Reds vs Cardinals....Game 1 Biggest Series of the Century for the Reds
-
wildcats20Rolen was late getting the glove back down to tag him.
-
tk421Ha ha, figures. I take the Reds to win in vBookie and they are down 7 in the 4th. My luck.
-
mhs95_06Should Dusty get BP and Rolen out of the game to rest up for the next two? You'd think based on prior history he'd be planning to lay Rolen off on Wednesday, but maybe he can rest him now to play then.

mhs95_06Leake couldn't stand the prosperity of MLB changing the scoring it Pitt on his six run inning from all earned to all un-earned, and promptly gives up 7 earned! I do agree with the scoring change. Check that, Leake only charged with just 6 earned due to the rare SB and PB on the same pitch, and then the judgement that without the passed ball that Lopez would not have scored on Pujols single to left with 2 outs. I think it should have been 7 earned that Lopez would have scored from 2nd.
-
jordo212000Looks like Leake should have been the guy that got sent down
-
mhs95_06Sending Leake down may be the right thing to do also. Homer could take his next turn. He pitched something like 7 shut-out innings and no walks over the week-end, and I think I heard he doesn't have any more options left. Anybody heard who they chose to take off the 40 man roster to put Edmonds on?

They sent Wood down because they were scheduling him to miss his next start anyway. Now he can "miss a start" but still pitch. -

And they can do the same with Leake, pitch the game at AAA the day after Wood and be ready to go if they need him after that. If Homer does well he stays. Reds are in very good position with their pitching. Wouldn't surprise me if they traded Harang and ate a lot of his salary to open a roster spot. -
wildcats20^^If they sent Leake down, who would have pitched tonight?
-
mhs95_06The guys on ESPN brought up a good point. Since Fisher has been spent as the long man for a couple days by going 3.1 innings and 60 pitches, why not option him down again, and bring up a fresh arm. They mentioned Chapman, but Burton would also work.

I mean send him down tomorrow! -
wildcats20Gotcha lol
And I agree with Schulman, bring Aroldis up. -
wildcats20Brucey with a walk and Ramon drives him in with a double down the left field line.
-
mhs95_06I don't think Carpenter is going to make his 108 pitch vBookie thresh-hold.
-
wildcats20Carpenter is probably done now.
Or not. -
jordo212000Yup. Let's send Leake down. He has been scuffling for a while now. Give Homer his spot. Homer was due back soon anyways. Time to shut Leake down for a while. Then, in a perfect world send Fisher down for Chapman

He's probably done now due up 2nd in the 8th with lefties Nix and Votto up first in the 8th. Question is will Dusty pinch hit for Nix against the probable lefty pitcher for the Cardinals? -
mhs95_06Miller gets the pinch hitter plus the other two lefties out to get thru the 8th unscathed and still up by 5 runs.
-
mhs95_06Let's see if LaRussa is smart enough to leave Miller in for at least another left hand hitter!

Yes, he is. Gets Dusty to put up Cairo for Bruce, then brings in the righty! -
gerb131Gotta shake this one off and get it done tomorrow.
-
daveI was shocked at how many Cards fans were there, I'd say 30% of the lower level. I've probably been to about 12 Reds/Cards games at GABP and I've always enjoyed their fans, but tonight there were several douches. I saw a pair get tossed, another old guy act like a complete tool after the grand slam, and a couple other young guys screaming in the walkways that the Reds suck. Must be bandwagon fans.
Hopefully tomorrow is better, we left after the 6th to watch a good band on fountain square since we are going to 3 more games this week. -
justincredibleI'm going tomorrow and I'll probably wear my "Cardinals take it in their Pujols" tshirt.
