That's the 2nd AB -- the first one he K'd and made a fool of himself!

Nope. His first AB he got tossed.

It could have been worse, especially with that hanging changeup to Bay.

I kind of thought he had a legitimate beef with that AB.... I might have don the same thing

If that was a legitimate beef, then there are 20-30 legitimate beefs on balls and strikes in a typical single game. It was nothing that even remotely warranted him throwing his helmet.

I realize there are probably 20-30 close calls a game like that, but I thought that one was really bad and could have warranted that type of reaction.

I've seen much worse than just chucking a helmet

I've seen much worse too, but that doesn't make it appropriate. The pitch was very borderline and not a critical situation with a 0-0 score and two outs and no one on in the first inning, and it is not a walk if it is called a ball on the 2-2 count.

Votto didn't have a legit beef with that pitch in particular, but I definitely won't hold his blow up against him. Obviously he was still fuming over the All-Star snub, and rightfully so. In the end it didn't matter.

Can't wait until Hanigan is back.... Never been a fan of Corky Miller, Bases Loaded w/ 1 out and routine pop up and reds get nothing

And in the same situation last time a double play not even giving Wood a chance to get a big two out hit! But I still like Corky!

We might get Hanigan back and still keep Corky. The knee Hernandez hurt at either 2nd or 3rd on the triple was the same one he had surgery on last season.

More of that excellent Drew Stubbs defense.

Great contact by Cabrera on that hit and run!
  • darbypitcher22
that was a hell of a tough pitch to handle on the Hit and Run and he got the job done. Bases loaded gotta cash in against Pelfrey now
  • osu45804
Reds have them loaded w/ 0 outs for Rolen
  • osu45804
    Wow... TERRIBLE call
  • osu45804
SWEET!! They changed the call.... Manuel got ejected ... Rolen hit by pitch 2-1 Reds
  • mhs95_06
Umpiring crews are getting better this year at reconsidering original decisions and switching them to correct calls. That is at least the 2nd one this year in favor of the Reds without the benefit of using replay.
  • justincredible
That's what the crew should have done for the perfect game that wasn't. Take your time, discuss things, and get the call right.

    Bruce... SMH

They can't pitch around Stubbs this time. Bet he strikes out!
  • se-alum
    Very nice Stubbs!! 4-1 Reds!
  • osu45804
Stubbs!!! 2 out 2 RBI Single! 4-1 Reds
  • mhs95_06
Stubbs gets a break on the 0-1 pitch called a ball then punches the next on thru the SS/3B hole for two 2 out RBI!
  • se-alum
    Corky!!!! 2-run double 6-1 Reds!!
