Game 1: Cincinnati Reds at New York Mets

  • mhs95_06
Big win by the Reds to take the first game of this important series on this important road trip. Now 4 over on the road and 12 over .500 overall for the first time this season, and a 2 game lead over the Cards. Smith with a good job after the first couple of hitters. I don't think he was quite ready when he came into the game in the 5th and left a couple of sinkers up in the zone.

no, I think Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds and others always stood and admired their work (Sammy hopped everytime thne ball left the infield) and many times they stood on 1st base because of it.....I'm not talking that........you have to know what I mean.......THE ultimate feeling WOW shot.....the HR that goes out anywhere....anytime

what doubt did you have when he hit that ball?

Another great game. Props to Wood for stepping up, he probably shit himself when he found out this afternoon he had to pitch. Too bad he couldn't get the W. Huge hit by Stubbs, he's a different hitter with 2 outs.

Marty called Charlie an idiot tonight after Votto hit his second bomb, I was rolling.

I always have doubt watching on TV, much more than on some you see in person. But I will admit the look in Joey's eyes when he hit it gave me more confidence than if I hadn't seen it in his eyes. But seeing that one in person, I wouldn't have seen his eyes, but I would have had more confidence it was going out if I was there in person hearing the contact and seeing the ball fly.

8-6 game tonight, but the Reds were not outscored in any individual inning.

Wood's first time on short rest ever as a pro.

oh..no doubt...I'm almost automatic of the bat on whether it is going out or not.....especially since I normally sit in the OF or deep down the lines...so many clueless fans get up and ooooh and aww on balls that fall 50 feet short

I assume there is no penalty other than the travel expenses if the Reds fly Maloney in tomorrow morning, and then Harang is able to start, and they don't put Maloney on the 25 man roster.

Yes I agree on the ohs and awes by the fans. I usually sit in the upper deck behind home plate. I like to see how the defense is playing it, and their movement before the pitch, and what kind of a "jump" they get on the ball when it is hit, things you can't see too well on TV, and then the announcers are very poor at telling you what they are doing also.

Joey Votto definitely mailed in a F.U. performance tonight. I agree with Marty Brennamen. Manuel is an idiot. Omar Infante is an All-star. That says everything you need to say. smh

Correct, but I have a feeling it would be Arroyo on 3 days, he's historically been solid on 3 days rest and he had an easy last game. Owings could also go tomorrow or the next day. It doesn't sound like Harang's problem is serious and they are considering a trip to the DL. While you usually don't care what happens to your AAA team, they already pulled Wood up and today the Bats had a double header, so I doubt they want to pull Maloney up unless they absolutely have to.

Brons could give you 6 or more easily as he was pulled moderately early versus the Cubs for the 40 minute inning

I'd go Bronson tonight and if they win pitch Micah Owings tomorrow

....do whatever...keep hitting and the pitching won't matter much
