McCann said after the game that the game did mean more this year because the Braves are contending for the NL Pennant. Exhibition or not, there is some meaning to the game and I would rather have someone playing who has something to play for.

    So dumb...so, so dumb.

You act like players on a bad team are also bad..unmeasurable flaw in your logic.

5 time All Star Brian McCann said this game had added importance to him because of the possibility of the Braves making the World Series. I'm not saying that players from bad teams are automatically bad, but you can't tell me that they approach the game with the same intensity. I'm sorry that I don't share the same logic as you S&L, should I start hurling homophobic slurs and tell you to GTFO now? Is that how you would handle it? You can do better than calling me dumb can't you?

"The game counts," McCann said. "It means more to me this year than years past, because we are in first place. You think about it more when you're sitting in that position instead of coming here 10, 12 games out. Home-field advantage is exactly that. It's a home-field advantage."

Maybe that's why Votto played so poorly, he is aware of the impending fire sale and didn't prepare himself mentally before the game. :p

Yeah but 'wanting it more' doesn't trump raw skill...so it's not like the players from poor teams would do any worse than players on good teams.

And I wouldn't call Votto's performance poor, I mean he hit the ball right on the button twice...just right at someone.

Yeah one quote by one player clearly means the players from non-contenders didn't try hard at all.

Man, Ryan Braun sure looked like he wasn't trying on that diving catch. Give it up, its a dumb argument to make. These are professional athletes who are wired to win. They aren't gonna go out there and not care about their team winning whether they can reap the rewards from the win or not.

Oh and a pitcher from the 1st place Yankees got the loss, while a pitcher from the 1st place White Sox gave up the bases clearing double, and a pitcher from the non-contending Nationals got the win. Hmmmm. Marlon Byrd from the non-contending Cubs had a great at-bat that set up McCann's double, oh and that little play throwing out Big Papi in the 9th.

Wow, the more I think, the worse your argument gets.

Please tell me where I said people don't try. I never said players from worse teams aren't good. I'm sorry I don't share yours and S&L's views. Maybe I'll wait until you say something intelligent and then I will just agree with you. Good talk.

You insinuated that players from bad teams don't try as hard by posting a quote from a Braves player saying how he tried really hard because it possibly meant something for his team.

lol Did I say they were a lock? I think the Braves will take their chances against the likes of Cincinnati and San Diego.

It's often on here that words are slightly elevated to aid one's arguements.

****Would I rather have Billy Wagner or Matt Capps with the game on the line.......BILLY WAGNER

****Did Matt Capps throw one of the best pitches of the night to get out of the inning.....absolutely

****Can guys have a good time and compete at an extremely high level....sure can...ex Valverde versus Byrd.....awesome competition

****Again....I'd rather have Wagner...and I wish he could have been there......but Capps did a great job when it mattered most and that's what is about.

***I believe most players on winning/good chemistry clubs have a little more focus than they might if they were on a lesser/struggling club.

OH....and Torii Hunter is the most overrated all-around player in baseball history.
