Indians @ Red Sox, 8/2-8/5

yobro08yea beckett cries like a little girl yet hes the dbag beaning people, the tribe better come out and show a statement by beaning the first guy up
-
BRFThe highlight for me on this game was Tom Hamilton calling Becket a "punk". The lowlight: Huff falls to 2-10...ouch!
-
HitsRusHuff didn't pitch that bad. You are not going to win many games with only 3 hits.
Hell, even the pitchers didn't 'hit' a BoSox batter.
Damn Red Sox are a bunch of pussies...they didn't even get hit. They can dish it out but can't take it.
Yeah, if Hammy callled him a punk, it was spot on. -

not going to win many games when you have two pitchers (huff and masterson) that have a combined record of 5-20 -
tigerfan82Looks like we are on our way to atleast 2 wins in this series.............like I said, the kids are playing well.
-
grodtIf only Justin Masterson could start every game against the Sox. Against Boston 2-0 0.65 ERA....rest of MLB 2-10 5.98 ERA

In due time.
Once he can consistently bring it, he's going to be a VERY good pitcher. His stuff is just so filthy. I think Rick Manning made a great point today in that Justin Masterson has a lot of "movement" in his wind up and delivery.. If he can work out the kinks a bit, that may be just the trick to getting him on the road to consistency. -
HitsRus^^^^ Masterson definitely has good stuff...I'm liking the V-Mart trade better lately.
Tribe can put a hurt on the wienerheads...er...chowderheads, in the finale tonite. Tribe leads the season series between the two clubs 4-3. The sugardale boys need to win these games against the lower rung of the AL if they hope to keep pace with the Rays and Yank$. -
royal_k12- 8 since the break....not too bad considering they are in the hardest part of their schedule. I like these young kids. They play with no fear and aren't intimidated.

gorocks99Youk is done for the year - headed for surgery tomorrow. Dang it

burt07Wow, I think that all about does it for the Sox then. Even though Beltre has been on fire this year, Youkilis is without a doubt their best hitter and without him I have a hard time believing they'll be able to keep up with the Rays and Yankees.
-
gorocks99Yeah, there's pretty much no way they'll keep pace now. They needed to be blistering in the last couple months to keep pace anyhow, but now it will be that much more difficult. With 17 games left against the Yankees/Rays, there's still a small small chance (if the Rays start napping like they did awhile back) but it's pretty much over.
-
daveSantana out 4-6 months for surgery. Not good news for his future behind the plate.
-
burt07The only way I could see the Sox getting back in this is if they start to outpitch everyone else. With everyone back healthy they have a pretty unreal rotation in Beckett, Lester, Buchholz, Lackey, and Matsuzaka. The key will be guys to pitch like they're capable of, specifically Lackey and Dice-K. So I guess ALL is not lost, but with how strong the other contenders have been, it's going to be difficult.
-
ts1227Penalties from the fracas the other night:
Indians 3B coach Steve Smith - 2 game suspension and fined undisclosed amount
Jensen Lewis, Josh Beckett, Mike Cameron, Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis - fined undisclosed amount
Interesting side note, 4 of the 5 Boston players are on the DL.. hurt enough to sit out 15 days or more, but not hurt enough to go try to start a fight. -

Probably will be the starting 1B come spring. -
burt07I could see Santana or LaPorta potentially becoming the DH, probably Santana.
In game news, Choo hit a dinger in the 1st to put the Tribe up 1-0, now heading to the bottom of the 2nd. -
HitsRusI like what I've seen of Marson (take #2). The kid plays hard. If he can just keep his BA up, he might tirn out ok.

davewalks will haunt

vball10seta batting practice fastball to Beltre, then two beautiful breaking balls to Lowell--are you frickin' kidding me??
-
BRFSteve Smith getting two games out is BS. He didn't do anything to deserve that. Cabrera's slide last night: perfectly legit, just like trying to break up a DP at 2nd. Yet, the BoSox fans scream about it. Oh well, I guess that's what happens when you are fading from contention. Go Tribe.
-
burt07It seems like the Indians usually manage to make Dice-K look like Cy Young every time out.
-
BRFWell, at least we pushed them to the limit tonight. Series split. Good road trip, all considered. Keep pecking away........God! Why am I trying to be so upbeat? Someone smack me and bring me back to reality!
-
HitsRus^^^^It's hard not to root for our guys. I'm pissed off at the front office...but I still root for the uniform, and keep trying to be optimistic.
-
tigerfan82life is to short not to be upbeat BRF..................and you know it, these kids are fun to watch !!!!!!!!!!!!
