If Lebron were to leave....

  • Rotinaj
I reallllly want Lebron to stay but i cant say i can blame him for leaving(if he does, and yes i would be mad at first) He can play with D-Wade and Bosh in Miami or Jamison and Mo in Cleveland.....Doesnt seem like 2 hard a choice sadly.

That's what I said a couple of weeks ago if Lebron leaves. Right now, as sad as it sounds, Randy Lerner may be the best owner in Cleveland sports.

The window wasn't closed to win a championship in Cleveland. That's the only thing.

    It's difficult but not impossible.

Maybe they get to the second half, again, and pull off the right trade to get them over the hump.

I guess I'm old school in thinking that if he kept trying to win a championship in Cleveland, even failing several times before getting that one, it would be deserving of more respect than if he went to this all-star team and had an easier time getting one or more than one.

I agree. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but it looks kinda fishy that the salary cap numbers for the NBA were significantly HIGHER than projected. Ferry was "all in" because he thought if he doesn't get the title THIS year that Lebron bolts. Had he KNOWN they were going to conveniently screw Cleveland with this updated salary cap, he could have stood pat and the Cavs would have had about $40 million to play around with in cap money.

He leaves and he always be a quitter to me.

Whoever is advising him though should be fired. A totally classless/gutless move to kick the city of Cleveland in the dick on national TV. He could do it another way but he has to name it "The Decision" just like "The Drive", "The Fumble", "The Shot?" That's why I say that when he returns he should probably fear for his safety because there are a ton of nutjobs in Cleveland that will take this stuff WAY too seriously.

So now the NBA inflated the cap to suit Miami and poor Danny Ferry was in the dark.

Just put yourself in his situation.

You're going to go on TV in front of the whole world and try to explain the decision and mostly likely crush the Cleveland, Akron and Ohio folks.

"I had some great years here but it's time to move on."

And then that's it. No championship accomplished. Off to Miami.

I just think if you're any kind of person with pride, heart, competitiveness and so forth you would get to that point after weighing the options and say I've got to stay.

I know some people will say it's just like any of us looking for a job but you can't draw that parallel. It's not the same when you're somebody of this stature and you've made a major impact on this home area.

How else should he let the people of Cleveland know? Just hop on a plane and head to Miami and sign his contract? People would hate him even more. He's not ripping anyone's heart out by announcing it on TV, he's ripping hearts out by leaving Cleveland.

And yes, he is of a stature that probably no one else in the world can relate to. He's a global icon. People talk about every single move he makes. I personally don't see any other way for him to announce it. The media has made this whole process bigger than what it is.

Let me tell you that as a Cleveland fan it feels like a kick in the gut. It feels like hes quiting and the fact that hes doing it on natl tv is an embarrassment. I dont expect you to understand it because you're not a Cleveland fan.

Why would you "hate" Chris Bosh over Lebron James?? haha So what, Bosh didn't want to play in Cleveland

The Cavaliers franchise is going to have to have a plan post-Lebron. The fans are going to be distraught, ticketholders won't be buying, and so you have to get a player in there quickly. Otherwise this is a 25 win team. Chris Grant will have to earn his money

I can assure you that David Stern did not inflate the cap for Miami's benefit. I'm sure he is somewhere cussing right now. You have a small market who could lose out on one of the best players in the game. His system of the home team being allowed to offer more money did not work.

Fortunately for me, I don't take sports that serious.

I'm not going to be crying myself to sleep and have a hatred towards Lebron. So yea, maybe you shouldn't take it as serious either.

    You're missing my point, though.

In his preparation for this announcement, he probably went through how he would execute it. Sort of simulating how he would deliver the news and then how he would feel after it. As a lot of normal folks would say being at peace with the decision.

If you're just going to feel terrible afterwards, like you had unfinished business, then maybe that's not the right move.

Are you serious? You're a joke. I will hate Lebron James but I certianly wont be crying myself to sleep. It stings that one of your own left and if you cant understand that than I cant help you. I'm not allowed to be upset by this? I apologize if we all dont share your thoughts on sports. Get over yourself. You're being a prick man.

I've been on here and reading facebook the last few days, and it's mind boggling to me the hatred towards Lebron. For everything he did for Cleveland, he is all of a sudden public enemy #1, and I personally don't get it.

No question he did a lot but will be remembered most for quitting on the city and on his team in the Boston series. If he plays up to his normal capabilities in game 5 and we are probably not looking at these numerous threads on OhioChatter because he probably stays.

Thats fine. You will never get it. Dont sit here and make comments when you dont understand the situation. You dont know what its like to be a Cavs fan. Until you're in our shoes you will never understant. Maybe you should just leave this conversation alone.

I get that, I really do. But I don't think it's fair. The guy can't do everything. The guy had to score like 26 points straight in a playoff game a couple years ago. That should NEVER happen.

This is a message board and I have an interest in the free agency, so no, I won't leave it alone. I played basketball growing up and never really had a "team" for whatever reason. I'm a much bigger football fan (Browns and Buckeyes) than any other sport. I'm a Reds fan, but don't really follow them. I'm a Cav's fan, but am more interested in watching the great players of the league.

If that makes me a bad fan, then so be it. But I can still have an opinion.

But if he's this "superstar", he will rise to the occasion. Jordan didn't say "oh shit, my supporting cast sucks so I better not score 63 against the Celtics and take the team on my back" (even though Chicago lost that game).

He was a much better "Lebron" when he was hungry. The Lebron they needed last year was the Lebron of the 2006 playoffs when he felt like he needed to do it himself. The Lebron of the last two years and his teammates thought they had a glide path to the Finals because they had done it before. He lost that "eye of the tiger" in the Boston series.

Had he put up 50 points in game 5 against Boston and they had lost, him leaving would still hurt but the sting would likely be less. As it is, he looks like he gave up on his team and the city from game 5 forward.

They were in the NBA Finals once.

They were tied 2-2 at home against Boston in that pivotal playoff game last year.

To say that the situation in Cleveland is hopeless is not accurate.

They developed one of the best fan bases in the league. Fun atmosphere. The team has continued to get better year after year. LeBron probably had his best season just last year so he still can be better in the playoffs than he was this past year. Maybe the injury played a role.

If he's looking at it like I did all that I could but we're not going to do it, that's a crock. It's just difficult. A challenge. You don't have to run from challenges. That's a basic principle. There have been a lot of teams that have made the playoffs and fallen short but they came back and went all the way.

Either did Wade and his awful teams in Miami after his championship. Only difference, Wade's owner was able to bring in another star, Gilbert wasn't able to do that.

Not blaming anyone here..might just be a harsh realization that a superstar free agent will never choose cleveland over other cities like Miami, Chicago, etc.
