MLS owns Manchester

It's the 21st century. I watch 80% of Aston Villa games on the Internet. We don't live in the 1960's, the days of front running fans hiding behind the "They were the only team on TV" excuse is over. Internet, Twitter, YouTube, games on ESPN, etc. etc.

Plus, if you're a Lakers/Celts fan, and you've never heard of the 76ers/Warriors, then how much of a fan are you to begin with?

Like I said, anybody that chooses to root for Chelsea, ManU, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barca, Real, etc. etc. etc. can catch the D fade because they arbitrarily chose a front runner and they can burn in the depths of hell for that.

So why did you choose Villa? Do you even know where that is on the map? lol

I agree, that line up should beat KC every time but let's put them on a level playing field. KC is match fit, Man U are going through the paces and there's no way they will go full tilt to win a friendly that is nothing more than a training session for them.

Meanwhile, MLS teams are already in midseason form and playing to win.
    Exactly.

Completely agree. I was just stating talent wise they are better. The initial argument was the best players for ManU arent playing....but in reality, who did play is still more talented.

But this is like try-outs for a lot of guys, and even guys like Berbatov are fighting for playing time when the real season starts...hell maybe even playing to not be sold lol.

I actually usually expect the better MLS teams to win just because of the training like mode of the EPL teams and the fine tuned:D form of the MLS teams who have the chemistry already down.

Yes, I could show you where Villa is. It's in Birmingham, which is in the midlands of England.

I chose Villa because Randy Lerner owns the Browns & he owns Villa. They're a mid-level club and they won't be winning anything crazy in the near future, so when they do, I will have put time into being a fan and it will actually mean something.

Anybody that chose one of the Top 4 teams did so only to front-run. When choosing a team arbitrarily, I thought there's a gentleman's agreement that you can't pick a team that's perennially a contender. Especially in a sport without a salary cap.

It'd be like a British dude choosing the Yankees. You'd think he was a putz. Well, this is no different.

BUT, either way you slice it, this is a good reflection of the MLS. Especially to the MLS/soccer haters in America.

    Weak.

And what is this I know where Villa is on a map shit? Oh look at me, I know that Chelsea doesn't actually play in Chelsea. Look at me, look at me.

    You're a tool.
  • Sage
*sigh* If the denizens of Cincinnati believed in reading things, you would know I was talking about Villa on a map because I was even asked if I could point to where they played.
  • CinciX12
    I understand that.

And I don't know why you would bother liking Villa if you are a Browns fan, its the main reason I think that Lerner blatantly doesn't give a shit about what goes on in Cleveland.
  • Sage
You're right. He doesn't care. That's why he pays a guy TEN MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR to handle business there. Sounds like a guy who doesn't care about what happens in Cleveland.

Lol yeah that $10 million probably towers above the money he puts into Villa.

How can you tell me I am a front runner for choosing chelsea?

My favorite player, Arjen Robben played for PSV (my then favorite team). Then he transfered to Chelsea (when they had still won nothing, and abromovich had yet to make a real cash splash)...After watching him play there over 60 times on tv/internet and 2 times in person I fell in love with the atmosphere.

    So fuck your bandwagon comments

Sage, bro, I'm a Cleveland fan period. I suffer through 3 sports seasons EVERY year. I'm not a Lakers fan, I don't know what it's like to watch my team win a championship (unless we're talking about the Buckeyes or the Columbus Crew) so it feels good to have ONE team that can actually deliver me the goods.

I've been following the Red Devils for about 6 or 7 years and I've grown into a pretty big fan. From Old Trafford to Sir Alex, the prestige and history of ManU is 2nd to none.

They may or may not care, that's not really my point. My point was more in line that the MLS isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

It's obvious this is a "preseason friendly" for ManU and KC is in midseason form.

Honestly, I'll admit I'm more of a bandwagon fan, but that's because when I started rooting for Liverpool a couple years ago, I didn't know they were one of the most storied franchises in soccer (obviously I do now, I know a lot more about soccer and more specifically the EPL now), but I started rooting for them because they have an awesome anti-Chelsea chant (my really good friend is a huge Chelsea fan) and they have one of my favorite players in Gerrard.

Personally I don't give a shit Sage if you think I'm a "frontrunner", because frankly, it's almost impossible to not be one when rooting for a foreign team in a foreign league unless you have some obscure reason for liking a team (such as you liking Aston b/c of Lerner).

If I had to arbitrarily choose a team, it would be Newcastle because their fans are rugged as hell. I would just never choose to cheer for a team that was perennially good.

I just thought that was an understood and unwritten rule. I guess not.

    But you're a Lakers fan.

Why not choose the Clippers? Their fans are a hell of a lot more "rugged" than the celebrity fans of the Lakers....

I dont follow any team constantly I just enjoy watching good soccer and usually watch Man U, Man City, Chels, Liverpool, and a few other when I see them. That said I think I need to pick a team to follow who do you all recommend. If Donovan (not gonna happen) went to Everton that would make my choice easy. Right now I'm leaning toward A Villa.
  • Murdski99
Yes Aston Villa would be a classy choice.

I never really followed European soccer much, but the World Cup piqued my interest and I'm trying to pick a team to follow. I don't want to pick a constant winner (to easy) and am leaning towards Everton, since Howard is there and they qualify under the "not winning much" requirement. However, if anyone can suggest a better team, for instance if Everton has a bad rep, I'm not really set in stone.

Liverpool finished 7th last year, pick them!!! ;)

They should contend this year for the EPL crown. If not, hopefully they can at least do some damage at the European Cup (assuming they don't win EPL but still finish in top 3).

You guys are just jealous you don't have fans like this guy.

FULHAM! Cool part of London, stadium is as old school as you can get, right on the Thames. Not to mention Dempsey is there now and McBride used to be.

They also had their best season ever last year.

Not sure how i feel about these "overseas" and "summer" tours that clubs do anymore.

I got to see the Wellington (New Zealand) Phoenix play and beat Boca Juniors this past weekend, and it was one of the most boring games i've ever been to.

Just can't get into them, not in the least.

But, as others have said, it can't hurt KC's confidence, any win is a good win at this point.
