Pirates @ Reds--Game 1

Come on Dusty, why have the extra reliever for four games if you're not going to get a struggling Harang out when he went over a 100 pitches? Get a bench player an AB, get a better SS defensively, and get your new lead-off hitter in the new catalyzing batting order some rest, and let the relievers start with the prospects for a "clean" inning!mhs95_06 wrote: Harang threw so few pitches in the 6th, Dusty was baited into leaving him in! Cabrera's bonehead baserunning shows more than his legs need a break. Get Janish in to play SS now for rest of the game! -
SportsAndLadyI siad Harang shouldn't have been in there in the 6th inning, let alone the damn 7th.
Now the Reds are bout to pay for it.
Christ Dusty. -
wildcats20The 6th I can see....but no way in hell the 7th.
-
wildcats20I honestly don't feel safe with this lead like I normally would. Need to tack on a few.
-
mhs95_06Dusty wouldn't have to worry about using Masset, Rhodes, and Cordero if he'd start the 7th with his 2nd tier relievers against the AAAA Pirates. Instead he leaves Harang in and three of the first four hitters reach, and are the three runs that make it a tight 2 run game, rather than a 5 run game!

Do you honestly feel safe with a 2 run lead and Cordero coming in to try to get 3 outs with the bases clean?wildcats20 wrote: I honestly don't feel safe with this lead like I normally would. Need to tack on a few. -
wildcats20Not right now, no.

I meant to say do you honestly "normally feel safe" with a two run lead and Cordero coming in to start the 9th?wildcats20 wrote: Not right now, no. -
wildcats20Usually yes, but not lately. The pen has been bad the last few games IMO.
-
mhs95_06Rhodes gets tagged for a solid single to start the 8th(by a lefty even), and bears down hard to get the next three hitters with no runs, and not even a base advanced.
-
mhs95_06How many MLB pitchers do you know that after their first career appearance have a stat of an infinite number of strike-outs per inning pitched.
-
mhs95_06Great play by Iwamura and the Pirates to turn Stubbs scorcher into a DP. Doesn't look like any more of a comfortable margin for the Pirates 9th. Stubbs is blossoming in the 7th spot in the order!
-
mhs95_06Cordero gets a big first pitch ground out.
-
mhs95_06Stubbs short-armed it due to impending contact with the wall.
-
wildcats20Still should have been caught, but I'd rather him pull up a little and not kill himself.
-
SportsAndLadyCall the damn strike out ump..I swear Coco gets absolutely no calls.

stroups
This guy blows....... I literally had to put my tv on mute because I couldn't take him anymoreSportsAndLady wrote: Call the damn strike out ump..I swear Coco gets absolutely no calls. -
mhs95_06Don't throw Jones any low and in sliders!
-
wildcats20Well CoCo got it done.

I think he may have dinged up his shoulder and Heisey may get CF for a few games.wildcats20 wrote: Still should have been caught, but I'd rather him pull up a little and not kill himself. -
wildcats20Yeah he looked a little gimp after it. Hopefully it's nothing serious, but Heisey is a good sub if it is long term.
-
SportsAndLadyGood win, still haven't figured out how to blow out teams though..

I heard the scorekeeper changed his mind and now has called this a hit and an RBI for Phillips.mhs95_06 wrote: No "home cookin" from the official scorekeeper on Phillips scorcher. That ruling stymies what would have been 4 consecutive two out RBI hits! -
wildcats20Yup. Only error according to ESPN's box score is Young's throwing error.
