Yeah, that would have been a great ending for Watson if that chip would have went in. I thought he had it.

Why don't you give us all a break and just give it a rest. We get it, you don't like Tiger.

Is your wife one of Tiger's mistresses?? That's the only logical reason for you to hate him that much.

STFU and go butt fuck your Tiger blow up doll.

That didn't take long. Oosthuizen bogey's the first already and his lead is doing to 3.

Phil just completely pissed himself as he had it to -4 and has now went double bogey, bogey at 16,17 to fall back to just -1. If he had been able to post -5 by parring those holes and making birdie at 18 he would have been very much back in the tourney as it is looking like -8,-9 will be leading the tournament heading into Sunday.

Henrik Stenson has the round of the day going at the moment. -6 thru 15 and -8 overall and just 3 shots back. Who knows what is going through Oosthuizen's head and whether he'll be able to hit the ball on the face the rest of the day. Having to watch Calc beat it around probably won't help.

Oosthuizen still at -11 is surprising me
  • IggyPride00
Oosthuizen has righted the ship and is at -13 now. Casey also has a phenomenal round going to get to -11 (that triple yesterday on the road hole has to be killing him).

These 2 have really separated themselves from the field because they next closest score is -7 with Stenson.

    Oosthuizen -13
    Casey -11
    Stenson -7

    Tiger's game has really deteriorated.

Eh I don't know about that. He has been striking the ball pretty well this week. His putter has been letting him down again, must be the inferior equipment. He just hasn't been able to put everything together but he is pretty close.

Oosthuizen has now moved to -14, and frankly he could have gone much lower as he has missed multiple short putts.

I am really impressed with his game so far as I was expecting him to really crack today. Tomorrow is a totally different beast, but there is no one anywhere near the lead that has a major title, so they will all be feeling the pressure.

Other than Casey he is 6 clear of 3rd place and 8 clear of 4th place right now, and it is really his tournament lose. Unless he totally pisses down his leg it will take a heroic effort outside of Paul Casey to catch him.

That drive he just hit on 17 was amazing.
  • karen lotz
Yeah I definitely didn't see him hanging in like he did today. I think tomorrow will be a dogfight with him and Casey but I would for sure like to see Westwood get into the mix. You are right about him needing to do something inhuman.
  • IggyPride00
Wow, Oosthuizen will have a good run at eagle on 18. With Casey missing that short birdie Oosthuizen could really blow this tournament open if he makes that.

Holy shit, Rick Reilly's stuff at this tournament is beyond retarded.

A 5 minute production on why Oosthuizen shouldn't win because he has a confusing last name?

He is horrible. I don't understand how he is still employed at ESPN, and that is saying a lot considering the shit that ESPN has put out there recently (30 for 30 not included)

If dustin johnson wins, I get 400 pounds (bet 5 pounds on him earlier in the week). I need some crazy shit to go down at the top of the leaderboard lol.

His act would fit on some second rate show like First Take, where they stick their D-list talent like Bayless... but to have him pulling this horseshit at the British Open is what is frustrating

Honestly him on First Take would still be giving his talent too much credit. I'd say give him a weekly segment on Jim Rome is Burning. Its like he is trying to be Kenny Mayne with his little "stories" except he is not funny at all.

John has had a much better year than Tiger has, and I'm not referring to golf. I think it's entirely understandable that Daly might be appreciated a little more than Tiger right now.

Surprised that Oosthuizen held up so well today. With a 4 shot lead, it's definitely his to lose. Casey and Stenson, or possibly someone else, could give him a run tomorrow though. Really wish Tiger and Phil would have made a move today. Things are always a little more interesting, at least to me, when they're lurking near the top.

Add me to the list of people that are surprised by Oosthuizen, I think that might be the whole world outside of his family. I really didn't see it from him, he started to get shaky at the end of his round on Thursday and I just though to myself that this couldn't be a guy that would be in contention down the stretch. Obviously it's entirely within the realm of possibility for him to blow this thing, just look at Calcavecchia or any other players at the Open the last few years. However, he hasn't really shown any chinks in the armor these last two rounds, I think he's able to keep it together tomorrow.

Yeah 4 shots is a lot to make up but considering what Dustin Johnson did in the first few holes of his final round at the US Open plus the possibility of horrible playing conditions, anything is possible.

I thought about that, but in a lot of ways the 2 Opens are entirely different beasts.

St. Andrews is so open that the bombers can hit it anywhere for the most part (except a few of the really bad bunkers) and still have shots at the green. There isn't that element of superthick rough, long golf course, and lightning fast greens that kills you at the U.S Open.

There is alot more room for error at the British Open than the U.S.

St. Andrews is essentially defenseless if the wind doesn't blow, as evidence by the way the guys turned it into a pitch and putt most of Thursday.

If the wind blows, its anyones guess. Although the flip side to that is in 40 mile an hour winds no one is shooting 65 as we saw Friday so that doesn't necessarily help those that are 10+ shots back as they would need a monumental collapse of epic proportions.

Oosthuizen could shoot 80 tomorrow and still post -7. Quite frankly if the wind is bad enough that the best he can do is 80 assuming he doesn't completely lose his mind from the pressure, you would still have to like his chances. He has just built a huge cushion.

A collapse on his part is not out of the cards, I just think the nature of St. Andrews and the set-up (little rough, wide fairways, slow greens) makes it harder for a guy to totally collapse the way you can at a U.S Open as the grind of being of the round (lightning greens, rough everywhere, narrow fairways, very few birdie chances) makes it much easier to meltdown.

Oosthuizen, even if he plays poorly, buy nature of being as long as he is will have plenty of birdie chances tomorrow because of how short many of the par 4's are. Unless someone in the group at -5,-6 shoots 63 or 64 tomorrow, or the wind blows like it did in the afternoon yesterday and causes the leaders to shoot 80, I see little way anyone other than Oosthuizen or Casey wins the tournament as you are just not going to shoot 80 without God awful scoring conditions.

The other thing I think that helps a guy like him or Casey tremendously is that no one within 10 shots of the lead owns a Major Championship. Having a Tiger or Phil 3-4 back would make the nerves much worse than a whole bunch of guys who also have no major. You would just feel more confident I would think because all of your closest competitors are feeling the same pressure you are never having won it.

Speaking of Dustin Johnson, it's good to see him playing well. It looks like the collapse at Pebble hasn't been too traumatic for him.

Oosthuizen could definitely blow up tomorrow, especially if the wind plays a factor. He hasn't been on this type of stage before, and even though he handled it well today, Sunday is a little different.
