Reds @ Pirates.....Game 3

  • justincredible
Baily tosses the CGSO with 90 pitches, 73 for strikes. Pretty good day.

I wonder when the last time the Reds tossed back-to-back CGSO?
  • justincredible
Oh, that little stat just came up on the Reds twitter.

Last time they threw consecutive CGSO was 6/9 - 6/10/89. Rijo and Browning.

Better yet, whens the last time ANYONE threw back to back complete game shutouts WITHOUT WALKING A SINGLE BATTER.

    Pretty impressive shit.

Hopefully these last 5 games haven't been a fluke by the starters and they can keep this shit up.

success is contagious, everyone is playing well. we'll see how they do this weekend though with 3 guys that don't have the talent to just blow people away.

I like Hannigan a lot, but didn't Ramon Hernandez just catch a complete game one-hitter less than 24 hours ago???

yes, and he went 2-5 with and rbi and a runner thrown out. dusty seems to be doing a great job the last month or so getting both guys good playing time.

1 run in a 3 game series, I wonder if the Reds have ever gone a full series without a run allowed, probably have a long time ago.

saw that the last consecutive complete games by Reds pitchers was vs. the Mets in 2003. 7/25 Danny Graves 7/26 Juan Acevedo

Has Reds pitching been that woeful? Yes

Wow pretty impressive by the Redlegs, I don't want to get my hopes up but rather just ride this little run they are on right now... If they are still in contention by All-Star break ... they need to make a deal... Still in contention by September then it's been a great season.... Go Reds

The reds need to keep winning too take my mind off the cavs sucking donkey balls.

Am I the only one that thinks the catching situation is perfect right now. Both players are hitting well, both are working very well with their pitchers and neither can get too tired out with this setup. If this is a problem, I hope we have more problems like it.

That seems like it is a little long to me. Who knows though.

The catching situation is perfect. It's a position that has really shifted in MLB. No longer do you expect great production from the spot as only very few teams have an elite hitter at catcher. Outside of those 3-5 teams, you need reliable game-callers and guys who can adequately fit into your given lineup. Hernandez is aging, but is a veteran who does have some decent career numbers, and a guy you don't have to hit in the 8th spot. Hanigan is proving himself to be a great #8 hitter who will take walks as much as have bad at-bats, and has surprisingly been productive with men on. Both are good signal callers and are average or better defensively.

Point agreed with though...catcher is solid for the Red Legs.

Yeah I'm OK with the rotation Dusty has been using with Ramon and Hanigan.

After game 1 which was a struggle, the Reds went on an ass kicking mission. Great to see, even if it is against the worst team in the Majors. The way Johnny pitched last night would have beat a lot of good teams and obviously Homer also today.

Houston whipping up on the Cardinals 6-1 in the 4th.

Cards have 2 errors tonight AZ, so I bet the reds passed them in fielding percentage.

Goooo Houston. What pitchers will the cards be throwing??
  • wildcats20
    Garcia, Wainwright, Penny.

    We have Harangatang, Leake, Bronson
  • dave
I can't believe I have to go to Cleveland this weekend, I'd be at all 3 games. If the Cavs play game 7 I guess it makes up for it.

If somehow Houston beats Carp tomorrow Friday's game will be for first place.
  • Mooney44Cards
Cards put 2 men on with 2 outs......guess who's at the plate?! Prince Albert.

    WALK HIM.
  • Mooney44Cards
Stros are able to survive and win it.......Reds are 1 game outta first place!

I'm too lazy to use the edit button.

April 24th, the Reds were DEAD LAST IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE. Not a bad turnaround eh? (that "eh?" was in honor of Canadian Joey Votto)

We win this weekend series and I am going to buy stock in The North Face. Hell is apparently a little colder tonight and will officially freeze over if in 3 weeks you can go from dead last to first in the central.
  • wildcats20
1 game back. 4 games over .500. 5 game winning streak, longest in Majors currently.

And we are STILL -6 in the run department...lol
