Is Colt McCoy the answer ?
-
Mr MiyagiThe Browns are going to pick 7th or 8th in the 2011 draft. With qb's such as Luck, Locker,Mallett,Newton available do you stick with McCoy or or take your chance on a "franchise qb" ? I am not completely sold on McCoy and it has nothing to do with potential but more to do with size and arm strength.
Now the Browns have so many holes to fill it wouldnt bother me in the least if they went in the direction of OL,DL , LB, or WR....... just looking for opinions ....if you think you have a chance for "the one" do you take him or do you think Colt could be "the one" ? -
killer_ewokThat depends on what the question is....
-
Ironman92If the question is: What NFL QB is most like Penn State's QB yesterday...then definately yes
-
Ironman92In all seriousness.......you just can't tell at this point. At least the guy cares.
-
THE4RINGZHe is a winner, and has a great future. The problem in Cleveland has nothing to do with Colt.
-
rydawg5No, and I've been bashed for trolling the boards since I realized this after seeing him at Texas.
If we are lucky enough to get Luck cool, if not then Mallet. Best Available player is the way to go.
Colt isn't bad enough to where we have to make a bad draft choice pick to get another qb. You have wait for the "Answer" so even if not this year, then we have to wait for next year and have Colt as long as it takes to find the right choice. -
Laley23No, he wont be a franchise QB. But he can be serviceable and win. He can easily be a playoff QB, if the team as a whole is solid.
If the reports of Holmgren taking over are true, McCoys stock goes up cause I think he can be a much better QB in the spread than in the offense we have seen. -
THE4RINGZHis size hurts him.
-
se-alumI think Luck is the only franchise QB in the draft this year, so I don't see the Browns drafting a QB. McCoy will be fine, when he gets an NFL quality receiving corp and a right side of the line.

I agree with this. There's little sense in searching for the second coming of Staubach when the coaching staff and the rest of the talentless squad remains in tact. Too many holes to fill and McCoy completed 70% in college. Wins and losses aren't going to be determined on hitting three plays over 50 yards a game anyway. He's serviceable enough. -
rydawg5Mccoy kinda reminds me of Doug Flutie. Everyone loves him and he will be good when he comes off the bench but will struggle as a full time starter..
-
Mr Miyagiyeah, i have been on the fence about this...... i think he will be a serviceable qb but if you have a chance to take a franchise qb and dont it could really hurt down the road, of course if you dont fix the numerous holes on this team your "franchise qb" wont last for long.

Drew Brees agrees.....wait.THE4RINGZ;622020 wrote:His size hurts him. -
JesterHe's done okay, given with what he has to work with. He may not have the ideal size of an NFL QB, but he's shown he wants to win. He's accurate and can make plays with his feet. While he may not be a great QB, I feel he can be better than anyone the Browns have had in the past few seasons. Plus, arm strength can be improved. Just give him some steraroids.

This is pretty much what I've said from the beginning. He isn't the answer if you are talking about a game changing franchise QB, but he isn't the problem either. Put some talent around him and he'll be good enough.
Plus, the only QB I think is worthy of a top 10 pick is Luck, and if he even stays in the draft he'll be the #1 pick. -

jspitaleriHe needs a line that can give him protection and time to throw. He is on the run way too much.

Just mocking the countless Drew Brees comparisons. -

I see. So Brees and McCoy aren't comparable in size?? Hmmm...rydawg5;622051 wrote:Just mocking the countless Drew Brees comparisons. -
GoJPM!Colt has Brian Sipe potentional, imo, and that's not too bad. Sipe was no slouch.

SportsAndLadyIf the Browns do not draft a WR with their first round pick...well I just might explode.
-
Cleveland BuckHe's shown me enough that we should try to get some players around him and see what happens. The right side of the line and wide receivers are pitiful. Draft Blackmon with your first pick, draft a RT in the 2nd round, sign another WR and a RG, use the rest of the draft and free agency on the defense. If you give McCoy some weapons and he still can't get it done, then at least you can draft a QB into a better situation.

you just might explode because i don't think they will take one with a top 10 pick....... maybe if they trade down....... -
Con_AlmaQB is not the problem with the Browns. Who that QB is doesn't put the team into the playoffs right now.
