  Well I don't have any "evidence" as I'm not a detective and this is not an investigation. Its my opinion. Here is why I feel that way:
  
  Hernandez is old. He is playing well platooning at catcher, so is Ryan Hanigan. We can't be running Hernandez out there on the days he isn't catching to play 1B. Not that he'd be doing it a lot but if Votto goes all loco again you never know.
  
  If you disagree so be it. But Cairo has barely played this year, and maybe if given a chance for a few more at bats he might show us something. OK, so he's a lifetime .260 hitter, so is Brandon Phillips, so is Ramon Hernandez. If he were a career .300 hitter, he wouldn't be a bench player. You don't need a bench player to hit for average, you need him to get ONE hit every once in awhile because he's probably coming up with some guys on base. He is a fresh body that is going to be used this year to spell Rolen and Votto, and to pinch hit. I think he's more than capable of doing those things if given the chance. We like to jump all over people if they strike out or don't produce off the bench but its hard.....sitting for 5-6 days sometimes and then being called up to get a hit when you haven't been in a game for over a week? Jesus the guy only have 37 ABs this year. And he's batting .316 in May. We're in first place......relax.

  Keep it up, Reds! Baseball in Cincinnati is exciting again and maybe we can hang in there the whole way. The Division appears to be very weak and Cincinnati has the players to compete. Red's pitching is doing a great job right now and hopefully, barring injuries, this can continue right into the Fall. One can always hope! And then there is Dusty. I feel so good for him. He is finally not the target of every baseball "expert" who has been blaming him for everything that has gone wrong with the Reds. Of course, those very same experts have not given Dusty any credit for the recent revival of Reds fortunes, but then the folks who were blaming Dusty will need a quick fallback person to blame in case the Reds can't continue to play the excellent baseball they are currently exhibiting.

  The Cardinals are so bad right now. Their production from Schumaker has been awful. Felipe Lopez has carried them lately, that won't continue. Holliday has been awful and Pujols, well, he hasn't been himself. Colby Rasmus might be in the worst slump of them all.
  
  Penny injured. Lohse injured. Carpenter has been hittable recently, and previous to Tuesday, Wainwright as well. Their pen is STILL shaky, and as a whole, the Reds have a better overall staff.
  
  With that said, the Cars won't let it continue. They have too much pride. They WILL make a move, whatever it costs. The Reds have to keep the pedal down and counter. If so, they will stay in it.

  Pujols went 0-4 last night but at least he walked twice (one was intentional).

  Rasmus, Holliday, and Pujols are all killing my fantasy team. I'm okay with it if it means the Reds are in 1st place

  Also, in-terms of glaring needs for the future, the Reds are in better shape than the rest of the division. They have a very good system with many trade pieces, far more than St. Louis or Chicago, so there is no excuse for the Cardinals to be able to make a big move that the Reds can't counteract. The only thing that may get in the way is money, and honestly, I hope Bob and Walt don't let that happen, especially if it's St. Louis, given their ties to that organization.

  I don't think St Louis will be throwing around alot of money this summer. Pujols needs a new deal, they just gave Holliday a huge deal, and a few other guys make a lot of money. They are running into the same issues the Reds had with Griffey when they had too much money tied up into a few guys

  I am hoping Jocketty "Taveras"es Massett. (i.e. put Massett somewhere where Baker has no access to him). It's clear that Baker isn't going to pick his spots wisely with Massett and at this point he has been consistently BAD all season. Time for him to check out Louisville for a while

  I wouldnt throw out Masssett yet. He has great stuff....was lights out last year.....I think he can find his way. Maybe move down if he has options, or to a lesser role until he gets the ship right.

  You're not going to hear an argument from me. Frankly, I don't care if he has options or not. If he doesn't just designate him for assignment. This isn't 5 years ago's Reds pitching depth. They actually have help down on the farm... and plenty of it.

  He has been terrible. I d like to see if he could go down to AAA or something....he was great last year...still throws hard...I think he can be very good again. He had under a 2.5 era last year I believe and the talk was how he could take over for Cordero.

  I think Chapman would flourish there right now. Let him start out facing MLB hitters this way and once he is ready, throw him into the rotation. He has the stuff and he's only going to get better.

  That would be ideal, but what if he can't go to AAA? It will be hard to hide him in the big leagues and with the Reds competing right now, they really can't afford another emergency-use only pitcher down in the bullpen.

  Id like to keep Chapman at AAA and bring him up tos tart when someone is hurt.......or ineffective.
  
  Lincoln should be the first one shipped out. His ship has sailed. Masset still has value and I think can work through this...i really do.

  I think as of now with all the success the rotation is having, the Reds could use Chapman the same way the Rays used David Price when he came up. This way they can manage his innings a little more effectively and they could have a LEFTY pitcher with closer-esque stuff coming out of the pen late in the game

  I was going to use Price as an example in an earlier post but was unsure if he was starting or closing because I don't follow the Rays closely. I thought he was starting but didn't want to look like an ass hat.
  
  I think that would be the perfect situation for Chapman.

  Yeah but I couldn't remember if he was closing now or starting. That's why I didn't want to use him as a comparison until I looked it up.
