Exactly, if you are going to rule every area of sand on the course is a bunker, then you need to control the patrons to not go near them.

Good start by Bubba after all the drama.

WS also has the Ryder in 2020.

Beautiful course, but the officiating buffoons are blowing it.

If it was rule 1 on the local rules and addressed in meeting and posted in the locker room. It is on the player and the caddy. Plain and simple. The rules official said they said patrons would be walking in them and there may be tire tracks. Rules are rules and golf is a game defined by the rules.

Exactly right! How in the F is that a bunker if people are walking through it? Where is the F-ing rake? I don't give a crap if there was a rules sheet...if it's a legit bunker, don't let people walk in it. Retarded officials.

Kaymer and Watson are really taking this down to the wire. Impressive effort by both of them, especially after all the controversy.
  • ironman02
...and then Bubba hits it in the water. Wow.
  • karen lotz
Wow, some odd decisions by both guys here after both playing the first two pretty well.

Yes thank you Mr. PGA spokesman. Did you see the interview? The guy himself knew he was in for a week of hate e-mail. Did they say patrons (and marshalls) would be standing in them? during play?

Nice shot by Kaymer. Looks like he has this one.

If you go by what he said, yes they said they may be standing in them during play. When you blow it 50 yards right of the fairway people will be standing there. These guys aren't just great golfers they are professionals and in that they are supposed to know the rules. Its unfortunate, its dumb, but its a the rules and I do not believe for a minute Johnson considered if it was a bunker or not. He was too busy trying to get the hole over with to question whether the SAND he was hitting off of was a bunker.

    Holy shit.
  • ironman02
Wow! Bubba gave it a shot. That was crazy.
  • wildcats20
That was in without the stick
  • ironman02
    LOL. Kaymer better be careful.

That's what I was thinking. Why not take the flag out?

"When you blow it 50 yards right of the fairway people will be standing there. "

At this course, perhaps due to the idiotic rules. At any other course, no....ever been to Augusta National? You can't even get within spitting distance of a bunker. Because the people running it know how to run it.

Two different courses. All courses aren't alike. Both are immaculate however. Sounds like in '04 they had "waste" and regular bunkers but the players couldn't figure out the difference then so they made them ALL regular bunkers this year.

That only reinforces the point then that the place shouldn't be hosting PGA tournaments.

If all bunkers are considered regular traps, then you need to have enough marshalls around to keep people out of them, and if you can't do that then you shouldn't be hosting tournaments.

I disagree, I LOVE this course and think it's a great venue for majors. I would play this course before I would play Pebble Beach. Anyway, that was one of the best tournaments in quite awhile, no matter what happened to Dustin Johnson. Feel horrible for Johnson, and I didn't think it was a bunker either, but whateva.
