Ok, I am now in charge of where you work. I am going to go ahead and send you out to Siberia, errg I mean Sacramento. You will be locked up in that crap hole for 5 years and you have no choice. Once that 5 years is up, I am going to go ahead and deliberate where you are free to work next. We can't have too many of our key workers working in nice, attractive markets. You will probably be relocated to Oklahoma City.
Sound fair? I really don't understand why people have an issue with guys working/playing in a city of their choice. -
friendfromlowryThis has definitely become the most annoying, overbearing sports story. I think it surpasses Favre, Tiger Woods, NBA Summer 2010 free agency, etc.
-
Hb31187Lol this comes NOWHERE near Favre, Tiger, Ben Rapelisberger, Lebron, and soon to be the NFL lockout
-
friendfromlowryNot really sure what you mean with Roethlisberger or the lockout -- they're overdone stories, but they aren't talked about consistently every day, something different for months on end.
And at least with Favre there was only two options for the most point: He'll play for the Vikings, or he'll retire. But with Melo, each day these asshole NBA analysts and their "sources" have a different lead. He wants to go to to New Jersey, he wants to go to New York, he wants to stay in Denver, he's going to be traded to New York or New Jersey, now he's going to stay in Denver for the rest of the season and sign with the Knicks in the Summer, now New Jersey has pulled out of the running for him. NOW the LAKERS are making offers. A trade has been approved but it's pending his approval but oh wait he won't sign the THREE YEAR 60-PLUS MILLION DOLLAR EXTENSION. And this has basically gone on since when -- late Summer? 7-8 months? -
Hb31187Lol isnt the definition of an overdone story something thats talked abotu consistently every day for months on end?
And lol Favres situation wasnt JUST with the vikings...do you not remember the previous few years? Or the like 3 months + of tiger coverage? ect ect....this situation isnt even that bad...and the Superstar in question is leaving the team i root for and i even think that -
friendfromlowryLol here's the difference lol. Roethlisberger was talked about for days/weeks then it died. The NFL lockout doesn't get near the attention as anything else lol. I don't know what you're talking about there lol.
Lol each season it was a different team...Packers, Jets, or Vikings, lol. And he would either play for them or he wouldn't lol. There was never three or more teams, trades, extensions, lol, all involved at once lol. Then he would play and everyone would forget about it from September til February lol.
7-8 months of Melo > 3 months of Tiger right? lol

7-8 months of Melo? What the hell arey ou talking about lmao. It JUST recently started getting brought up a lot. And who cares if it was for multiple teams that Favres decisions were about? It was the SAME story every year about retirement, thats what pissed people off. Not that it was multiple teams, what does that even have to do with anything? Itd of been just as annoying if it was all with 1 team. -

thedynasty1998I don't understand why people think this is being overblown. It really hasn't been that bad. Hell for a few days we had the Pujol's contract talk which took away attention from the Carmelo story.
I think the Carmelo story is huge and once he ends up in New York it completely changes the landscape of the NBA. -

Once Carmelo's situation is settled, ESPN will be all over the Pujols story. Maybe not to this extent though because Pujols isn't the same diva that Anthony is. The Cardinals and his agent also seem to have a good handle on the situation, there have been few leaks -

I don't know if he is, or isn't. But what has been said by Carmelo that makes you think he's a diva? -
wildcats20Melo has told Denver that he isn't going to sign. He told them to do whatever they have to do to trade him. And the TEAM hasn't done that, NOT Melo.

The Brett Favre-like indecision. "I want to play in NY!" "Maybe I will re-sign with Denver!" "Does NY really want me that badly? It isn't a given I will sign there!" All the back and forth and mixed signals he is giving is driving me nuts
I just am getting tired of him and his handlers dropping scoops to ESPN that contradict a previous scoop that they had given.
I wouldn't say Melo is a Lebron-esque diva, but I would say that he is far more of a diva than Pujols. -
thedynasty1998
I understand why people don't like all the negotiating in public, but Carmelo needs to do it this way to get this done this year so he can get it in before the new CBA. He's looking at losing out on a lot of money if he doesn't get this done this years, so his handlers need to make it seem like he's more open to other possibilities, so that it forces the Knicks to make a move now rather than just waiting for free agency.jordo212000;685684 wrote:The Brett Favre-like indecision. I already commented on this.
I dont think having 6-8 of the top 10 players in the league on 2 or 3 different teams is good for the league. The league is already water downed, this will just make it worse imo -

Disagree. The league needs to be cut down to about 16 teams TOPS anyways. It may not be good for teams like the Cavs, or the Portland Trailblazers, etc. But the NBA will still make more money when there are super teams like this. You can count on that. WAYYYYY more people want to see CP3, Melo and Amare in NY rather than all three of them in separate cities with a bunch of middle of the road guys around them. -

I dont buy that. I dont want to see the Knicks and Heat battle it out for the next 6 years. Its great if you're a fan of one of those teams, if not, it would probably get old really quick.
The NBA is always saying how they are looking for the parody that the NFL has. It certainly isnt going to happen with these teams forming. -
killer_ewokI just want the Knicks to offer whatever it takes to acquire Melo. Make it happen. Get it over with.

Its gonna happen. It sounds like it might come down to Weds night or Thursday morning though. -
SQ_CraziesKR--exactly. YOU don't want to see that. Many people don't care. Many who are on the fence about the NBA are more likely to watch these mega teams. I promise you that if this happens you'll see the NBA make more money from it--and that may even happen at the same them that a few franchises are in the verge of folding.

I just have a difference of opinion on this. If I had to compare this to the NFL, I would hate to see the same 3-4 teams in the AFC/NFC title games and SB year in and year out. Can you imagine watching the Colts play th Steelers for the AFC title game for the next 5 years? Thats what would happen if Paul and Melo ended up in NY. It would be NY and Miami in the ECF every damn year. I think that would get old -
KR1245Now its getting out of control
Chris_Broussard Chris Broussard
Sources say NJ in talks w/Den to send 2 1st round picks to Den for Mozgov & either Gallinari, Chandler or Felton, if Melo traded to NYK -
SQ_CraziesThe NFL doesn't have as much parody as you seem to think it does. But to each his own.
