Reds math to win division (stolen from redszone.com)

mhs95_06Cueto's last game I think was in the top 5 of games he's pitched. Reds need to think best record in the NL and home field advantage throughout all their post season play!

justincredibleTwo starts is a terrible sample size. You kidding?

its 23. I used Cards wins instead of Cards losses.
Magic number = 163 - reds wins - cards losses = 163 - 78 - 62 = 23.
My bad for the confusion. Braves is down to 27. -
davenobody gives a shit about the Braves, they're a bunch of bitches.

karen lotzBrooks Conrad begs to differ.

justincredibleTwo Reds hats on Hard Knocks tonight. Braylon was one, couldn't tell who the other guy was.

karen lotzIs that a sign from the gods?

Not sure, but I went six to midnight. -
karen lotzWell that's awkward.

justincredibleYeah, my wife called me a gay.

osu45804If Reds go 14-15 rest of the way (92-70) Cards would have to go 23-8 (.719) to tie

sherm03The Reds are cruising right now. Everything is just clicking. Not only that, but their remaining games are @St. Louis, @Colorado, vs. Pittsburgh, vs. Arizona, @Houston twice, a home and away with Milwaukee, and @San Diego. So the St. Louis and San Diego series are the only two really tough tests left.
St. Louis is staring at vs. Cincy, @Milwaukee, 4 game series @Atlanta, vs. Chicago, 4 game series vs. San Diego, @Florida, @Pittsburgh, @Chicago, vs. Pittsburgh, and a 4 gamer vs. Colorado. And as Justin said...all of those games are back-to-back-to-back.
The Reds definitely have the easier path. But I think Reds fans can start watching Atlanta and San Diego to wish some St. Louis luck on them so the Reds can secure the best overall record in the NL. -

At this point, pretty much everything you just said regarding the remaining schedule is moot. The Reds just need to keep winning games. There are only so many games left and every time the Cardinals lose or the Reds win, the magic number gets smaller and smaller. We need to quit looking in the rear view mirror and concentrate on taking care of business.
On a hilarious note, this is posted on the St. Louis Craigslist lost and found page: http://stlouis.craigslist.org/laf/1930411367.html -

sherm03Mooney...I only bring up the schedule to show that the Reds don't have the toughest tests coming up and the Cardinals face bottom feeders they can't seem to beat and two 4-gamers with the other division leaders.
-
georgemc80Ive said it before....The Astros are playing much better than the last time these teams played. They won't be easy games...hopefully the final weekend series means absolutely nothing.
-
TedShecklerSince we can now start looking ahead, I'm not sure the Reds want the best record. They would have to play the wildcard winner, probably Philly. I'm not sure they really want to face Philly and their pitching in the first round.

Braves also have 6 more games with the Phillies -

BigAppleBuckeyeI prefer the Mets' math to win the division:
Mets - take a space shuttle ride into orbit
Rest of NL East - stay on Earth
Meteor - Crash into Earth
Mets win! -
RotinajThe mets would find a way to blow themselves up before earth and finish last.

I agree, the launch would likely get delayed due to rain. -

They'd fly directly into the meteor, blowing themselves up and saving earth in the process. -

Ha, they haven't been able to hit the ball squarely all year, what makes you think they could hit a meteor?
