Indians @ Red Sox, 8/2-8/5

  • gorocks99
Big series for Boston. Realistically they need to take 3 out of 4 to keep pace with the Rays and Yankees, and probably need to sweep to gain any ground. Tribe fans, what team will Cleveland bring into Fenway? Honestly, will it be a bunch of AAA guys (cue joke about the team being that all year...)?

Regardless, would be nice to see Ellsbury take the field during this series (as his rehab is going well) and maybe even get some good news on Pedroia, who is finally running and fielding ground balls.

Little side story is, of course, Justin Masterson's return to Fenway. He dominated the Red Sox earlier this year in Cleveland to the tune of a 2-hit complete game shutout, but has been mediocre at best for the season as a whole.

    Lackey vs Carmona, 8/2
    Beckett vs ???? 8/3
    Lester vs Masterson, 8/4
    Matsuzaka vs Tomlin, 8/5

tribe splits or takes 3 of 4 in this series!!!!!!!!!!!! kids are playing well.........
  • HitsRus
Tribe will be lucky to split. There was a reason most of these guys were in AAA ball...inconsistency. And now they have no veterans to show them a good example. The "Monster" will affect the game too...rookie pitching, fielding and hitting will play to the home team's advantage.

Can someone list the roster...I need to learn their names...lol
  • tigerfan82
ah you young Tribe fans of the 90's......................welcome to the REAL tribe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Pitching match ups are not in our favor this series. A split would be a big accomplishment.

Should be interesting to see how Fausto bounces back tonight. He got roughed up pretty good a few days ago.

no reason the tribe shouldn't sweep this series.

Choo with a great catch. STO's replay sucked but it was an awesome catch.

Brantley will back back up for this weekend now that Kearns is gone. He needs these 2 months of big league ABs.
  • burt07
I know they're going to bring him up but I almost wouldn't be mad if they kept Brantley down in AAA the rest of the season. Obviously there's a spot for him but it just remains pretty clear he isn't ready at the plate. I really like his eye for taking pitches but other than that just haven't seen much. But, whatever I guess.
  • dave
I don't think there's anything left for him in AAA though, he's hitting something like .400 since he was sent down and is .323 with a .401 OBP this year. I agree he has a lot to learn, reminds me of LaPorta last year. IRRC he really got hot at the end of the year once he was back up.

    Go Team!!!
  • burt07
Yeah I had forgotten about the way he played when he came up last year. Like I said, it doesn't really hurt anything for him to come up anyway, just not seeing it yet. Hoping for the best though because I really like his game and obviously you want to see some results out of that CC trade.

First off, thank you to gorocks99 for starting this thread. I remember watching Marco "SCOOT-ero" playing for the Aeros. He has done well in his MLB career. I didn't think that he would make it. Back then, he was known as "scu-TEAR-o. We up, though, after 4!

    Slelly Duncan = Goat

was that Brown's first big league hit tonight?
  • burt07
    Yes it was.

Crowe walks with the bases loaded in the 6th and it's 4-1 Tribe as they run off Lackey.

Nothing like a young hungry team.

    That a boy Choo!!!!

    6-1 Tribe

Fausto looking very good through 6. I hadnt realized that he warmed-up twice before the Yankees game and found out his best friend on the team (Peralta) was traded just 15 minutes before his warm-up. It would be pretty tough to pitch after that.

That would definately suck, and make it hard to pitch to your best ability.

    Santana's ankle just got destroyed.
