Cavs @ Heat....does anyone even care anymore?

The Cavs are the least physical team in the NBA and Lebron is the most physical player in the NBA at attacking the basket. Normally your statement would be true, but not in this game. And factor in Lebron being a star, it's really not that surprising.KR1245;602549 wrote:Thats fine. Bottom line is that one guy should not have more FT attempts than an entire team. He ended up with 18 FT's to the Cavs 20.
Dude is averaging 11 ppg and 4 rpg in the D League in 8 games. Hardly anything I would be optimistic about. Wasn't he a first round draft pick?Commander of Awesome;602761 wrote:The truth! He had 16 and 11 the other night.
Let's put him in perspective:
Toney Douglas drafted one ahead of him is averaging 10 PPG in the NBA, on a winning team.
Guys who were drafted in the 2nd round in the 2009 draft:
DeJuan Blair, Sam Young, Jon Brockman, Jodie Meeks, Marcus Thornton, Chase Budinger and Patrick Mills -
RotinajLeast physical team in the NBA? I take it youve watched multiple games of every team this year then?

Who is less physical? -
Commander of AwesomeToronto and Detroit both spring to mind. Golden State, Suns are also contenders.

Are you really comparing Eyenga's progression to these guys? He is 21. When drafted, he played for basically DKV Juventut's JV team. Last year, when he was supposed to get minutes with the first division club, he was ill and missed time to develop. The kid might not ever amount to a rotation player in this league, but it is understandable why he is behind the guys you listed that played NCAA D1 basketball for a few years before entering the NBA. -

Who else can you compare him to? He was drafted in the first round and in that same draft the guys I listed went in the 2nd round. The Cavs knew he was a project, but I would imagine they would have thought he would be playing minutes on one of the worst teams in the NBA who is in complete rebuild mode. -

This is why you're stupid.
The Cavs didn't plan on playing him the first part of this season. They wanted him in the D-League to develop a chemistry with the NBA style of play and to also work on his english. -

Give it a rest. I dont think anybody on this site is expecting Eyenga to do anything in the NBA for quite some time. It was a damn joke. Anytime somebody makes a positive statement regarding the Cavs you are here to run your mouth. It gets old
You have NOTHING to back up your argument that the Cavs are the least physical team in the NBA. Did you watch that game last night? Theres NO WAY that Lebron should have taken 2 less FT's than the entire Cavs team. No way. Bron gets put on the line for touch fouls. Andy was getting clobbered under the rim and there wasnt a whistle. Cavs also outscored the Heat in points in the pain lat night, so it seems that the Cavs were getting to the rim more than the Heat. They just werent getting the calls that the Heat were. -
thedynasty1998Maybe I am wrong in that Kid Congo is exactly where the Cavs expected him to be. I would have a hard time believing that, but it may be true. I would just imagine they would expect more from a 1st round draft pick.
But my point would be, if you are going to lose games, why not lose with the young talent? Why not move him up at this point and have him try to adjust to the NBA style of play at this level? -

The Cavs may not be the least physical team, but they are certainly one of the least physical teams. Not sure how to determine that, but Mo Williams, Boobie, Jamison and Sessions would all be considered to be pretty soft. Varejao brings some toughness and I think Joey Graham is a physical player.
I did not watch the game last night. But I've seen Lebron play over the years and his game is attacking the rim and creating contact. I would have always agreed that he gets favorable calls, so it shouldn't come as a surprise now. -
Hb31187So this year Lebron gets put on the line for touch fouls and its absurd.
Last year when anyone would try to say he gets all the calls, it was blasphemy.
Watching the game last night, the Cavs shoot a lotttt of jump shots. (Boobie, Mo, Jamison, AP) They really dont have a slasher, or a back to the basket big man so theyre not gonna average very many foul shots a game(theyre towards the bottom of the league in that category). While the Heat have 2 of the best slashers in the league in Wade and Bron so of course theyre going to get to the line more often -
karen lotzTo say he was getting touch fouls last night and the Cavs weren't getting any calls is ridiculous.
And you are correct Hb, as I said earlier. The Cavs are a jump shooting team that doesn't attack the rim. Jamison either spots up or shoots floaters/runners/flip shots, Mo was shooting runners/floaters in the paint last night, as was Gibson. They weren't exactly going to the rim strong. There is a difference between scoring in the paint and attacking the basket and drawing contact. -

How is it ridiculous? The Heat doubled the Cavs in FT attempts. Floaters, runners, whatever, the Cavs were getting into the paint last night, they just werent getting calls. Chris Bosh might have taken 2 shots inside the paint. Wade spent most of his night out on the perimeter as well. The Heat werent attacking the rim like you would like to think. They were plenty of questionable calls that went the Heats way. The Cavs take plenty of jump shots, I wont deny that. They also spent alot more time in the paint last night than the Heat did. My point is that I think they deserved some more calls. -
wes_mantoothI was talking today with some buddies...if the Cavs played like that during the Dec 2nd meeting...how would you feel about this team? I mean, they would still suck, but would you be as hard on them?

I dont think the Cavs are as bad as their record indicates. I'm looking through homer glasses but I have seen Cavs teams with far less talent do more. My family has had season tickets since the Coliseum days(mostly because of my dads work). Anyways, I wish they would play with the same effort they did last night, thats the way they are capable of playing. I think they were demoralized after the Dec 2nd game and havent been able to rebound from it. I'm going to watch/support them regardless of their record, I just want to see them play up to their potential -
wes_mantoothI guess I just don't see it the same as you. I look at the team and we have one guy that would start on a playoff caliber team....maybe two. I am a pessimist though...so I am probably just being rough on them.

You aren't.
The 2002 team was worse. Bimbo Coles, Smush Parker, Jumaine Jones, and Tyrone Hill's decaying corpse all started more than 10 games. Milt Palacio started 46. My money says most people forgot he existed until just now.
This is the 2nd worst Cavs team I've ever seen though (granted my memory only goes back to about 1996). -

Again, there is a difference in the way the Cavs big offensive players attack the paint compared to Wade and LeBron. I didn't say Bosh had a big interior game, he has never been known for that part of his game. Although I do think he took someone to the basket and dunked pretty authoritatively last night. You will never convince me or anyone who watches basketball that Jamison, Gibson, and Mo Williams attack the rim with the goal of drawing contact. Did you not watch very closely last night? How many floaters or runners or high arching shots did Gibson and Mo shoot from around the dotted line? That is in the paint, but it isn't near the rim. Why do you think they shoot those shots? Because it lets them get the shots up before the bigs can get there for the block. Jamison is the same way with his array of shooting angles/flips/whatever you want to call it. He shoots those shots to get them up before the defense can react and he is good at them. Varejao isn't really much of an attacker either.

Wouldn't that mean this Cavs team is in fact as bad, if not worse, than their record indicates? Because minus the LeBron years, this is one of the more talented Cavs teams in the last 10-15 years. -

Boobie attacked the rim. I thought Mo and Sessions attacked the rim as well. You're acting like the Heat were attacking the rim all night while the Cavs just chucked up shots from the perimeter, thats just not the case. Varejo might not be much of an "attacker" but he went hard to the rim from inside a couple times and didnt get the calls.
I realize that I might be looking at this game trhough homer glasses but at least I will admit that. Dont act like you're unbiased in this whole thing. You trashed Bron and the Cavs last year. Once Bron was no longer on the Cavs you have been praising him. You are just as biased as I am.
