Pirates @ Reds--Game 1

HOmer Bailey is on the 15 day DL, Del Rosario has been called up. He is 1-1 with a 1.46 ERA at AAA...he throws side arm.

So what does this mean? You guys think Owings will get the start friday and move Del Rosario to his place in the bullpen?

By the way, here's the lineup

    Orlando Cabrera 6
    Brandon Phillips 4
    Joey Votto 3
    Scott Rolen 5
    Jonny Gomes 7
    Jay Bruce 9
    Drew Stubbs 8
    Ryan Hanigan 2
    Aaron Harang 1

I think Owings should get the start Friday.

    Dear Drew Stubbs,

    You suck.

    Sincerely,

    Nate

Would be awesome to take all 4 games (obviously) from the Buccos and head into the Astros series winners of 6 of the last 7

I don't think Owings will get the start. I think we will see another roster move for the start on Friday. Del Rosario is just to help out the bullpen since they are a little over worked right now.

My money is on they will bring up Travis Wood or Matt Maloney. Del Rosario to the bullpen.

Doubt it will be owings...but if he doesnt throw tonite or tomorro then ya got ur answer. ANd also anyone know when WOod or maloney are scheduled next? Sometimes they take the ML guy who has the closest normal starting slot....
  • Little Danny
I heard on the radio that Wood is next scheduled for Friday and Maloney Saturday. WLW has been speculating these two are the likely candidates to come up.

“We haven’t decided which one,” Jocketty said.

It won’t be Aroldis Chapman because of his blister.

Jocketty also said he expects Johnny Cueto to be able to start Thursday.

Wood vs Strasburg would be quite a match-up to see.

Homer a little pissed about being put on the DL.

Hey Homer...here's some news...you don't make the calls in the big leagues.
  • Azubuike24
I saw that. Don't mind it at all. A more immature Homer Bailey may not have even cared, and may have even tried to pitch through the injury. I'm glad it's being taken care of but it's nice to see some fire from Bailey who many thought early in his career lacked a passion to really want to pitch. Maybe some success bred some fire from the kid. I like it.
  • wildcats20
Yeah, I'm not saying I disagree with it. I actually liked seeing him with that passion for pitching. He said something like "they didn't ask me" or similar to that. Most people would have taken that sarcastically, but I took it as he was 100% pissed about being put on the DL; which is a good thing.

Reds sit at #10 for the 2nd week in a row in the ALL important ESPN Power Rankings.

this guy behind the plate annoys the shit out of me

Hanigan takes called strike 3 with the tying run on 2nd and two out. The pitcher is up next! Trying to draw a walk is not very very good strategy. Where is Hernandez anyway? Dustry broke the recent every other day catching rotation. I just picked up Hernandez in fantasy for just today to try to make up a game at catcher where I'm behind and there aren't very many games tonight, and Dusty breaks the pattern!
  • Rotinaj
I thought I saw somewhere that leake was supposed to start tonight??
  • wildcats20
Leake just pitched on Thursday. He goes tomorrow night.

If Harang gives up another 2 run hr to Cedeno i'm gonna be so pissed
  • wildcats20
    Come on Hanigan!!
  • mhs95_06
Why don't they have Stubbs bunt in that situation with his speed, he could really put some pressure on!

He got a run in, and that's big. If he makes an out without getting the run in, then you have the pitcher batting who figures to make an out without getting a run in, and that would leave it to a two out hit to get a run in, not a good chance, so I'm happy giving up two outs for the tying run.

I posted that as he was walking to the plate lol
