All-NBA teams so far?
-
wildcats20I would say Melo would be 2nd team and drop Love to 3rd.
-
wildcats20But then there's Dirk of course.
-
Hb31187Yeah, Melo would be 3rd team with Dirk IMO
-
september63I cant believe none of you have Blake Griffin in there somewhere. His numbers are better than all you have mentioned this year. Its all NBA team this year, not a career award.
-
wildcats20
That's fine. But the way this is awarded has a lot to do with what the name is. Right or wrong, it's how it works.I cant believe none of you have Blake Griffin in there somewhere. His numbers are better than all you have mentioned this year. Its all NBA team this year, not a career award.
Media guys are going to vote for someone who has produced over a number of years before they do a rookie.
But with Blake it could be different because of all the attention(rightfully so) he is getting this year. I could definitely see him sneaking on one of those teams. -
Laley23Id venture that Griffin is on the AS team and makes the All-NBA team, provided his numbers remain the same. No way he is left off, given his numbers and general play. Not to mention, he was a star before the league made him one.

You are correct. However, LBJ has won 2 MVP awards with nothing but stats. He has won as many titles as Blake Griffin. LOL -

Same as Travis Outlaw, Ramon Sessions, Charles Barkley, and Gerald Wallace. Whats your point? -

I know, but whats your point? That Griffin has inflated stats or something? Someone is better than him? There isnt a PF in the league I take over Griffin except for Pau, and its close. -

No, he won because he's been the best player in the league the last 3-4 seasons. He should have 3 MVPs. -

I don't want to defend LBJ, because he is a piece of shit, but stats simply didn't win him the MVP. The MVP is voted on before the playoffs. LBJ led the cavs to the best NBA record both years. Nice fail, but i give you credit on trying. -
Pick6no blake griffin or rondo on this list makes it a joke. griffin is a legitimate mvp candidate.

I'd still take Dirk over him, Amare, few others dpending on what your stance is on what position they play (PF/C). -

Thats fine. I disagree, and would take Griffin, but I cant argue that he is sure fire better or more deserving. -

I think Grifffin's highlight reel is feeding his hype. Granted the guy can jump out of the gym, but he still plays out of control, hasn't figured out defensive side of the ball, and still lacks a mid range game. I would take Josh Smith or Al Hortford over him at this time as well. I wonder how many of you guys have really even seen him play and not just his exciting highlight dunks on Sportscenter. Honestly him as an MVP canidate is a joke. -
Hb31187Kevin Love is a better player right now than Blake Griffin...so idk how Griffins name even got put into the MVP candidate talk, because Kevin Love doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell @ the award. He too has like high 20's of double doubles in a row....only Kevin Love can play defense, has a back to the basket game, can shoot a midrange, face up and hit 3 pointers when left open. But he doesnt have 8 alley oops a game, so he doesnt get shown much on SC

Yup, good point I would take Kevin Love over him as well. Not sure about him playing better def, I havent seen him play much, but he plays just as hard and is much better well rounded than Griffin right now. I think his low FG% hurts him overall, but much as that is due to the system he plays in (fast paced, lots of jumpers, etc..). -

Idiot Post of the Week? -

Josh Smith and Horford shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Griffin, and I like them both. What a joke.
And who really said he was an MVP candidate? Someone mentioned Gasol as an MVP candidate and then others started explaining how Griffin is more deserving than Gasol. Neither will win. -

i guess you think the analysts on espn are idiots and know nothing of basketball as well. -
Laley23COA, I've actually watched about 85% of the Clips games this year because Eric Gordon is my favorite player of all time. Blake has developed so much from the start of the year. At first, he couldn't shoot, and now is hitting the open jumper. He has developed a very consistent bank shot ala Timmy. He has shown the ability to back down players as well. His game is actually nothing like what they show on sports center. The Clips run their offense through Blake and I've been stunned at how quickly he has become a go to guy. There is a reason that coinciding with his development is the 10-4 stretch they are on and have beaten the Spurs, Heat, Bulls, Suns and Lakers.
I'm not saying he is an MVP, but his game is so much more than dunk and highlight plays. I would say Kevin Love is a more sound player right now and is certainly a better shooter. But Kevin is not better based on potential, and it wont be long before Blake realizes said potential.
I'm not on this guys nuts because of his highlights, ive watched him 30 times this year and the improvement has been remarkable. He is turning into a complete player. He didn't have many highlights versus the Heat or Lakers and still put up numbers and got the wins. -
thedynasty1998People used to say Amare was all hype because all he did was dunk, yet he's proven to be much more. It's the same situation. For the casual fans, it's easy to say because they just catch their highlights on Sportscenter, but for those who actually watched the games, they saw what Amare was capable of. It's the same thing with Griffin.

Still doesn't make him an MVP candidate or even in the top 5. He cannot lead a team to a Championship. He was surrounded with all kinds of talent in Phoenix and still couldn't even get to the Finals let alone win it. He is too one dimensional and doesn't work hard enough on defense. -

Who is not an MVP candidate? I agree that Griffin isn't. However, Stoudemire is absolutely in the discussion. He won't win it, but he's top 5 at this point.
