Pittsburgh Penguins 2010-2011 season thread

FYI, the final score was 5-2.

IMO, this team is mature beyond their years. The Pens didn't panic when Buffalo scored a minute after GoGo's goal that put them up 3-1 mid way through the third period, they stuck to their game and took control late.

I just hope they can keep this level of play going. I'd of loved to see them peak like this during the final two weeks of the regular season.

The Tuesday game to me is a HUGE statement game. Philly will bring everything they have. Gonna be a great one to watch.

Came out with a 5-2 result in that "passionate" arena!!

HSBC arena was so damn quiet.

    Malkin Close to Return
"I can't say now, but we'll see in the morning skate (Tuesday)," said Malkin, who jokingly added that he had a 50-50 chance of playing. "I feel very good. We'll see.

"I feel better everyday. Today I skated pretty hard. I feel alright. It's tough when I'm not playing. I understand that I need rest because my knee is a little bit sore. I hope I play tomorrow."

Head coach Dan Bylsma wasn't ready to commit Malkin to the lineup against the Flyers.

"I haven't had a discussion with Malkin yet," Bylsma said. "He's still day-to-day so we'll see. He's been working. He got a full practice today. Hopefully, we'll get to see more tomorrow.

"He's gone through a couple workouts without pain. Today was another level with contact practice. He was skating well and doing better. Hopefully, we'll see a continued improvement (Tuesday)."

    Kuntiz is DTD
  • End of Line
Malkin and Kuntiz are both game-time decisions.

They're just about ready to drop the puck in Philly. Kunitz is out and Malkin will play.

BTW, I heard on the radio that Crosby and Malkin will be on the Price Is Right Monday giving away a hockey related showcase. If anything, it could very funny to here what Malkin may do or say.

1-0 Filthadelphia at the first intermission.

thank god we have the Pens and not some garbage NBA team like Cleveland has ...although we will take an NBA team but they must fit our criteria ....Pittsburgh plays tough and Pittsburgh teams never lay down win or lose ..

Pens lose 3-2. Good sign for Pittsburgh was the fact that Malkin scored both goals on the power play. Fleury played a solid game, can't fault him at all for a couple of those goals.

You knew it had to end at some point, just sucks it had to come at the hands of the fucking Flyers! Oh well, Sid and the boys can start a new win streak.

I didn't get to see the game tonight.

Too bad the streak ended. Flyers have the Pens number so far but emphasis on the so far.

    Long season left.
  • GoPens
Oh well, time to start another 12 game streak.

At least Sid kept his going.
  • gerb131
Unbelieveable streak by Sid and he's doing it both ways goals and assists.
  • End of Line
God damn I hate losing to Cryers. Fleury made a couple of HUGE saves to keep the Pens in it. Looks as if the "Old" Geno has returned. Sid kept his streak going with two assits. The line of Connor-Letestu-Kennedy is unbelievable to watch. We almost beat a team with two major pieces to the puzzle missing (Staal and Kuntiz).

Tell that to the Pitt team that got manhandled by Tenn over the weekend.

Great win for the flyers, I figured they would come out on top. They are 2nd in the league for pts scored, and they showed why yesterday.

It had to end at some point. Pens are still in 1st and Geno played pretty good. That's good news.

Flyers are one point ahead, 45-44.

They do have a deep team. Some of those guys like Zherdev and Hartnell, who are down their list of forwards, are really good and productive players.

But I'm sure these teams will meet in the playoffs and it will be a great series.

I stand corrected. I've got the flu so I must've imagined seeing that on the screen last night. I was a little drowsy and out of it near the end of the game.

Home game tonight against the Rags.

FYI.......HBO's 24/7 featuring the Pens and Caps premiers tonight at 10PM. Early word is that it's going to be a good show.

Also and FWIW.......Mario dawned full hockey gear this morning and was working out, while most of us hope he comes out of retirement to play on the Pens PP (that's a joke, not serious), he's actually getting ready for the big alumni game on New Years Eve at Heinz Field. Seems like big #66 is taking it serious.
