Manhattan BuckeyeNo surprise...worst sports idea ever, except for the massive NCAA conference realignment.
I don't get it. Bad weather football sucks. Football isn't a winter sport. 90% of the games (100% of HS games) are played in the summer and the fall. Some of the worst games (Steelers-Jets in 2004 I'm looking at you) are played in bad weather. Hopefully it won't affect the game to the point that the players can't make a difference, -
Al CaponeDumb move. Lets hope for a major storm and the stadium is 75% empty.
-
BigAppleBuckeyeWhile I actually agree with most of you, I am stoked that the Super Bowl will be played near by own back yard, weather be damned!
-
Commander of AwesomeDumb. I want to see the teams at their best in the Superbowl.
-
Al BundyWeather is part of football. It is meant to be played in the elements.
-
Hb31187I like it.
Sick of seeing the same 5 cities host the superbowl. The fans will survive being out in the cold, they manage all season -
SQ_CraziesOMG, I'm so incredibly sick hearing pussy ass people bitch about this. I think it's going to be awesome. Football has always been played in the elements, suck it up. The game will probably end up being just as entertaining as the SB always is.
Although it will give a team an advantage--whoever has the most former SEC players on their roster will be screwed. -
SQ_CraziesMangini said it PERFECTLY.
It's the Super Bowl. Who gives a shit where it's being played as long as you're in it. -

This coming from a coach that'll never be in it.SQ_Crazies wrote: Mangini said it PERFECTLY.

thavoiceIm a guy who loves to attend football games when it gets cold and nasty outside. Love winter football in pittsburgh.
with that said........
I think the SB should be played in a place where good weather is likel or in a dome. Seriously...I wanna know who the best team is...and put them on equal footing on a football field and not handcuffed by the other factors. Im all for the road to the SB to be as tough as can be...but once you get to the super bowl....let the two teams play ona field and in conditions to where when the game is over ya have to say...well...the better team won and not because the weather dictated it. -
End of LineFinally, a Super Bowl with cold weather elements.

this comment would be better if Mangini didn't have 3 Super Bowl rings as a coach under Belichick in New England ... hell of an effort though!Al Capone wrote:

Manhattan BuckeyeIndeed football is played in the elements, but not in FEBRUARY. No HS team plays in February. No college team plays in February. There is a reason why the regular season goes from September to December, and not November to February. It isn't a winter sport. Snow games are rare, and usually they suck (per my earlier post).

Who the fuck has the direct line to Mother Nature and is so sure it's going to snow on that day? I mean shit, sometimes it snows in November. IT'S FOOTBALL, both teams play in the same elements. And I guarantee you if you asked, most players would rather play in a cold, snowy environment than a 55 degree rainy one. What if it rains and it's in the South? What if there is an earthquake? What if a meteor strikes?Manhattan Buckeye wrote: Indeed football is played in the elements, but not in FEBRUARY. No HS team plays in February. No college team plays in February. good point ... when the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2008 (even though I was in Brazil at the time) the weather was in the 70s I believe in NYCSQ_Crazies wrote:

The Super Bowl will be a disaster if the weather is this bad. That game was unwatchable. For fans at the game and at the bar after we left the game.
It is one thing if it happens in the playoffs when a cold weather team earns the right to play on their home field. It is another if we have, for example, a Saints-Chargers match-up and they look like a bunch of keystone kops on the field.
Terrible decision. -

The showed a graphic on ESPN the other day of the last 5 or 6 years on February 2nd in NYC--hardly any snow and relatively warm.BigAppleBuckeye wrote:
