lhslep134SQ, are you kidding me?
I said he has a high ceiling because of his skill set.
I said nothing impressed me, what he did at Kentucky, because his time there was filled with disappearances and times when his motor wasn't fully running.
I didn't make a blanket statement, I made an opinion and then backed it up.
You are such a joke. -
lhslep134Jpake, I think a lot more teams are sold on Favors than Cousins, so I see the top 3 picks being Wall, Turner, Favors unless Turner falls to 4 and then I see Wall, Favors, and Cousins going top 3.
Like someone previously mentioned on here, Favors was hurt not by the lack of skill at the PG position at GTech but by the lack of consistency. Favors had games with 20 touches and some with 5. Makes no sense, but he still tried hard whenever he was in. -
Azubuike24I have blinders? I have no reason to have blinders. He isn't at Kentucky anymore. I'm just saying, as someone who watched every game and followed the team from last summer until late March, he got a bad rep. coming in, before he could even prove himself otherwise, and what he did in college did NOT back that up. He was no more lazy than pretty much every other player in the draft. It seems that it comes up with him, as thedynasty said, because of his facial expressions and demeanor.
And this is NOT saying Cousins may not have an attitude problem or needs to mature, but that does NOT equal laziness. They are totally different things. So yes, if you question his attitude or maturity, I'd say that's fair, but to say he's a lazy player is just jumping with the trend that people mentioned before he played in college. In-terms of his college performance, I did not really see this as a weakness.
So yes lhslep134, I'm glad you labeled me as having blinders, but I really don't think it's the case in this situation. -
thedynasty1998Questions about Cousins, am I correct in saying that he came into UK very over weight and one of the reasons why he progressed as the season went on is because he was working himself into shape?
-
Azubuike24I would say "into shape" may have translated into working his body into being better conditioned and turning fat into muscle. Cousins was never ripped, but definitely got into better shape after arriving on campus. I wouldn't say he was overweight, as I'd bet his weight didn't change much from when he came in to when he left. However, I'd guess his body fat percentage lowered and he's definitely in better game shape.

Then why is everyone, including Chad Ford, questioning his motor? Your attitude and maturity play into a lack of effort, just look at Zach Randolph. It took an entire change of scenery and 7 years in the league to finally get it. But before that he was ultra talented but completely lacking motor, which is exactly the knock against Cousins.Azubuike24 wrote: I have blinders? I have no reason to have blinders. jpake1I think the ONLY reason why Favors is getting a headline over Cousins is because Chad Ford (I think it's him) has had him in his top three the ENTIRE year, which is the one the ESPN shows all the time. I'm a HUGE UNC fan, I've watched Favors... he'll be solid. Give me Cousins every day. That's just my opinion from what I've seen. Maybe I havn't watched much.

I imagine you didn't know this, but in HS their senior years Favors played against Cousins and completely dominated him. That's probably part of the reason why Ford likes Favors more. Cousins came in with a ton of hype for doing major damage against guys much smaller than him, but disappeared going against guys of similar size and skill, such as Favors.jpake1 wrote: I think the ONLY reason why Favors is getting a headline over Cousins is because Chad Ford (I think it's him) has had him in his top three the ENTIRE year, which is the one the ESPN shows all the time. That's why I think it will take a couple years for Cousins to really get things going. Like I said, his ceiling is high, probably higher than Favors, but I think Favors is the safer pick and will be more consistent in his NBA career, even if that doesn't necessarily mean better. -
jpake1I did know that since I follow recruiting very much. However, I don't put a lot of stock into one game matchups in HS. You need some certain things in the NBA to succeed. Great college players somtiems can't amount to a shitty dollar in the NBA. I just think Cousins has a brighter future than Favors. I'm not saying they won't both be successful. I will say this... I don't see either of them being as good as some of the current top players at their position. I don't see Favors being better than Bosh or Amare. I don't see Cousins being better than Howard. That's very hard to do. I might go as far as saying if he can't produce Bogut numbers like this year, he played up to and a bit beyond his potential.
-
thedynasty1998As I said before, it's unfair for me to judge Favors because I didn't watch him enough. But I highly doubt that their matchup in HS has anything to do with it. Players develope more in their first year of college than any other year and if Cousins improved more than Favors, maybe he has surpassed him?
Plus, I think he has better size. -

I don't see anyway that Aldrich is going to be drafted before Favors.Keebler wrote: 1st pick is John Wall, no doubt.
2nd DeMarcus Cousins
3rd Evan Turner
4th Cole Aldrich
5th Wesley Johnson -

5th pick is T'Wolves.. Look who thier Centers are.... (not Al Jefferson, he's a PF).Early Cuyler wrote:

Anyway, look at who their swingmen are. Corey Brewer? Ryan Gomes?
I'd say that Wesley Johnson would be a logical pick there. -
SQ_Crazies6'11, 280 and he moves like he's 230.
End of discussion. -
Nate
I meant 4th, sorry, I have selective reading when at work. Yes, their swingman are iffy but com'on, DARKO?!?!Early Cuyler wrote:

So did Kwame Brown.SQ_Crazies wrote: 6'11, 280 and he moves like he's 230.

Does that end the discussion? No.
Cousins has serious attitude problems.
You still haven't addressed my avatar bet, man up and take it, or your "top 3 pick" comment is rather meaningless if you don't have the balls to back it up. -
Nate
Kwame was a skinny 240 when he came into the league.lhslep134 wrote:

lhslep134He was 260 when he was 19 though, same age Cousins is.
And Cousins is listed at 245 on his high school page, same as Brown coming out of high school.

Also only has him listed as 6' 9". 245 at 6'9" compared to 240 at 6' 11".... Hmmmmmlhslep134 wrote: He was 260 when he was 19 though, same age Cousins is.

SQ_CraziesWTF does Kwame Brown have to do with Cousins? Absolutely nothing.
And what bet are you talking about? I didn't know I ever made a bet. -

That is because he is asking you to take up a bet. This is worse than my spelling error of crowd....SQ_Crazies wrote: WTF does Kwame Brown have to do with Cousins? Absolutely nothing.

ok not really. -

He was comparing Kwame Brown's size to Cousins size. Which isn't even close.SQ_Crazies wrote: WTF does Kwame Brown have to do with Cousins? Absolutely nothing.

lhslep134If you're so sure Cousins is going top 3 SQ then make the bet.
Because I'm willing to bet he doesn't.
And Keebler, he's listed at 6'9.5", and I'm willing to bet at the combine he's listed at something closer to that than closer to 6'11".
A lot of guys seem to lose some of their media guide heights when they go to the combine.
