Pittsburgh Penguins 2010-2011 season thread

I thought the rest of the season would be the max, so the playoffs is kind of surprising. Can't argue with it though, it's totally justified and just another way Cooke has hurt his team. Read that even his teammates are getting tired of it.

I hope Lemieux cuts his ass after this season is over. However when he does, just watch how many teams will line up trying to sign him.

Yeah. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Cooke after the year. Especially considering how Mario was very up-in-arms about cheap shots and saying he didn't know if wanted to be part of a league where stuff like that went down. Hard to be taken seriously when a guy who many seem to consider as cheap as anyone in the league is on your team (look at Yahoo Sports commentary on him following yesterday).

Cooke deserves the suspension but this is too harsh. There's been a lot of garbage that has gone unpunished by Colin "the dickhead" Campbell! Mark Madden made a very good point today on his radio show in that this is Campbell's way of exacting revenge on Mario Lemieux and his comments regarding the league. He also remarked that it's seems funny that guys like Lucic and Chara received nothing for absolute dirty hits and the fact Campbell's son plays for the Bruins makes his decisions all the more suspicious, that he absolutely throws the book at any team that may rival them. Makes you think about what really is going on.

Been gone for awhile with work but thought I would see what was happening around here.

I don't think this is a revenge suspension for Cooke because this is not his first offense with dirty hits. This is the NHL's way of trying to set a new standard to say "If you purposefully go after someones head, be prepared to reap the consequences." Especially for a guy who refs are probably watching for dirty plays, that elbow was incredibly dumb. With the other injuries the Pens have, this just adds to their problems and the only one to blame is Cooke. They have played well without key guys but you can only take so much.

Pens rolling the Red Wings right now 4-0!

    Great effort so far.

    Welcome back Knight!

And it's now 4-4 after 4 unanswered from Detroit.
  • rock_knutne
How many big leads can the Pens blow this year? Up 4-0 and they let the Wings back in it and it's now tied 4-4. Although, typical Detroit hockey, running interference and holding sticks all over the ice!

Well I see Rock is still reading the Eddie O rulebook about interference

Detroit does what they do best, interfere and hold sticks. Letang's stick was blantantly held on the tying goal, even Doc Emrick and Pierre McGuire admitted to Detroit getting away with it all night and especially on that play.

And a Pen blatantly interfered with Kronwall on a shot attempt earlier that was no called as the Vs announcers said it should have been. The Pens get away with things too but your love affair with calling for the Wings to get penalties for so called interference is a little nuts man. The Pens do the same exact things yet you say nothing.

    Shoot out!

Wrong as usual! The Pens don't play cheap hockey like Detroit does! LMFAO......Kronwall is the biggest "interferer" on that entire team and he finally got called for it late in the game.

Damn. Hell of a glove save on Modano.
  • rock_knutne
James Neal gets the only shoot out goal and the Pens win! Much needed two points.

You call the Wings for playing "cheap" hockey and you support Matt Cooke? That comment alone shows how much of a homer you are
  • rock_knutne
Even though Pittsburgh blew a 4-0 lead this game was a statement in lieu of the Cooke suspension and the incredibily unfortunate season they've had with injuries. Dan Bylsma has done a great job of keeping this team focused in adverse situaions and tonight was no different. Orpik will be back soon and if Crosby can keep skating and working out with no ill effects from his concussion and get back in the lineup, this team has a real chance to make noise in a couple of weeks.

It was a bitter sweet win. To give up a 4-0 lead is not pretty but, to get the two points was.

I did read it and you said it was too much for a guy who intentionally tried to hurt another player. He purposefully put his elbow up aiming for guys head trying to hurt him and he succeeded. If Ovechkin did that to Crosby, you would be throwing a fit and saying it is well deserved and Ovi deserved to be suspended for that long if not longer. And then you blame the NHL and call it a conspiracy against the Pens and Cooke. You are a homer, have always been a homer since I have been on this site and it is impossible to have a rational conversation with you because no matter what, the Pens get screwed and everyone is out to get them and everything the other teams do is wrong because Doc Emerick and Eddie O say so.

Take the 2 points and run...
