With the number 1 pick in the nba draft the Washington Wizards select_____________

lhslep134Well, considering Favors is the best big man Cousins has gone up against so far in his life, including his college career, I think that would be a matchup that holds a lot more bearing than your opinion that, throughout this basketball season, has shown absolutely no credibility.
[insert witty attempt by SQ to mention how I have no "credibility"] -
SQ_CraziesYOU'RE BASING YOUR OPINION ON ONE HIGH SCHOOL GAME.
What part of "that doesn't mean shit" don't you understand?
Who the hell is trying to say Favors won't be good anyways? In fact, I think he will be real good--but Cousins is a can't miss IMO. He's 40 pounds heavier and just about as athletic. Favors has nothing over Cousins that stands out from a skill stand point, size is VERY important in the NBA and lanky, athletic guys are a dime a dozen. Cousins put up better stats on a better team and out shined the consensus #1 for most of the season. 20 double-doubles to 11 for Favors. Favors had season highs of 22 points and 18 boards (had 21 and 18 against Maryland). Cousins had season highs of 27 points and 18 boards, did both twice including his 27 and 18 game. Remember, on a BETTER team. Cousins had better stats as I've pointed out, and averaged 4 fewer MPG--ON A BETTER TEAM.
But none of that matters, because Favors put up a better line in one high school game. Ok. -
hoops23IMO, Cousins may be the best player in this draft.
I'm not high on Wall and ET, while a good player, won;t be a great player in the NBA. -
SQ_CraziesI've had this feeling that Cousins will be the best too. He was the best player for Kentucky all year. Wall had his moments, but Cousins was consistently dominant.
-
hoops23Exactly^
If Cousins can keep his cool and his head on straight, he's going to be a beast. -
sportswizuhrdSpurs are looking to trade up to #3 to get Favors(Nets will probably ask for Parker). Tells me they have Cousins a no-brainer at number 2 or Favors ahead of Cousins. Philly has the number 2 pick and could deal it away.
Another steal for the Spurs if they can get Favors to pair with Blair and Tiago Splitter(coming over this year or next) for their future frontcourt. -
thedynasty1998SQ, I couldn't agree more with you on your assessment of Cousins! You're dead on here!
-
Azubuike24I really hope Philly takes DeMarcus.

SQ_Crazies
LOL, well don't give me too much credit. It's hard to miss a 6'10, 280 pound athletic freak who puts up incredible numbers along side the consensus #1 player. Players like Cousins don't come around every year.thedynasty1998 wrote: SQ, I couldn't agree more with you on your assessment of Cousins! You're dead on here! -

I agree. I'm really surprised that some people feel that Turner is a lock for the #2 spot. I just don't think he has nearly the potential and instant contributions that Cousins does. If I were drafting #1, I have to consider Cousins.SQ_Crazies wrote:

SQ_CraziesDepending on need--it's Cousins or Wall, but I actually think just based on better future that Cousins would be a better pick. But I do think Wall will be good too.
Turner, eh, I'm not sure. First of all, if he has to play PG, his career is screwed before it ever starts. He isn't and never will be a good PG. I heard someone on TV say he reminded them of Brandon Roy--which I think is a fair best case scenario for Turner. But I really don't think he'll ever be that good either. I don't think he's anywhere near explosive enough for the NBA. You know how you look at some guys and they just have "it"--they have a game that translates to the NBA and then you have guys who are high picks and highly touted college players where you're just kind of like "meh"? I think he fits in that second category--like Adam Morrison/JJ Redick. -
thedynasty1998I don't know how I can disagree with you so often, yet feel exactly the same way on Turner/Cousins?
-
SQ_CraziesIf everyone always agreed on everything this site wouldn't exist and the world would be a boring place. lol
-
jpake1Cousins will be good. I'm not as high on him as some others. I think he can get some allstar games throughout his career. I like Wall better. I even think Henry might be the 2nd most productive. Just something about the guy, dunno what it is. One of those gut things more than my eyes.
-
SQ_CraziesXavier Henry reminds me of Gerald Henderson except that he's a better 3 point shooter. But I agree, he has some great potential too. Really a good draft.
-
jpake1His game reminds me a bit of Joe Johnson. He isn't nearly as athletic as Henderson was/is. That is a weakness of his. Needs to become better off the dribble. Can be a deadly spot up shooter though.
-
lhslep134SQ,
In JJ Redick's defense it's unfair for him to be grouped with Adam Morrison now, considering Redick now receives substantial playing time and is actually playing kinda well. Not great, but pretty decently. -
jpake1^True. JJ has shown improvement and is a very nice player off the bench. Even the actual bench doesn't think much of Stash.
-
thedynasty1998
I actually really like Redick's game. He plays hard and knows his limitations. I actually think he should be getting more minutes and once he's a free agent I think there is a good amount of interest in him. So yes, it's unfair to put him in the same category as Morrison.lhslep134 wrote: SQ,

SQ_CraziesNot really. I'm saying highly touted college superstars who don't translate to the NBA very well. Redick still fits that mold, though I agree with what you're saying. I'm not saying they have to suck, they just got a lot of hype but they'll never be as big time a player as they were in college. Redick certainly wont' be that.

lhslep134I kinda think the 76er's might try and move Iguadala to make room for Turner rather than being stuck with Iguadala AND Brand's contracts.
-
goldengonzo
I'd like that idea. Andre Iguodala's time has come in Philly. They are going no where with him. Take the gamble on Turner and get Andre's contract off your back.lhslep134 wrote: I kinda think the 76er's might try and move Iguadala to make room for Turner rather than being stuck with Iguadala AND Brand's contracts. -
SQ_CraziesIggy is one of the more overrated players in the league--although, I think most people that "rate" players are starting to see that, which, I suppose would mean he probably isn't overrated anymore lol.
-
lhslep134
I agree, very similar to Danny Granger, IMO. Great scorers, but not exactly the type of player to take your team to the next level, though I'd take Granger over Iggy right now.SQ_Crazies wrote: Iggy is one of the more overrated players in the league--although, I think most people that "rate" players are starting to see that, which, I suppose would mean he probably isn't overrated anymore lol. -
Laley23
In Grangers case though he has NO ONE. I mean, not even CLOSE to talent on that team. Rush and Hibbert might be the second best players and they blow.lhslep134 wrote:

I agree Granger probably isnt good enough to build around, but he is better than a true second option if he were paired with a superstar (if that makes sense). Also, Granger has only been the guy for 1 season before this past one (which he was hurt quite a bit). Im interested to see what he does this coming season. It is going to go a long way to determine what his future holds in the NBA, imo.
