Week 15: Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals

Pretty well played game all in all. It is hard pill to swallow, but the Browns seem to have a much brighter future. They are a good WR and a few defenders away from competing. My Bengals have gone from playoff team to reclamation project in less than one season.
I expect to see Benson, TO, and Ochocinco all to take their talents elsewhere after this season
I'd only be sad about Benson leaving, the other two are gettin' old and despite relative quiet this year aren't worth the trouble. TO has done well, but he's a powder keg. -
like_thatJust got back from cincy. Pitiful display by the Browns.
-Why the fuck did Daboll call shotgun plays more than he decided to give Hillis the ball?
-Erica Pussy Womangini should have went for it when the Browns were 4 and 1 inside cincy's 5.
-Horrrrrrible defense against the run. The score could have been much worse if the bengals got it in the endzone.
- It was about 60% bengals fans 40% browns fans. If Browns fans didn't show up, that stadium would have been pathetic.
Also, what was the word on TO? I didn't even realize he was hurt, then i saw him getting carted in the tunnel. -

Yeah, I'm going to be sad to see Benson go, but #1, I don't see them ponying up the cash and #2 I'm not sure he would be in a hurry to return to Cincy seeing how we are going to be rebuilding -
osu45804Terrell Owens --- Torn Meniscus in left knee -- Done for rest of the season
Too bad he was having a really good year too -

Either way, it was a 2 score game, why not get the almost guaranteed points while you can? -

If they scored a TD on that drive, we would be talking about the browns winning. -
iclfan2Today was another pitiful coached game. Terrible time management at the end of the first half, 2 illegal formation penalites, and terrible offensive play calling (again). Daboll has to be gone at the end of the year, and Mangini may also have an exit.
-
killer_ewokIt's been a long time since Cincy won. I'm sure they're just happy to get one no matter how narrow the margin or who it was against.
At least T.O. went out with a win this season. He was putting up some good numbers. -

Eh, I think he made the right call there, especially after 3rd and 1 at the 4 or whatever came up short. Stupid ass play call there too by the way, the whole stadium knew what he was going to run, but shame on the line for not getting it done. -
Cleveland BuckI would have gone for it on that play simply because you have to know the defense couldn't get off the field and the Bengals were going to use clock and score again.

The Browns didn't exactly drive down the field with ease the whole game. To say we would be talking about winning if they scored a TD is kinda absurd the way they played today. -

That was a good drive though, and they just wasted it by not getting 7. It was just like the opening drive vs buffalo last week. They are a 5 win team, they have nothing to lose, I don't see a reason why not to go for it. Erica Womangini's vagina is going to send him looking for a new job. -

Do you expect people to take you seriously when you post this kind of childish stuff?
While a 5 win team may have nothing to lose, coaches still tend to make decisions based on game situations. And conservative or not, taking the points and hoping your defense might actually stop the other team more than just once in a while, is a valid way of coaching. You might not like it, but I'd bet MOST NFL coaches tend to play this way.
Had the Browns gone for it and gotten stoned, and then proceeded to lose by the same margin -- you'd probably be the first person on here screaming they should have taken the points.
There's no excusing the crap at the end of the first half, but the REAL killer there was a foolish formation penalty that negated a 15 yard penalty against the Bengals that would have put the Browns easily in FG range, and likely near the 10 yard line. Then they followed that up with yet another foolish motion penalty.
Can you really blame Mangini for deciding maybe it was smarter to just punt the ball, and recoup at the half, than risk more clownish mistakes by his offense?
These last two defeats will be front and center for the Fire Mangini crowd, but my question is this: who you going to bring in that won't take us major steps BACKWARDS and force the rebuilding to basically begin all over?
Don't say Holmgren, because that hurts the Browns worse, in my view as he's a stabilizing force in the front office.
Cowher ain't coming for ANY amount of money.
Schottenheimer is too old and retired.
Gruden is the same coach who took a Super Bowl team and ground it into nothing in only a few seasons.
I don't see that golden coach out there, just waiting to come to the Browns and make them an instant winner. -
grodtI'll be honest I'd like to see them keep Mangini and bring in a new OC that actually knows how to call a game. I think that Mangini has brought things to the like toughness and accountability that are needed to build a winner. If we want any success we need some continuity and blowing everything up again will most likely set us back 2 years again.

I agree to a degree, but Holmgren coming out isn't a bad move. Other than personnel moves which I'd still want him in charge of, I think the front office could be run fine, it's not like he'd be out of the loop or anything. -
gerb131Dunlap did look good today. Get this secondary mainly safety shored up and this D will be top 5 in the NFL next year.

I guess the millions of NFL fans out there are childish then for making up nicknames for athletes/coaches they are not pleased with. How about try not getting your panties in a bunch over a nickname?
As for the coach. I really wanted the Browns to win this game. I don't think hiring a new coach is the correct route to take. Mangini should get one more year to prove himself. As buckeye said, there is no golden coach that is going to take this team to the playoffs right away. I am worried that holmgren is going to hire a west coast coach, while this team's offense isn't close to being built as a west coast offense. -

Go to the thread he started that got sent to the basement. I think he copy and pasted every single Steeler fans post from the game thread today in an attempt to rub it in haha.Writerbuckeye;607454 wrote:Do you expect people to take you seriously when you post this kind of childish stuff? -

No shit sherlock....
Also, it was every crybaby post about the officiating. Also used the multi-quote feature to get all the quotes, i definitely didn't copy each quote one by one. -
shook_17all i have to say is in holmgren we trust. im torn about keeping magini or firing him. when we play great i finally think that we are on the right track, then we lose games like this. glad im not in mikes shoes. i think it will be a tough decision. but def dabolls ass needs to go ASAP

Have to agree with this....we can't really blame Mangini for the lack of talent he has to work with (although his first draft was god awful) We are about 4-5 players away from a winning record, and I think we have found our starting QB (for now) in McCoy.
I have seen better play calling in peewee football than the job Daboll does, this guy should've been canned at the end of last season. We need to bring in a real offensive guy that is not predictable....my choice would be McDaniels he did wonders while being the offensive Coordinator for the Pats, and called very good games.
The one thing I can't see helping is starting completely over with a new coach just so he can get "his guys" to Cleveland and have yet another "rebuilding year" Mangini is slowly and I mean very slowly getting the pieces he needs to win games, but he has improved from a year ago. -
dazedconfusedugh, defense played so bad all day. no pressure on palmer, truck-wide holes for benson to run through...all around terrible effort by the defense.
on the 4th and 1 call, i would have gone for it just because of how bad the defense was playing. you just had to figure the defense wasn't going to be able to stop benson and they didn't.
another 5-11 season is on the horizon, damn. hopefully, we get another infusion of great talent through the draft like this past years draft -
hoops23This years 5-11 is a lot better than last years 5-11 though. I know Wins and losses are all that matter, but for the first time in years, there is a good core of talent here.
This team doesn't need as much as it did last year. Another good draft and some key FA additions and this team will be right there. -

His first draft might be the worst I have ever seen for a team. Hell he rivals the 08 draft in terms of shittyness, though I'll give him credit. Opie (Savage) fucked us by trading a lot of the 09 draft picks away to move up in the 4th round and take Beau Bell lolfail.
