they are not the pitch he wants.

Great pitching by Arroyo to get the last two outs, both Ks. Reds get the RBIs, and Az doesn't in the first inning.

    Good start for the Redlegs.
  • Midstate01
    Great start
  • mhs95_06
Great job against the 6,7,8 hitters in the 2nd, saving the P hopefully for an out before going to the top of the order in the 3rd.
  • mhs95_06
Hanigan's 6 pitch K got Hudson up to 9 pitches for the inning and 57 thru 4 innings. Need to get to the Az bullpen for at least 2+ innings.
  • mhs95_06
Another great job by Arroyo in the 4th with 1st and 3rd and one out, getting the 7th and 8th hitters and saving the P for the 5th.
  • mhs95_06
Thom keeps talking how slow Hudson is to the plate and that Montero isn't that good of an arm, but the get Janish easily, and would have had BP easily in the 1st had the pitch not been ball 4. I'm glad to see RF hitting BP will lead-off the next inning ahead of Votto.
  • mhs95_06
    That's bad! P gets a hit to lead-off the 5th!
  • mhs95_06
Defense blows the chance to have 2 out, none on!
  • Tiger2003
He was out that is a horrible call....As the fucking Crew Chief you better get your ass in better position.

    I need this win Bronson.....

Botched call on the Johnson steal
  • mhs95_06
Did you see the smile on Johnson's face from the CF camera when McClelland called him safe on the SB!

Yah he knew he was out.....but the Ump was to lazy to get in good position...
  • mhs95_06
Arroyo with a great job pitching through the defensive and umping miscues to keep it at 2-0. Shouldn't have even had to have faced the dangerous Upton that inning.
  • mhs95_06
Arroyo, if he can get thru the 6th, then needs his mono plagued body out of the game for a pinch hitter to break the game open after patient ABs by Gomes, Bruce, Hanigan, and Janish!
