I wasn't even going to validate this stupid thread with a post, but I needed to express what a classy Pittsburgh fan and poster HitsRus is--well played,my friendHitsRus;395691 wrote:Some people have a hard time seperating a sports rivalry from reality. As a Buckeye and Browns fan, I really don't hate people from Michigan or Pittsburgh outside the context of the game. Are some of their fans assholes? Sure....but so are some of ours. Usually they are the ones like Capone who don't grasp sports rivalry concepts very well. Personally, as a Browns fan, I'm grateful to the Rooney's and their help in getting the NFL to put a franchise back in Cleveland after our former owner sold out. Art III and Dan Rooney, incidentally, were educated in the Cleveland area...going to school at Gilmour Academy. -

BigAppleBuckeyeI hate the Yankees, but I rarely post smack about them cause all that does is prove that I am the Yankees' little bitch, and they are always in my thoughts -- the definition of being owned. Capone, you are a 1-trick pony. For a guy from the "City of Champions," you certainly don't act like you've been there before, and I could give two shits about Cleveland. Just sounds like you got your ass whooped by some Cleveland fans back in high school, and this is your Grand Revenge ...

My brother was a classmate of Art III circa 1970 at Gilmour. And then he went to Pitt in the business program and I shared a class with him. One night they called role, and obviously announced my last name. Well, I look a lot like my older brother. After class, Art III came up to me and asked if I was related to his old high school acquaintance at Gilmour. The next thing you know, we're drinking at the the Pub on Forbes Avenue and the man would not let me use my wallet.HitsRus;395691 wrote: Art III and Dan Rooney, incidentally, were educated in the Cleveland area...going to school at Gilmour Academy.
That's the way the Rooneys are. -
HitsRusfootwedge...your brother was class of '70?....I roomed sophomore year with Art III at Gilmour. PM me with your bro's name.

Al CaponeSince my original question wasn't answered, I am assuming that Cleveland is indeed the worst sports city in the country.

Strapping Young LadWho cares about the Indians??? Seriously. Let's talk about REAL Ohio baseball and how the Reds have owned the shit out Pissburgh in all important post-season play. 4-1 I believe in postseason series' vs. the Piss-poor Pirates.
Where you at Capone.....Oh yeah, you're off celebrating a victory vs. the Indians amongst two decades of losing. -
KR1245Thats all this guy does. Hes a coward. After the Pens lost at home to the 8th seed he was nowhere to be found. Pirates go on a 12 game losing streak and he is nowhere to be found. He likes to forget that the Pirates are looking at 18 consecutive years with a losing record. People talk about the Clippers........imo the Pirates are the worst franchise in sports. This guy sucks.......plain and simple.
-
wes_mantoothI think the Pirates may be the worst franchise in sports as well. I wish that Cuban would have bought the team....they would have been competitive. Under the current regime, they just trade away anyone having a decent year so they don't have to pay them.
Also....Sadly, the Indians are becoming the Pirates of the American League. -

REAL Ohio baseball (your words, not mine) hasn't had a winning season since the beginning of the decade, I do believe...Strapping Young Lad;397598 wrote:Who cares about the Indians??? Seriously. Son....I MAY have started a thread or two in retaliation to the numb nut twins, but I don't start one daily. You just don't like the fact that I point out bandwagon jumpers when I see them, now why would that be? -
Al CaponeAgain, My question hasn't been answered. So I should assume that all Cleveland fans agree with me.
-
hoops23You are an idiot.
This was your question:
Where exactly did you make ANY statement what so ever that anybody would be agreeing with? You ASKED what it was like to be a Cleveland fan. You never said WHAT IT WAS like to be a Cleveland fan.but I would like to know what's it like to be a fan of Cleveland( mistake by the lake ) sports teams.
Be honest, how bad is it?
Are you really this stupid? Nobody can agree or disagree with you if you're not implying a statement within your question.
Your parents failed you, miserably. -

Yes, historically, Ohio has been blessed to have two very good baseball organizations.
However, Cincy has been very underwhelming over the last decade. Cleveland on the other hand has been contenders for at least a few years during that same stretch.
And today? The Reds will free fall like they have every season in recent memory.
We have a common enemy here, so get that bullshit out of here. -

I'm sure if you were alive during the terrible Steeler years you'd have been tooting their horn then too.
(LOL)
Despite the Browns sucking so bad the last 11 years, Pittsburgh only has a two game lead in the overall series and the Browns won the last game.. The Steelers are very fortunate to have had the Rooneys, point blank. -
jordo212000hoops23;398016 wrote:And today? The Reds will free fall like they have every season in recent memory.
Maybe they will this year, it remains to be seen. But from all appearances they look like they are going to be contending for the next couple of years.
Not so sure about Cleveland. Lou Marson, Jason Donald, Austin Kearns, and Jhonny Peralta (aka the guy Cleveland preffered over Phillips) do not exude much confidence. Choo and Santana look like the only guys who have any kind of future on that team. Seriously what kind of franchise gets their pants taken down in 2 trades where they traded Cy Young award winners and then promotes the guy who did it? -
hoops23I guess the same franchise who had more winning seasons in 2007 alone then Cincy did this decade.
As for you're players comments, you may want to check Austin Kearns #'s this year..
Jason Donald is a rookie, he's not been that bad either.
Lou Marson was brought up to be our back-up to Carlos, obviously Lou is nothing special.
And Jhonny will be gone.
