Phillies @ Reds--Game 3

  • SportsAndLady
    Hilarious story, via John Fay:

Reds fans are doing everything in their power to help the home team win tonight.

As the story goes, Cole Hamels was hanging out at Cadillac Ranch this afternoon when a waitress brought him over two shots of tequila. The shots came from a couple Reds fans who apparently wanted to ensure that Hamels is nowhere near the strike zone tonight.

Hamels smiled and laughed, definitely NOT partaking in the gift. Shortly after, two Phillies fans approached the pitcher, told him “You can’t drink those!” and proceeded to down the shots.

    Nice try Cincinnati fans

I see Janish is starting tonight. Did they replace Cabrera on the roster with Valaika, or are they going to play a player short?

Cabrera is playing tonight, batting 8th.

Per Jayson Stark's twitter about 45 minutes ago:
Orlando Cabrera told #Reds he can play. Just inserted in lineup batting 8th. Remember, he was on '04 #RedSox team that came back vs #Yankees

I'm sure Cabrera says he can play. I'd expect him to say that. But the question is effectiveness. I'd think Janish would be way more effective. Dusty is going to let his loyalty to veterans jeopardize his chances!

Yeah I'm not sure on effectiveness at all, was just sharing what I saw.

In no way was I criticizing the messenger, just the wisdom of the Reds' strategy, especially with Janish having a pretty good hitting record against Hamels!

He also has called about 3 pitches that were not in the strike zone, strike. You get some you lose some.

Get Cabrera out now - he has cost one run already in the first half inning!

God I really wish tiger2003 was in an accident and he lost his vision, and couldn't be on here.

Like I said about 3 or 4 pitches were not in the zone but were called strikes.

Maybe so, but they need to all be right! The hitters are nothing but confused if they are not called right!
