The Super Bowl is coming to Jersey!

  • Pick6
Wow who gives a shit if it will be cold. Both teams are playing on the same field. You can talk all you want about people not wanting to come to watch a cold superbowl.. I guarantee that stadium will be full. What is the difference playing a conference championship 2 weeks earlier in New England and this? Should New England have to build a dome to make it "even". LOL. This is football, it is supposed to be a tough sport. I dont think there is really any difference in late november/early december (when ohios state championship games are) and January/February, Pennsylvanias playoffs even get done a week after.

The game will still be sold out.
The game will still be the most watched show of the year.
The game may become the most watched show in history depending on the matchup.

    None of that will change.

What will change tho is the possible product on the field. The weather def can play into the hands and against certain teams and offenses. Yes...that is fooball, the nature of the game.

I love cold weather football. Love goin to PItt in the cold of the winter and snow blowing. Love it.

but i also think that the SB should be held in a warm weather city or dome so on game day....the weather is benign and really doesnt favor any team. I like a level playing field in the championship game. One of the reasons why I wouldnt want the Ohio High School football champs in columbus is if theyd play on the Crew field.....if the weather is bad then ya dont get a gauge on whom the best tea really is..

The warm weather or dome conditions do favor certain teams. I think it is a little misleading to say that it doesn't favor a certain team. If a team such as the Saints were to play a physical run-based team, don't you think it would be a big advantage to the Saints style to play in a dome or in warm weather?

Didnt it snow in new england in like october last year? plus, a good team will overcome the elements. and since both teams are playing on the same field, it will be equal. and you would be crazy to think a team that plays in a dome half the year wouldnt have an advantage over a team that played outside for probably 3/4 of the season if the superbowl was played in a dome.

I tell ya what, if a shithole like NY/NJ can get the Super Bowl, it would be blasphemy for an iconic venue like Lambeau Field to be omitted in the future.

The Packers have already been talking about it but the Nfl shot it down already. They said they would only bend the rules for NewYork.

Plus no other city deserves it more than Pittsburgh anyway.

What I am getting at is when the conditions are benign we should get a better idea of whom the better team is.

A good, clean, dry track shouldnt favor, or should I say hinder, a certain team at all.

When the weather is good and no rain or snow......that is the most even playing field. Ya dont hear any type of talk of how "oh this dry weather was a big factor in this game"...ya only see that in adverse conditions where it condenses what a team can do.

Are you kidding me? I know you're a huge pittsburgh homer, but the people at Heinz field can't even take care of their field, and the city of pittsburgh doesn't exactly scream "nice"

Unless of course you want AIDS, then Pittsburgh is like Honolulu.

    AIDS?

    Is that you NCF????

Actually....the issue with the field in pittsburgh is havin the Steelers, Panthers and then also some HS games on it.
  • SportsAndLady
capone has AIDS, so I always make fun of that...it's in no way meant to any other steelers fans.

And I understnad the field situation..that's pretty shittty they have to have all those extra game there..It really messes up a nice venue.

Pretty ignorant post BR, I would think a poster like you would come with something better than this. Is someone from Cleveland really calling ANYWHERE a shithole, let alone New York/New Jersey?

Real football is played in the elements. Some teams are built better for certain elements. Finesse teams do better in domes and cold weather. Physical teams do better in cold, wind, rain, snow, ect. For example, if the Saints played the Ravens, don't you think the Saints would gain an advantage by playing in a dome, and the Ravens would gain an advantage with wind, snow, etc. ? Regardless of where it is played, the team that plays better for 60 minutes on that Sunday will win the game.

ehhh, New York always has huge events, and there is always traffic ... the Super Bowl won't be THAT much different than any other NYC weekend.

I actually think Capone has a point about Pittsburgh. City of Champions as far as football is concerned, they probably do deserve the right to host a SB.

But to all of you complaining about the weather and how it will effect the teams--what about the SB in Miami a few years ago when it rained like crazy. Shouldn't that have favored the Bears over the Colts since the Colts were a pass oriented offense and the Bears were run first. Heard someone say that on TV earlier, thought that was a good point. These guys are pros, they've all played in shitty weather before. They can handle it. Not to mention the fact that it has only snowed in NY/NJ in early February 8% of the time in the last 40 years--that was another graphic that ESPN put up.

I am not too sure other cold-weather cities will get their chance, unless it MAYBE was Chicago or DC or someplace desirable to tourists. Can't see too many fans getting jacked up about February trips to Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Cleveland, etc ...

I really don't think they will have trouble getting people there no matter where they have it. You could even have it at some of the bigger college stadiums, and the stadium would still be full.

Thought you were stealing NCF line of saying people he didnt like had AIDS......

As a way to kinda push through the city vote they publicy stated that the NS games would still be played there and also e used for PItt games.

Friend of mine's mom said that was her reason to vote for it.....

Doesn't matter now--they've set a precedent and now cold weather cities have just as much pull as warm cities. ESPECIALLY if it all goes well in NY.

Which is why someone should introduce this great new 21st century invention called "field turf" to the Rooney family.
