MLS owns Manchester

I second the Fulham post. :D

Been a fan ever since i went to England with my club team and we were "hosted" by players from the their youth squad, played against them and got to practice with them a bit, etc. Great experience, and will always be a fan.

As someone trying to choose a team to follow didn't Liverpool go through a ton of changes this year. I believe they got rid of their coach and are losing their best players most likely. I think I've narrowed it down to Fulham or VIlla unless Donovan somehow ends up at Everton. If Donovan goes to Man City I will watch and cheer for him but cant really root for someone just buying a trophy. How are Fulham and Villa youth programs do they produce any talent from within.

Uhm actually Liverpool lost their coach but replaced him with a very viable manager in Roy Hodgson, but kept all of their best players (plus losing no one of any value) and even added Joe Cole who played for Chelsea last year.

Also, Liverpool is close to acquiring Luke Young from Villa.

Edit: It looks like Fernando Torres may be joining Chelsea. Fuck me in the beard. Drogba AND Torres?

Let's hope the rumors aren't true.

I heard about the Torres to Chelsea move as soon as the EPL title was won. That will be a nasty forward combo.

Yeah heard about it too, but didn't want to believe it. Didn't say anything about it until now because it looks like there's substantial truth to the rumors and a deal could be done as early as today.

However, Hodgson seems to be confident that Torres will remain at Anfield.

I pretty much read the rumors all the time, but have given up having an opinion. We arent over there reading all their headlines, watching all their press conferences, etc. What we read usually comes off as 50-50 when in fact something is almost a certainty. Its fun for me to read about, but until anything happens or doesnt, ive completely stopped trying to guess.

Torres just doesn't fit with Chelsea...Idk, something about that just seems off to me.

    It'd be...weird.

You want a team with a youth program follow Barcelona...they have the best in the world at the moment, by far.

BUT, you dbe a "frontrunner" so dont do it lol. I follow La Liga more, but I always enjoyed Fulham and Everton in the EPL as well as Spurs and Aston Villa. Everton and Fulham always seem to have Americans which is nice and recently Villa and Spurs are actually REALLY good. If I were to just randommly start this season it might be more fun for you to pick Villa or Spurs since you will get to see them on TV the most. The ESPN games will likely have them a good number of times, and Spurs will be on at least SIX times for the Champions League, maybe more if they advance.

It'd be like a British dude choosing the Yankees. You'd think he was a putz. Well, this is no different.

    I agree with this.

It just seems weird he is in EPL at all and not Spain to me. With Liverpool he had a ton of Spanish/South American imports as well because Benitez was managing so it fit. Now, he just seems out of place in England....but thats just me.

Most people I know (including myself at the age of 6) only were really able to follow the ECC/Champions League back in the day. It was the only competition on in America. So we choose teams in it. I choose Barca without even knowing they were "Barca" then they went to the finals and lost to ManU. A lot of my friends choose teams the same way. They picked someone who was on TV for a few years in a row. It was the Champions League, so naturally they were the best of the best and when the leagues and internet became readily available to us, the teams we followed were always competing for the top spot in the league.

I guess it doesn't make it any different than American sports lol especially the whole Lebron saga.

and S & L, I'm certainly hoping Torres realizes he doesn't fit with Chelsea too.

Now, I won't be too terribly concerned if he leaves because Babel and N'Gog are both trying to show their worth as strikers, but at the same time, you never want to lose a player of Torres' caliber, even though I would imagine he won't have full soccer legs until several weeks into the season.

Dude Torres fits at Chelsea. Now that teams have to deal with him and Drogba....AND Anelka. Chelsea will be scary good.

If the deal does go down I'm interested to see how all three would fit. They might dump Anelka.
  • CinciX12
I'm curious to watch tonight for ManU vs our supposed 'All-Stars'. They probably do better because MLS wont be used to playing with well with one another on the same side.

I know Torres fits with Chelsea, I was just saying I hope he realizes he doesn't, so he'll stay at Liverpool :D

I don't think Torres fits with Chelsea..can't explain why, just a feeling.

Why not choose the Clippers? Their fans are a hell of a lot more "rugged" than the celebrity fans of the Lakers....
My parents lived in LA from 1980 to 1992. I was born in 1986.

The Clippers didn't move to LA until 1984.
    ...........................

This was at the height of the "Showtime" Era, and my parents were both bandwagon fans, I'm assuming. My mom was probably one of 10 million white women who wanted to blow Magic Johnson during that time, so that's where her fandom came in.

As a kid, I went to a plethora of games at Dodger Stadium and the Fabulous Forum.

During the Shaq-Kobe era, I was in middle school, and my mom was a big time Shaq fan, and we always used to watch the Lakers play-off games together.

I was just simply raised a Dodgers/Lakers/Raiders fan. When the Raiders moved to Oakland, I wasn't much of a football fan, so I arbitrarily chose the Bengals because I happen to prefer cats over dogs (Browns). But I realized that the Bengals are pretty much a joke and a clown of a franchise and better representation of the Kentucky-Appalachian region than Ohio, so I've rolled with the Browns ever since. (If that's considered "band-wagon" or "front-running" then so be it).

    ...............

As for the EPL, you have Tottenham, Newcastle (back on the grind), Aston Villa, Everton, Sunderland, West Ham, etc. etc. that are all cheer-worthy. I roll with the Villans cause they're raw, but they can be frustrating at times.

This thread title should be changed to "Manchester (United) owns MLS (All Stars).

They put on a clinic in the 2nd half.

    Cause we didnt have Henry.

And once again the MLS proves that they are pathetic and inferior. Jesus.

So when they beat Chelsea a few years ago they were amazing and EPL couldnt handle us???
  • CinciX12
Did you watch the first 20 min? Hell the first 30 seconds is all you needed to know about how that game was going to go.

And yes, Chelsea should have beat them a few years back as well.

Ok??? Did you watch KC beat those same players? That game hardly shows that the MLS is pathetic, and everyone knows they are inferior to the EPL.
  • CinciX12
I think KC was more of ManU just not caring. This game was on a bigger stage and they were looking for a result.

Thats fine, but it still wouldnt explain when the MLS All-Stars beat Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham, Chivas, Celtic and tied Everton? They looked bad tonight, but they have looed very good in other years, so to just focus on this and ignore those results is kind of short-sighted and an inaccurate portrayal of the league.
