    Nix gets the break-it-open hit!

There is something special about this team. Everything is just in-sync. Every player executes most of the time. It's beautiful.

Yep. It seems like everyone except Gomes is contributing positively.

Who had the sqeeze before Janish? Hanigan?

    REDS WIN!!
  • Mooney44Cards
Janish. Ball was at his shins and and he like jumped backwards and still got the bunt down.

    Edit: new avatar!

The world is ending, how will we all go on?!??

Oh right, 3 game lead. Fuck half this city I swear to God.
  • Azubuike24
Hanigan had a squeeze earlier in the year. Then Janish had the one against Florida. And Heisey tonight. Good stuff.

Glad to see Jay Bruce with the 4 for 5 and the post-game interview.
  • dave
Before Janish. They had one a few weeks before his.

Edit: Thanks AZ, thought so but wasn't sure.
  • dave
Bruce and Edmonds still have a lot to prove, but this middle of this lineup is starting to look pretty scary again like when Gomes could hit.
  • darbypitcher22
looks like another great win. Have to keep it rolling to keep the momentum. If they sweep and then win 2 of 3 a 7-2 mark on the trip is absolutely outstanding

Great pitching advantage for the Reds tomorrow with Wood against Saunders.

Friday, Bailey back on the hill against Vincente Padilla. The Cards send Westbrook against Bumgarner for the Giants who is a really solid young SP.

Saturday it's Lincecum vs Carpenter, what a match-up that is. Cueto vs Billingsley at Chavez Ravine isn't too shabby itself.

Sunday's scheduled match-ups, although not officially announced yet, would be Zito (SFG) vs Garcia (STL) and Arroyo (CIN) vs Kershaw (LAD). The Reds have to keep it going because they face some tough SP's this weekend, as do the Cardinals.

The BEST NEWS is that Rafael Furcal's rehab didn't go too well, and he is going to be re-evaluated and will not play this weekend against the Reds. If memory serves me correctly, the Dodgers have beaten up on the Reds in recent years and a lot of it has been because Furcal has blazed Cincinnati pitching. It's nice to know he won't be available.

I can see why the D-backs have the worst bullpen in baseball. Having a four-run lead with six outs to go turning that bad so quickly...and a guy with Heilman's career track record staying in as long as he did...that's just insane. The Reds went from spinning their wheels to just scorching the hell out of the ball every damn batter just like that.
  • dave
Nice to see Furcal won't be in the lineup, Russel Martin is also out and probably Manny. Podsednik and Ethier are the guys I'll be scared of in that lineup.
  • Azubuike24
Yep, Martin, Furcal and Ramirez will all be out. The Dodgers have really struggled offensively lately, but I could see 3 tight, fairly low-scoring affairs out there. The Reds rarely play well in LA so tomorrow's game is important. Saunders is a nightmare fit in Arizona IMO, and Wood has been very steady in every start. If the Reds can jump out early they SHOULD be able to take it tomorrow. Tonight, they should've done that because Lopez is one of the worst SP's in the MLB, but could not break out and they needed a special rally to win.

    WOW!

This team is destined to make it deep in the playoffs.

So Edmonds after his HR told Bruce to relax a little, be patient and look for that same pitch. Bruce did. He also hit it out of the park. This is why veteran leadership is essential. If Jim Edmonds can help Jay Bruce become a better player to live up to his potential, then I don't care if the guy plays at all, it was a great trade.

Went to make sexy time when they were down 5-3...woke up to an 11-7 victory...glorious.

Despite posting zero walks, and giving up four to the D-bags, they still found a way to win.

Some teams win with pitching, some teams win with hitting....the Reds can do both. If the pitching isn't there, the offense will pick them up. If the hitting is lousy, the starter will go 8 shutout innings. It's a thing of beauty to watch this team.

Fellas, fellas. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. This team isn't any good and the Cardinals have already locked up the division.

I made that exact point on the Edmonds trade thread. I think he can be a huge asset to the Reds and their YOUNG outfield, especially Bruce!!

    This.

The Reds have a snowballs chance in hell at winning the division.

Hell of a win last night for the Reds. I was dozing off in the 8th and I saw them go up 4 and was like hell Co-Co can't blow this so I crashed.

I'm still waiting for LHSlep to explain himself. He is seriously a notch or two below SQ Crazies in my mind. Pretty big fail IMO.
