I understand how people are going to take it, and I'm sorry some people can't take a step back and look at things with the proper perspective. I don't understand why someone would get "actually pissed for a minute" for ESPN not showing Cavalier highlights. -

You obviously missed the point again (not surprised). Its about showing a fair, balanced, and accurrate report of the game. If you're going to do a game recap you should show both sides of the game, not just a spurs highlight tape from the game. Nice fail though, please continue with your Cavs trolling and we'll continue the pwnage. -

Proper perspective? Dont you mean YOUR perspective?
Personally, I could care less. Maybe Cavs fans want to see highlights of their favorite team. Why do you have a hard time understanding that? ESPn could cut out some of the shit they show on SC and show more highlights. They spent 20 minutes today asking NFL "experts" to name the Top 5 things they will miss if there is no NFL next season. Like anybody cares that Teddy Bruschi is going to miss watching Peyton Manning. Less shit, more highlights. -

It's not my perspective. It's what the masses want, and that's why ESPN is so successful. Contrary to what you want, the masses want to hear about the NFL. Sure it might be stupid, and I agree that a lot of it is, but they are only going to do segments that they think there is a demand for.KR1245;698637 wrote:Proper perspective? I couldn't care less either about Cavs highlights. But no one should be surprised to turn on Sportscenter and to not see any Cavs highlights, because the fact is that no one outside of Ohio cares about them.
The masses want to see what the stars have done and highlights. The Cavs were the featured team on Sportscenter last year, because they had the biggest star in the game and were good. Obviously things changed, and therefore, ESPN has to adjust to get a balance of supplying the demand. -
karen lotzPeople are actually bent out of shape over ESPN not showing Cavs highlights from a loss? It happens all the time and I've never seen anyone on here complain about it. The Cavs have gotten quite a bit of air time on ESPN for a team that is one of the worst in NBA history. NFL Labor situation >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cavs losing. Be glad they showed the game at all, a lot of times they don't even do that.

dude you really like to talk out of your ass. ESPN is so successful because they are a monopoly. Sports Center had no problem covering the Cavs losing streak..but nobody cares outside of ohio, so why did they show it?
Soccer is the most famous sport in the world, but ESPN shows hardly any highlights. Shouldn't they be catering to what the "mass" wants? -

Soccer is nowhere near the most popular sport in America. Which is where our version of Sportscenter is shown. It's not my perspective. It's what the masses want, and that's why ESPN is so successful. The losing streak was a story. Now the Cavs are just another bad team. New Jersey Nets went through the same exposure when they were on their losing streak last year.Pick6;698652 wrote:dude you really like to talk out of your ass. You don't honestly think soccer is the most famous sport in the US do you?
And ESPN is a monopoly because they are the best at what they do. And there is still STO, your local news, Fox Sports and a couple other competitors. -

They showed the losing streak because it was historic. A regular season game between the best team in the league and the worst team in the league isn't going to draw a lot of interest unless the Cavs won. -
Commander of AwesomeYou guys are missing the point. See above post. Nice fails.

Trailblazers beat the Kings last night. Are you mad they didn't show a couple of baskets the Kings made? -
Commander of AwesomeYeah its a slanted side of the game. Its not accurate. I could go for some more highlights and less of Dilfer/McShay talking about Cam Newton's interviews at the combine/FAIL Ford talking where Howard is going in 2 seasons.

Pick6Obviously I dont think soccer is the most popular sport in America, but I'll bet its more watched than hockey, golf, or tennis. Not that I really care that they didn't show the Cavs, I just don't buy that "ESPN only shows what people want to see and they dont show the Cavs because nobody outside of Ohio cares about them" They didnt show the Cavs because they lost. Nobody wants to see the Lebron, Brett Favre, or Melo shit all over ESPN all the time, but they showed it.
-
Fab4RunnerI completely understand why ESPN doesn't show Cavs highlights when they lose...what bothers me is when we win they STILL don't show any Cavs highlights. It's all about the other team, how they lost it, etc. But let me guess...we have no reason to be upset about that either?

Obviously ESPN also has it's own agenda. They want to promote the products that they sell and I'm really not certain how their TV deals work, but I don't see much soccer on ABC or ESPN, so that might be a reason they don't show the highlights.
The whole Favre thing was hard to understand, but I understood the fascination with Lebron and Carmelo.
If the Cavs end up with two lottery picks this offseason and can play exciting ball next season, they might very well end up more on Sportscenter. But this season is a lost cause, especially with some of the no name guys they are playing with. And no, that's not me being a Cavs hater. -
ytownfootballJesus, what a trainwreck...
It's really simple, ESPN shows only one team when covering a game in which two teams played. It doesn't detract from who they played to show the Cavs hitting a three or a fast break, it doesn't take any longer, and when your team sucks ass, you notice it. I'm no less a fan because they blow, I just want to see them doing something other than being team x's sacrificial lamb. It's reporting 101, something ESPN forgot about a loooong time ago.
I don't watch ESPN unless it's for sportscenter occasionally or a game found nowhere else, they're a prime example what happens when a monopoly runs amok. It's no fucking big deal, just a simple observation. -

Not surprised this discussion went over your head, you've proven time and again why you ended up a d3 community college and took 5 yrs to graduate. Please continue to be "that guy" your act and the pwning you take is hilarious. -
Pick6Dynasty- ESPN talked about the Cavs today. Why though? I thought only people in Ohio care about them?
-
jordo212000I'm convinced that if you studied Sportscenter now and compared it to Sportscenter of the late 90s, you would see that the current version shows substantially less highlights. For every couple of highlights, there is at least one segment featuring crap from Melrose, Broussard, or Trent Dilfer.
Add on top of that that they have agendas and leagues to push/market and you begin to understand their change in the way they cover sports -
ytownfootballUnderstanding their motives has nothing to do with viewer perspective and relative happiness with their coverage.

Probably had nothing to do with the fact they won. -
Pick6karen lotz;700174 wrote:Probably had nothing to do with the fact they won.
but why would they show something that nobody outside of ohio cares about? Sort of contradicts what dynasty says -
karen lotzWell if you want to go along with what he was saying, they were playing the Knicks, who people do care about.
