HUH? No he wasnt. Initially yes....but that play was over and Cesc then had the ball. When Fabregas played the ball he was WAY onside for the goal. -

it's a little organization called FIFA, you might have heard of them...
look it up. -

Well if they denied obvious goal scoring chances than they were right. If not, you got screwed lol. -
MulvaForlan was definitely the best player in my eyes. He carried Uruguay to the semis.
-
JugheadAnd no, David Villa fucking flopped. 55" High Definition TV plus replay does not lie.
Mom and Dad, who do NOT follow soccer, agreed. -

this. clearly. -
AutomatikI'm glad Forlan won it. He was one of my favorite player's to watch this entire tourney. Anyone think he will bounce from Ath Madrid and get PAID? He deserves it. Come to England!
-
JugheadOnce again, I do not dispute the goal or who won the game. Just the fact that 13 cards were given in a game that only 5, at best, were necessary.
-
rock_knutneYou all can debate the yellow cards and officiating until you're blue in the face but IMO, the real story is Robben missing TWO clear break away chances that he normally finishes with his eyes closed.

Now thats just not true.
Robben
Van Persie
Puyol
Van Bommel
De Jong
Iniesta
Xavi
Mathijsen
Heitinga (at least 1)
All deserved. -

Yeah, I agree, that was bad. I think he WANTED to go around Iker on the first, but when it was shut off he had to shoot and Casillas got a boot to it. -
ts1227Golden Ball: Forlan
Silver Ball: Villa
Bronze Ball: Sneijder -

When did this flop occur?? I want to go and rewatch it. -

Villa dont deserve that shit over Xavi or Iniesta, but who cares. Sneijder deserved third imo, so good call there. -

When the intial ball was played that hit a Dutch player, Iniesta was CLEARLY offside by a yard.........watch the replay. The play should have been blown dead before Fabregas had a chance to play it to Iniesta and IMO that's what the Dutch players were pissed about after the goal. It's was offside and there's no disputing that, personally I think Holland had a legitimate beef. -
JugheadRobben's was for arguing the fact that no foul was called, so I'd take him off this list, Laley.

Regardless, its a warranted yellow. You cant do that and get away with it. Hes lucky he didnt get the card right away. He had an argument, but its still a warranted yellow. -

He laid on the ground for at least 20 seconds, which is the only reason it was awarded a yellow. It was early in the second overtime, looked like a nut shot at first, but the other angle showed no such contact. -

But thats not the rule anymore. We have seen time and time again this tournament. In this game even. They dont blow for the offside until the player is directly involved in the play. Earlier Van Persie was coming from offside and the flag didnt go up even though he was fighting for position to head the ball until he actually did touch it. -

Spain's entire team was diving the whole game and much more so than Holland did today. For all the shit I had to endure about Italy and how they dive and whine, Spain looked pretty polished in that regard too. -

Oh yeah, I remember that. He certainly embellished the fuck outta that play lol. He did get fouled though. -

See, what you call diving I call embellishing. Iniesta had the only true dive...where the foul wasnt committed. All the others were fouls and players trying to get cards. I did say before the tourney that Iniesta and Busquets were big divers. I actually didnt think the diving was that bad today. I though Robben and Iniesta would be diving like they were in the Olympics, but they didnt. Embellish to the point of annoyance yes, but I dont get as mad about that because in the end the call is correct. Webb needed to not give yellows because the players were embellishing though. -
JugheadOk, lets agree to disagree then. I call embellishing a flop. Is a flop something greater than that?
-
rock_knutne
No, that's when a player takes a shot. The ball was crossed/chipped in to Iniesta's direction and he was clearly offside, as soon as it left his foot (can't remembver who played it in to the area) the whistle should have been blown. BTW, Van Persie was called offside on that play before he touched it.Laley23;420583 wrote:But thats not the rule anymore. We have seen time and time again this tournament. In this game even. Well, for me a flop is when you arent fouled and act like you were. I dont mind the rolling around as much because in the end the call is correct. But when you flop and dive without being touched/fouled thats when I get pissed. I didnt see that today, outside of Iniesta in extra time.
