andrew luck to stay at stanford for senior year

    I think it's bad move for him. His stock is through the roof right now and there's no doubt he will go in the top five of the NFL draft. He risks having a bad year and even worse, injury. I know those are "what if's" but it's happened before.

    Go to NFL, get paid. If you suck or get hurt or something you've still made a few million and can then pay to finish your degree.

    True but locker isn't exactly your prototypical pro style qb. Bradford stayed, got hurt and turned out fine. If your a mobile qb you gotta strike when the iron's hot cause one bad year and your "top 5" status as qb downgrades to a converted wr or te. I don't see that with Luck though. Even if he has a bad year I still think he'll be #1 or at least top 5 next year, he's waaaaayyy too talented to drop that much.

    To become a PAC-10 QB whose name begins with "L" it has to be a pre-requisite to be mentally retarded. That's the best explaination I can come up with for these guys.

    Agreed, dumb move to not go pro. Why stay to play for free and risk injury. Dont know about you, but if I'm going to get hit by Linebackers, I'd rather get paid for it.

    Nah there will be a lockout before the owners will ever give another rookie 50 million. A rookie wage scale will be in the next agreement

    I think it's funny that you call a kid who is a Structural Design Engineer major at Stanford an idiot.

    The kid wants to earn his degree, how can you fault him for that? People compare him to Peyton Manning, so why not let him play through his senior season, like Peyton.

    And like Peyton, his family is already wealthy. Archie made his money in the NFL. Oliver played in the NFL for a bit, was a successful businessman and is AD at a university that worships him. Money isn't an issue. Don't get it, it would be like people saying Chris Long should have come out after his junior year....why? He's in school, enjoying life and his Dad lives in a 15 bedroom house - and continues to make millions. Certainly not a "I have to feed my family" situation.

    The NFL will still be there next year, and the year after that, and the year after that..it is one of the best run leagues. Why not get your degree while you remember everything, and being so close to finishing. The odds of an NFL player going BACK to school to finish their degree is very slim....

    This is a smart move and a move he should be commended for. More players need to be taught how to finish.........finish everything they start, and that includes their education.

    if he's this good now, next year he may be better, granted there's no where to go but down from here but i don't think it matters much to him. he's from a wealthy family, so i'd put this in the category of Peyton and Eli Manning both coming back for their senior years, it's not like Mike Vick going back for his.

    Some good points on why he should stay but regardless, in this day and age you strike while the iron is hot, what's a sure thing today can easily be unattainable tomorrow.
