No this is a root against and hate the Heat thread. Like most on here now, I don't have a contending team to root for. So my new favorite NBA team is the one playing the Heat each night. Tonight it just happened to be the Celtics. -
Hb31187Lol im betting ESPN and lots of posters on here will act like the sky is falling in Miami

I'm guessing he caught a few minutes of the 2nd half of it like he did last night -

Maybe on ESPN, but it does seem like this team still needs to get some things sorted out. When all 3 were on the court at the same time they all seemed reluctant to shoot "too much" and were making extra passes that they shouldn't have. Wade and Lebron's similar playing styles is going to make things difficult as well. Everybody is sagging on them and daring the other dudes to shoot 3s. Last night the other guys couldn't throw it in to the ocean. That HAS to changeHb31187;534491 wrote:Lol im betting ESPN and lots of posters on here will act like the sky is falling in Miami -
grodtI must say the Heat's offense sure looked familiar last night.

Fly4FunI watched last night as it is entertaining to watch great players. But, I loved watching the best struggle and ultimately lose. The problem though is that it is an early season game and the heat will improve a lot.

I don't think the sky is falling, but I do see a problem with the way this roster is constructed. Lebron James and Dwayne Wade have been able to dominate the ball their entire careers and either make plays for themselves or others. Now, when they are in the half court one of those two guys is going to have to be able to play off the ball. They say it doesn't matter, but it is something neither one has had to do. When they have the ball, they basically turn the big men into pick and roll guys and the other guards/wings into jump shooters. Without Mike Miller, the Heat will be relying on a streaky Eddie House and James Jones to knock down the open shots, along with turning one of the best one-on-one players in the league (either James or Wade) into a bystander until they figure out how to excel off the ball like Kobe does and Michael did the last half of his career. Bosh should be a good pick and roll or pick and pop player, but outside of possibly Haslem they don't have another big that is a threat in pick-and-roll situations. Also, they aren't going to beat good teams when James and Wade combine for 14 turnovers.
The 2 simplest ways I see to fix this "problem" is:
#1 - This team needs to get out and run. No one can stop James and Wade in the open floor (especially when the officials make calls like the blocking call on Pierce in the 2nd half when James ran him over). Plus, Bosh can run the floor and it will allow their shooters open looks and to shoot in rhythm.
#2 - When in the half court, their best low post presence needs to be willing to get on the block and dominate guys. That guy is Lebron James. If they can somehow convince him that he will help the team out best in their half court offense by taking his man on the block they will be fine in the halfcourt. If not, and LBJ demands the ball to facilitate the offense I expect the Heat to look alot like the Cavs last year when they are in the halfcourt and when they play good teams like the Celtics, Magic and Lakers you will wonder why LBJ isn't getting the help he needs to win when he scores 30+ and turns it over 7 or 8 times. -
thedynasty1998When Lebron was picking his team I said I thought Miami would be the worst choice because of him and Wade coexisting. He chose them and I believe it can work because they really seem set on winning championships, so they may put their ego's to the side.
With that said, the Heat played HORRIBLE and were in the game until the end, which I guess they can take as a positive. Wade is rusty and they don't know how to incorporate Bosh into the flow of things. Those things will work themselves out and the Heat will be okay. They will be judged on their performance in the playoffs, so they have plenty of time to work out the kinks. -
derek bomarwhile there is still football on, I could give two shits about the NBA...
that said, I am kinda happy they lost their first game. -

I agree with a lot of what you say, however, Lebron James does not scare any defenders with his low post play. He has always been reluctant to post guys up and has no signature low post move. The Heat have no one who can consistently score down low. So they better choose option #1 because option #2 will never work. -

The Herd was quite entertaining today. Colin read some of the emails he got from Heat haters/LeBron haters/disgruntled Cavs fans. Among the highlights were DWade and Mo Williams being a wash, the Heat winning 48 games, the Heat missing the playoffs. -

thedynasty1998I read that outside of Boston and Miami, the city with the highest TV rating for the game last night was Cleveland. For all the hatred, Cleveland fans are still tuning in.

I did not watch it but I certainly understand why other Cavs fans did and I don't have a problem with it at all. I actually have a few friends with season tickets and none are going to the Heat game...so plenty of Cavs fans do not give a shit about them. -

Probably because they are selling them and making some money.
