  I remember that name...did he just recently retire from the league? I was thinking he played for the Lakers in the early 2000's.

  Seems like a pretty good move. He was an up and coming guy. I'm just glad they aren't hiring an Eddie Jordan/Jim O'Brien/Doug Collins type

  Not necessarily. Just giving a counter argument. The hiring of retreads is one of my biggest beefs with NBA front offices.

  the first time he got fired the team was 22-20, so that wasn't terrible
  
  he still brings a lot of good experience as an NBA head coach, twice reaching the finals, and then a good building job with New Orleans
  
  looking at the two I just think Scott has the better resume, Shaw brings nothing but uncertainty for a team trying to take the next step

  I think you could make a very strong case for that since Scott has been there, but never won it and has been fired twice. Shaw is still an unknown commodity. In this scenario, that may actually be an advantage.

  Non and gibby are criticizing the Cavs for pursuing an UNPROVEN head coach when the Bulls just hired the same EXACT type of person for the job?
  
  Something is NOT adding up with that.
  
  And let's remember, LeBron wants to play for a coach who played the game and won championships. Shaw and Scott both fit that criteria, HOWEVER, Shaw has also won titles while coaching from the bench on Phil Jacksons staff.

  I think Shaw is an okay hire. I still prefer Scott, but Shaw might turn into a good one.

  The thing I like about Shaw is, he runs an actual offense. Something we haven't had here since LBJ came into town.
  
  He also has been learning from the greatest coach in the game. Not only that, but he's played in the NBA as well and as multiple rings as a player and assistant coach.
  
  I'd be happy with either one, honestly.

  Well, I said initially it's a tough call with this one.
  
  But Scott has put together some strong seasons as a head coach. Even in New Orleans that was a tough situation for awhile.
  
  Scott and Shaw definitely do not fit the same criteria with Scott's head coaching success. Everything else would be the same but that would be the difference.

  Brian Shaw still is not officially #Cavs coach, sources say, but becoming pretty obvious he's the guy once contract is worked out.
  
  Shaw has been sitting behind Phil for the last couple seasons. I understand that Scott has the experience but his last two coaching jobs ended ugly. Shaw is a good hire imo. Bring somebody in that can run an offense.
