You're contradicting yourself...you want him to get minutes vs D league players, but minutes against second and third teamers in the NBA don't help him at all? -

Thats a good point, but there is a different sense of, well everything involved in a game, when it is over versus playing the whole game. -

Playing mop up duty against other back ups Vs playing 40 minutes a night and getting valuable time to work on his game......Which do you think would help a player improve more?
I understand the Talent level in the D-league is a step below the NBA, but at least in the D-league games it will be competitive games, in the NBA if he gets in during mop up duty mostly, the guys have already mailed it in and are kinda just going through the motions usually -
thedynasty1998I originally thought maybe the D League would be a good idea, but that was a great point in that you want him to get his minutes at the highest level. He needs to learn to adjust to the talent level of the NBA and he doesn't do that by playing in the D League.

osu45804Looks like Rajon Rondo could be out at least a couple weeks -- C's were already w/o 3 Bigs (Perk, Shaq & J.O.) & now 2 PG's (Rondo & D-West) are out w/ injuries

hoops23Right now I would say Amar'e is the MVP and Raymond Felton most improved. I've always liked Raymond Feltons game at the NBA level. Tough pg who can run the offense, can shoot, and is a good defender.
His consistent play as a pg is almost as big of a reason for the Knicks turnaround as Amar'e.
If they get Melo, look out. -
Hb31187I agree Amare is playing like an MVP
But Kevin Love pretty much has most improved all locked up if he keeps his pace up IMO -

He isn't playing mop up duty though. Sure, he's in there during mop up time...but he's still playing a good amount of time against other teams' first teamers, as evidenced by his 24 minutes a game.Hb31187;603158 wrote:Playing mop up duty against other back ups Vs playing 40 minutes a night and getting valuable time to work on his game......Which do you think would help a player improve more?usually
You gotta think what getting sent to the D league will do to a players psychee. Especially the #2 overall pick. I definitely feel getting 24 min a game in the NBA will help him more than getting 40 in the D league. -

Love and Roy Hibbert are the front runners right now, imo. -

I think it depends on the player and what he wants to get out of it. I just saw recently that a rookie had been sent to the D League for being late to meetings/shootarounds. He went down and actually a ball boy for the D League team told him he was wasting his opportunity and he would give anything to be an NBA player (the ballboy is 13 or so). The player (who is slipping my mind at the moment, but I think he was either on the Knicks or Nets) used it as a wake up call and went in to beast mode. I think he has since been recalled and is playing well.
Obviously its a different situation with someone who just isn't getting minutes or being productive, but if someone gets sent down, its ultimately up to them to determine how it impacts them.
Edit: Terrence Williams of the Nets is the player I was referring to. Here is story: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/A-D-League-ball-boy-gave-Terrence-Williams-a-wak?urn=nba-294858 -
karen lotzYao's career could be over. MRI revealed stress fracture in his foot again, after only playing in 5 games with reduced minutes this year. He said before the season started that if he couldn't make it through this season healthy, he would strongly consider retirement.

osu45804I'm sure it'll get a good laugh out of some people on here but it's nice to hear about Antoine Walker's good night in his 3rd NBDL game tonight -- 25pts 8rbs in 33 minutes of action --- I always loved the Pierce & Walker combination and I hope he has a successful attempt at a return to the NBA
