Speedofsandnot Nascar, but Hurley Haywood is a Legend in his own time. He is the GOAT.

During the night hours of the race, Haywood, who was gaining time on the track, stayed behind the wheel of the car for an amazing eight-hour stint. In each of the pit stops, Haywood would hop out of the car and enter the tent. When the car was ready to return to the track, Haywood would exit the tent and return to the car with a different helmet to disguise the fact he was still driving.

Don't discredit his solid 19th place finish tonight. Only finishing a lap down at Charlotte isn't that bad at all...in 1967.WebFire;935108 wrote:Getting closer to the end of the Chase, and Jr. is still an also-ran. -
iclfan2It was a good win for Kenseth, finally winning some races, as opposed to last year. 3rd in points at the midway point is nice. I kind of like the new points system, since it seems the top 5 or 6 are all still vying for the title.

SpeedofsandNo Crisco allowed, but the cool temps are letting them love bug for 20 laps without switching. Pressure relief valve might be tweaked.
edit: #18-Busch lost a tire, smacked the wall, tore up the right fender and the team will go to a backup car. -

One of Earnhardt's best chances at ending the drought came last April at Talladega. He didn't win, but he did help the driver who did. Earnhardt, who finished fourth, pushed Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson to victory that day. After the race, Johnson tried to give Earnhardt the checkered flag. Earnhardt refused the offer, opting to earn it at a later time. Is Sunday that time?
After a record-tying 88 lead changes in last April's Talladega race, the track has instituted a bonus plan this weekend: If there are 100 lead changes in Sunday's race, the driver who takes the lead the most times will win an extra $100,000. ... Rule changes to watch for this weekend: The size of the restrictor plate that teams will use to prepare and practice for the race will increase by 1/64 inch and is now going to be 57/64-inch diameter. This will provide the teams with an additional 7-10 horsepower. Additionally, the pressure relief valve on the cars' cooling system will be re-calibrated to reduce the pressure by approximately eight pounds per square inch (33 to 25psi) from this past April's race at Talladega. ... Milestone marker: Bobby Labonte will make his 650th series start - he is 16th on the all-time NSCS starts list.
Mark Martin on the pole, I wonder if he'll run the Shootout in Feb.? -
Speedofsand[h=6]UARA: On the track, Steven Wallace won Saturday's UARA-Stars Late Model Stock Car tour's race at Newport Speedway (TN). In post-race technical inspection, however, it was taken away due to an illegal intake on Wallace's #66 machine. The win was then handed to Alex Yontz. [/h]LMAO, Steven Wall Ace goes to the minor leagues and he still has to cheat to win.

SpeedofsandCONCORD, N.C. -- NASCAR has issued four-week suspensions to the crew chiefs and car chiefs for Martin Truex Jr., David Reutimann and Bobby Labonte.
http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/7149586/nascar-suspends-six-illegal-windshields
Chad Johnston, Rodney Childers and Frank Kerr also were fined $50,000 each, and the drivers docked 25 points apiece. The penalties are from illegal windshields discovered during Friday inspection at Talladega Superspeedway. NASCAR says they did not have the appropriate thickness.
Brad Daugherty said all his cars are built at MWR. I think they just broke up too.
Not the first time this has happened, especially at superspeedways. Dale Sr. used many illegal windshields and got away with it.
Chad caught on tape telling Jimmie if they win, smash the back of the car before postrace inspection.
