No, the Phillies got hot and the Braves bats started struggling. That pretty much sums it up.

Both of these teams will make the playoffs, in my eyes. I think its going to really come down to the last series of they year, to find out who the NL East champ is going to be.

I disagree. The Marlins are going to get hot and win the East. Phillies and Braves both miss the WC. Yep.

Braves get blanked 6-0 on a great outing by Livan Hernandez going 8 strong and striking out 6 Braves hitters. Livan also went 2-4 at the plate with a HR and 2 RBI.
The Phillies got 6 2/3 from Cole Hamels who struck out 13. Then got 2 1/3 scoreless inning from the bullpen.

Phillies lead is now 2. Halladay goes tomorrow for the Phillies as he looks to win his NL Best 19th game, and a sweep of the Marlins.
  • Tiger2003
It is up to a 3 game lead for the Phillies.

The Phillies bats exploded for 14 hits and 10 runs. Halladay picked up his NL best 19th win tying CC for the MLB lead.
The Braves fell short to the Nats who took 2 of 3 from the Braves.

Both teams have Thursday off. The Phillies will return home for a 3 games series against the Nats. Oswalt will pitch on Friday night for the Phillies. The Braves hit the road for a 3 game series against the Mets, Atlanta will send Hanson to the mound.

Phillies and Braves both win. Phillies keep a 3 game lead. Kendrick will go tomorrow for the Phillies while Blanton will pitch on Sunday.

The Phillies will have the 3 big guns for the 3 game Series against the Braves.
  • Tiger2003
Phillies, and Braves both win on Saturday. Both teams will be looking for a sweep and keep momentum going into what could be the series of the year for both teams.

The Phillies are 13-3 in the month of September.
The Braves are 8-9 in the month of September.
  • Tiger2003
Phillies complete the sweep of the Nats, with 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Werth won it with a walk off 2 run homer to center field.
The Braves also complete the sweet and remain 3 game behind.

The Braves are coming to town, and the Phillies are rolling winning 7 straight and have the 3 big guns waiting for the Braves hitters.

    Phillies still suck!

What have they lost like 2 games in the last 50?
  • Tiger2003
Nope they are 35-15 in there last 50 games and 15-3 this month.

Braves will counter Hamels, Halladay and Oswalt with Jurrjens, Minor and Hansen. Atlanta essentially needs to take two out of three..
  • karen lotz
Jurrjens isn't pitching tonight. He tweaked his knee in a bullpen session Friday night. Brandon Beachy will make his major league debut tonight.

Yah I saw that....Could possibly be a edge to the Braves as the Phillies hitters have never seen this guy....but I think the good Philly hitters will make adjustments.

Karen, what does he like throwing?
  • karen lotz
Haven't seen him throw personally. He went a combined 5-1 in AA and AAA with a 1.73 ERA, lowest in minor league baseball. He was 2-0 with 1.73 over 7 starts after being promoted to Gwinnett. 148 k's and 28 BB in 119.1 innings this year.

Nice......What a challenge for him to be thrown in on. Right in the middle of the race. I was thinking this is game the Braves have to take with Halladay and Oswalt pitching Tuesday and Wednesday.

Keith Law says he has an average fastball with a plus curve and 50/55 change up.

Thanks man...just to let you know the game will be on MLB
  • karen lotz
Yeah I'll probably watch it on MLB.tv so I can watch the Atlanta feed.
  • karen lotz
Which reminds me, I saw a tweet from MLB that John Smoltz and Ernie Johnson will be the lead play by play/color team for the playoffs. Smoltz and Ernie are a pretty entertaining duo to listen to when they are calling games. I doubt they will be as funny during the playoffs but still should do a good job.
  • Tiger2003
Ya I like watching it on MLB.tv as well but living in DC its hard because sometimes we are in the blackout area.

Braves hammering Hamels in the 2nd. Need to get a bunch here and maybe help the young'n settle down.
