This is just my thought and it may seem bizarre. Is it possible he's throwing the season away due to not wanting to win the title for Cleveland and then look like a jackoff when he bails this summer? Possibility? With all these crazy ideas, I would say this may not be far off.
No. Period, end of story.
He had a bad game, the effort wasn't there, I think he just got discouraged and never got himself into the game. No excuses for that, he hasn't made any either. Greatest thing about this whole thing is regardless of what some may want you to believe--the series isn't over and in 2 games he could make game 5 a whisper of the past. If he's gone or if he's not doesn't matter--he's not going to throw away a chance to win a title regardless. You're just reading too much into it.
And I honestly believe that LeBron hasn't even decided what he's going to do next year. Most of the signs point to Cleveland. But he's ALWAYS been a guy that takes things a step at a time--dating back to high school. Did you see "More than a Game"? When he won the title his senior year and he was basically asked, "what's next?", he responded by saying he wanted to stay in that moment. He's not thinking about game 5, as soon as it was over he was on to game 6--a chance to be better. That's what makes these guys professionals and it's something that a lot of fans can't understand. That game is over for them, it should be for you too because there is another one tonight.
This is a guy that had more hype than any player ever, he surpassed it. He can't play defense, fixed. He can't shoot a jumper, fixed. He puts up a ridiculous season and wins an MVP, then he comes out the next year and STILL gets better. LeBron deserves more from the Cleveland faithful than he's getting right now. You guys are setting yourself up for disappointment based on the past, and you're not giving him the respect he deserves and has EARNED. But if he has to earn it again in some of your minds then make sure you don't miss the game tonight. I'm very confident he'll shut all this jaw flapping up. I think here was more to his "they've got me" message than just confidence. He's going to impose his will and make his teammates follow rather than trying to make them take the initiative. He's tried that, now he knows, it's on him to make sure his team doesn't lose. He's always personally responded well when his back us up against the wall. And hopefully the rest of the team can follow that lead tonight and going forward.
It was just a bad game, period. Nothing that Boston did different, he just wasn't in it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't LeBron have the highest PPG average against the C's in the history of the NBA? He's played more than 30 games against them, and dominated in many of them--it wasn't that the C's just figured it out all of a sudden. LeBron's gonna light it up tonight, and I'm very confident in saying that and you all should be too. This is the guy that you've hung your hats on as a city, as a fanbase. Stick with him as long as you can, because he's not giving up.
