just my opinion but I don't think this was good enough to make a big difference with US soccer

I know it's a step forward but they needed something much bigger out of this

Disappointing outcome. Oh well fun run, will enjoy the rest of the tournament!

I guess Im pulling for Spain as they are my second favorite national side or Argentina because they have my favorite player (Messi)

Think I am gonna pull for Uruguay here on out don't know why just am!

It was so fun to watch this team play. I just wish they would not have played from behind the whole tournament.

Has a World Cup pool winner ever played with a lead for as few minutes as Team USA? They led for about 2 minutes the entire tourney! Still, fun ride boys!

haha yeah, the only time they led was after the Algeria game goal.

I think you need to look at #'s.

Soccer is growing in America and the growth started long before the World Cup run by the USMNT.

With that said, I'm pulling for Brazil or Argentina. (picked Brazil to win it all)

I would really wish that if we were awarded the 2018/2022 WC, we would be in a position to at least make it into the final 4. That may be stretching it, though. I don't know.

Good run by a good team. Except for Ricardo Clark. He can fuck right off.

    Ok.....I'm sober enough to post.

Hats off to the US. I'm not gonna make excuses. We straight up got beat and I'm not mad at all...that winning goal was f'n nice. Like ESPN's poll....I consider this run a mild success. Its really good to the us competing and actually playing with some BALLS. I'm no expert, but I've been following the national team pretty hardcore since about '04 and this is the best I've felt about the team. I'm excited for whats to come!
  • I Wear Pants
Yeah, it's just upsetting that the mistakes they made were the same ones over and over. I'm okay with a world cup as long as we make it past the group stage. We're to the point now that anything less is disappointing.

I still will say Buddle should have seen more time. I'm not gonna hate on Findley because I honestly haven't seen him play in the MLS, but Buddle was in great form coming in. I thought for sure he would start after Findley got suspended.

Also, I think Bradley solidified himself as the coach for the next run.
  • I Wear Pants
Yeah, and Bradley the player probably got himself an offer from a better club team with his play in the middle.
  • Laley23
How much did we miss the natural goal scoring ability of Brian McBride. No doubt Jozy is more talented, but we desperately needed a guy like McBride who just always seemed to find the net when needed. He was a true #9, which I think Jozy will be, he just isnt there yet unfortunately.

Im hoping he joins an EPL team. If 3 of our midfielders can be playing significant minutes for an EPL team that would do wonders. I also think the Bundesliga is very good, so even if he upgrades within of even stays put he is on a good path to success.

The guys we really need to get on better clubs are our forwards. We had 2 from the MLS and 1 from the Mexican League. That is pretty atrocious for a team like the USA. Only 1 forward on our squad plays in a well respected league (Altidore with Hull and Villareal before that).

yeah he did. he was probably the best player on the team for the WC.

Laley23;402390 wrote:Yep, that is exactly what I said. I dont understand the reluctance to give him total control. The guy isnt an idiot, its not like he ran Germany into the ground. He has shown he can coach, he wants to coach the USA, give it to him!!!!

Although, he was pretty bad with Bayern in 08/09 haha. But shit, we need a guy who has been there and knows what the fuck soccer is about outside the USA.

Klinsman had some heated differences with Bayern management, IMO he didn't get a fair shake. And you're 100% right about his stint as the German national coach, a break here or there and they could have been playing in the final four years ago. That team wasn't exactly loaded with stars and he had them clicking.

    Akron would miss him.

No doubt. I was happily surprised he didn't make the jump to D.C. United this offseason. Allegedly the job was his if he wanted it.
  • I Wear Pants
He's a pretty nice dude all around too so I hope he's able to do whatever he wants even if that means leaving Akron. I remember my brother almost went to Akron to play soccer because of him but he probably wouldn't have gotten much play time so he went elsewhere.
