  ok, but tell me who else has K'd the Pirates, Indians (ok, he didnt K the Tribe all that much in comparison), and Sox as much as he has this year? I dont care who you are going against his numbers are video gameesque.

  No doubt the kid is off to a great start, but let's see what he does the second time around the league.

  strike outs are great, but he is facing the #29, #24, #25, and #23 ranked teams in batting average. however, the white sox do have the least amount of strike outs in the league.

  Why are we so reticent to just say that the kid is obviously an outstanding pitcher. The Major Leagues are the Major Leagues. His stats are amazing.
  It's a shame that he probably won't stay in Washington but then the Washington's of this world are never going to be able to keep a pitcher like this. How do you suppose Strasburg would do pitching for the Yankees, or the Braves, or the Twins? For that matter, practically any team in baseball? Enjoy him while you can, Senators, because he will be in New York or LA or some other center of athletic excellence do to the availability of that which creates dynasties in sports. Namely, a lot more money than they have in Washington.

  yeah, just say MONEY. Washington may be able to keep him longer by offering him security, as the Tribe did Sabathia early in his career. Strasburg will have to labor in Washington for a mere pitance what he's worth for several more years until he is eligible for free agency. The Nats should be able to extend him for a few extra years by offering him a multi $ million contract early. As it stands, the kid is one hard slider away from an elbow problem that could doom his career and he gets relatively nothing.
  As for reticence to annoint him the messiah of moundsmen, he hasn't done anything yet, nor has he proved his durabilty. If you want to get excited about his potential go ahead.

  he has pitched 3 games in the major leagues. most of what we know about him is from college and the minor leagues. get more than a couple starts and prove yourself in the majors and i will believe the hype. this day and age we build people up so much before they even prove themselves at the top level. i dont doubt he is good, but we tend to crown people the GOAT before they even step on the field.

  No doubt the hype has been extreme, Lebron like, but I tell ya he is living up to it right now. When he does have a bad start which Im sure is coming all the haters are going to come out gunning. I am enjoying every time he goes out to take the mound, he has some nasty stuff.

  I've watched baseball for 25 years....off the top of my head I can't think of a starting pitcher that was more dominant straight out of the minors......Doc Gooden, Francisco Liriano....Jeff Pico? lol

  Do I get extra credit for knowing how awesome Jeff freaking Pico was versus the Reds back in 1988...I think?....or what. I believe the no name who pitched for maybe 3 or 4 years threw a complete game shutout giving up 4 hits.

  Frankly, he reminds me of Mark Fydrych in both the success and the hype.. 'The Bird" burned hot and bright for a few years before flaming out.
