If Lebron were to leave....

Would Chris Bosh become the most hated man in Cleveland?

By all accounts, a sign and trade was apparently in place to bring him here (at the same time delivering Lebron as well), but he wanted no part of coming to Cleveland.

While I think he still stays, if Lebron were to leave think about how drastically the fortunes of the entire franchise were changed by Bosh.

Instead of Bosh/James (and free agents that would have come) to chase a title here with them, Bosh's decision may have spooked Lebron into thinking that realistically no free agents are ever coming to Cleveland, thus the necessity to leave while he can.

Without them Cleveland then goes from being the team to beat to a toxic waste land which will be avoided at all costs by everyone as the fans lash out, the franchise value tanks, and the team heads back to lottery land.

Its all still a hypothetical, but it is amazing to think about just how drastically different the future of the Cavs could potentially solely because Chris Bosh abhorred the idea of coming to Cleveland so much he was willing to leave $30 million on the table.

God forbid he ends up in Miami it will be that much worse, because not only will Bosh have kicked sand in the Cavs face (who Lebron was clearly prepared to come back to) by rejecting them, he will have made matters worse by then stealing Lebron away to Miami having convinced him he couldn't win in Cleveland.

Pat Riley is the man you should hate. If LBJ comes, it's because Pat was 2 move ahead of the best GM's in the game. He's raped people in deals to set himself up, and he was doing it before people even thought about shredding cap for these guys. So if LBJ comes, hate Pat, he was the guy at the poker table with a royal flush.

LBJ is a grown man at this point in his life.... no one to blame for him leaving than LeBron himself.

I think his wanting to be the center of attention and hold the basketball world hostage has backfired and now he might have to alter his plans due to other people instead of them making their plans around him.

Sorry but if lbj goes to Miami it's because he wants to play with Wade and bosh. Not because pat Riley is there and a genius.
Also how long till suddenly pat Riley wants to coach again?

If this goes down, I highly doubt I'll even watch the NBA next year. I've had NBA league pass the past 3 seasons, but that'll end if this happens.

It doesn't matter who he goes to, if he leaves he the Q will sell out for the games he returns so people can boo him. It will just be louder boos if it is Miami.

Lol so waht exactly did Pat Riley do to pursuade Lebron to come to Miami? Like someone already said, it's because of Bosh and Wade, not Pat Riley lol

WKNR in Cleveland is going live for 24 straight hours of coverage after "The Decision."

Munch this morning was playing Will Smith's "Welcome to Miami" and I am expecting Rizzo to have a heart attack when he gets on at 9. The local sports guys are dreading the thought of LBJ leaving because they have seen how miserable it becomes when you see a team go from perennial winners to a toxic wasteland as the Indians followed a similar life cycle as far as their resurgence that the Cavs did. If Lebron goes it is now just total misery across the board.

I would suggest making reservations for your spot on the 480 bridge early just as a precautonary measure. You can always cancel them in the event of good news, but you certainly don't want to be left without a spot as demand is sure to be high were an undesired outcome achieved.

Along that line I fully expect KNR to turn into a virtual suicide prevention hotline if this goes poorly. Clevelanders will be distraught at levels the likes of which we haven't seen in a long long time. Things looked real good as recently as 24 hours ago, and now the patient is suddenly on life-support potentially out of nowhere. Not going to be a fun one at all if he doesn't come back.

Riley is not that smart. He stumbled ass backwards into this, you are giving him way to much credit.

...just another name on the back of a jersey.

Keep tying your emotions to a player instead of watching the game for what it is and you will always disappointed.

It's pro sports. It's entertainment. Nothing more.

With the nutjobs in Cleveland, he might be well served to avoid the Q. After seeing Bottlegate if he kicks this city in the nuts with the TOTALLY CLASSLESS gesture of announcing he's leaving on national TV, it wouldn't suprise me if some kook tried to go John Lennon on his ass when he returns.

BTW...this move makes absolutely NO sense if he goes to Miami. So he's going to team up with Bosh, Wade, Chalmers and three 2nd round picks. That leaves 5 slots to fill with no money. Even though I don't want to see him go, Chicago makes more sense than Miami.

Pat is a smart man but this has nothing to do with him. Lebron James is a grown man and he can make his own decisions.

As far as the question goes. Its Lebron. There are alot of casual NBA fans that wont have a clue about the Bosh stuff.

If Lebron leaves the Cavs could go after David Lee, I don't think he has signed yet.
All is not lost if Lebron leaves.
Everyone thought that when Peyton Manning left Tennesee so did any Championship hopes but T-Martin did what Peyton could not.
  • KR1245
This one is gonna sting like hell. It isnt even official and I can already start to feel it. Oh well, I was a Cavs fan before Lebron and I'll be a Cavs fan after him.
  • KR1245
Windy was just on Mike and Mike. Its not looking good. Seems to think he will announce in 10 minutes and spend rest of time apologizing to the state or Ohio and city of Cleveland/Akron. He can say all he wants........actions speak louder than words.
  • Little Danny
If Lebron leaves all of the sporting goods stores in Ohio will be looking to send their Lebron/Cavs merchandise to third world countries, like they do for the shirts made up to announce the Super Bowl loser as the champions.
  • j_crazy
the cavs will suck horrible stinky rotten ass if LBJ leaves. and the 2 people to blame are no longer part of the franchise, james for pulling strings to get his boys in and ferry for pulling the trigger on those deals.
  • thedynasty1998
    1. Blame should be on Ferry
    2. Pat Riley was instrumental in this whole thing
    3. Lebron proved that he wants to win Championships

I think they could still be a playoff team if LeBron leaves but one of the last seeds.

I disagree with you, but even if they do, they are a 7-8 seed and play either Orlando, Chicago, Boston or Miami in the 1st round. Might as well not make it.
  • Non
    Yeah, true.

That's basically what I meant. They could sneak in as a 7-8 but then play a Miami, Boston, Chicago or Orlando and get beat in the first round.

Their title hopes will be gone, clearly.

The Browns might be the most promising team in Cleveland by 9:30 tonight.
