SportsAndLadyThirsty? Walk into Flannery's Pub on East Fourth and Prospect. Do not ask to see the wine list. And forget the Heineken. You can get a 24-ounce can of Pabst Blue Ribbon for a fin. If you give the barkeep a $10 bill, the guy won't look down on you and ask, "Do you need change with that?"
I can vouch for that. Great place. -
jordo212000He picked up on the bandwagon vibe. "Foofs and trendies are not welcome. Clevelanders buy gobs of team garb (Indians stuff in the golden '90s, Cavaliers in 2010, Browns always) and pray for a championship."
Cleveland always supports the Browns no matter what. But the Indians and Cavs are a completely different story. The Cavs were on the verge of moving before the got Lebron and ever since the Indians final sell out at the Jake during the good years, the support has been tepid -
cbus4lifeWhen will NCF show up on this thread...

I think in every city, you will see a declining popularity and outsourced money will continue to fall if the team is awful...and that is exactly how the Cavs were before Lebron and after their great teams in the early to mid 90's. I'm not saying there aren't bandwagon fans because there will always be bandwagon fans for every team when they are good, but most Cavs fans were just so depressed about how awful they were, why would they go out and spend money on them and continue to feed rich owners who couldn't supply a good team?
I'm not sure about the Indians though, I'm not too familiar with the affiliation the fans have had, seeing as how I am a Reds fan. -

Indians fans are particularly bandwagonny. I've never seen so many people whine about how little their team spends and then in the next breath talk about how they refuse to go to a game... and that the only time they will go is when they start winning. That doesn't make any sense. I didn't make that up either. There was a thread a few weeks ago where they were saying that.SportsAndLady wrote: Ehh, i dont know.

If I lived within an hour of the Indians (or Reds, who I root for) I'd be there several times a year. I'd love to go just so I can see the other teams stars play. -

I agree, and i'm not really arguing with you.. Just saying that you will pretty much find that everywhere..if the quality on the field is poor, so will the attendance and general feeling towards the team by the fans.jordo212000 wrote:

Swamp FoxDowntown Cleveland is actually very nice. I think the City Fathers have started to get it together and I enjoyed my last weekend conference in Cleveland. A pretty good choice of food places, local watering holes abound and the Flats is always a fun place to wile away a few hours. Cleveland is no longer so much the "mistake by the lake".

WriterbuckeyeThe only way fans can truly express their displeasure with how an operation is run -- is with their money and their feet. I have no problem when fans decide enough is enough and stop supporting a franchise because it has poor ownership.
Cleveland, of all major league cities, has probably had one of the worst owners in league history for each of its three sports teams.
I defy anyone to find three worse in one city than Art Modell, the Stouffer family and Ted Stepien. -
Al CaponeThis reporter is either blind, deaf, dumb, drunk, or on drugs. He has lost all credibility as a reporter. Cleveland deserves what they have period! They deserve nothing more! What's next out of this buffones mouth? Browns win the superbowl. hahaha

As for Cleveland, it's ok but it could be better. They need to take advantage of the lakefront and get rid of that pointless airport by the rock hall. They also need to give the flats a facelift. It's not as nice as say Columbus but I'd take it over a city like Detroit any day. -

Pretty sure the only city I wouldn't take over Detroit is Compton, and it's close!krazie45 wrote:

Save your fix. Until they do what the Stouffer family did for about 40 years, they don't qualify.krazie45 wrote:
