Former Barcelona/Arsenal Star and France International, Theirry Henry joins the MLS

Just to clarify, I think Anelka is better than Henry, thats why he started up top. I just think a 4-3-3 was dumb and he used Lass Diarra's absence as an excuse to only have 1 striker and keep Henry on the bench. The best line-up would have been Anelka AND Henry up top, but for some reason Domenech couldnt find a second holding mid.....yeah right.

I fucking hate Henry. Easily one of my least favorite players.

It's good for the MLS though, and I'll definitely try to hit up Crew stadium to see him next season.

Ohiobucks, I trust your source. While it certainly intrigues me to hear he had multiple offers, until I see him play for New York, I remain stubborn in my opinion lol.

At this point, we'll see how he does in America.

Henry isn't at his peak but he is certainly not washed up is the moral of this thread.

Yeah I've been doing a sports internship with him. Its awesome, in the last 2 weeks I've heard from Arsene Wenger, Kevin Keegan, Lucas Radebe, John Harkes, and Clint Dempsey

    Play against them ;)

    Ah, ok, just curious. :)

Have a sibling who played for Baldwin-Wallace 2003-2007, and a little brother who is going to be playing at OWU this year, so always curious to see folks from those teams/leagues around.

Thankfully, OWU is going to be streaming games online this year for the first time, i believe, so i'll be able to watch some of them.

Will definitely be hitting up Crew Stadium next season.

Henry is still a very good player and undoubtedly could play and start on A LOT of EPL and La Liga teams. He's never been my favorite, but he's always one of my top players.

Now if only the MLS could lure Ronaldinho over :D

did you read my link a few posts up???? He could be here by the end of the year. Its been talked about for over a year now, like Henry. I think it will come at some point.

Clearly the facts show that Henry could still start on at least half of EPL and La Liga teams. While yes he is now 32 and has lost a shade or two of his pace, you can't doubt his finishing ability. Remember that he is the EPL's third all time leading goal scorer with 174 goals, only trailing Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer who both played in England well into their late 30's. And with the three years he spent in Barcelona possesing almost a goal every other game strike rate with 35 in 80 matches proving his La Liga credentials. I believe that he will be very sucessful in the MLS for the next 3 or 4 years and will most likely wind up being the best player to play in MLS so far......unless the dhino does sign with L.A. of course.

Henry with a goal in the first half of his debut tonight w/ NY against Tottenham. He looks damn good out there.
  • Laley23
Anyone else see that Henrys former teammate at Monaco and for France, David Trezuguet may be heading to join him in NYC next summer? His agent says he really wants to after his Juve contract is up this season.
  • sportchampps
Henry wanted to come to mls because he said he wanted to walk streets and go unnoticed also 2 years ago he had a great season for barca last year he was down but since the zidane era French players have pretty much always slacked in world cup years the French coachs nickname is crazy for a reason coaches don't always play the best players or even take their best players ie Italy leaving rossi off their roster

The fact is, the MLS is definitely improving as a league. Obviously it isn't and NEVER will be at the same level as the top international leagues, but in it's own right, it's becoming a very solid league and has definitely crossed the line of being watchable and entertaining now.

The league is growing and the revenue is there now to support these types of moves.

I hope the Crew can make a big splash signing one of these days. The Crew has been one of the top MLS teams for the last few years, including a League championship a couple seasons ago in which they beat the NY Red Bulls to claim it.
