Jeremy Shockey goes off on LeBron

  • Glory Days
you call that contact in basketball?
  • elbuckeye28
I get what s&l is saying.

Randy Moss would be a small 2 guard size in the NBA. While he is athletic, he wouldn't be anything extraordinary. Lebron on the other hand, would be one of the tallest players in the league. On top of that, he has well above average speed, amazing leaping ability, and a football type body. He may not dominate right away, but he would contribute for sure.

The Usain Bolt comparison doesn't work either because he has never even played the sport. We don't know if he can catch or take any contact. Lebron has experience in football so he already has a feel for the game. Besides, although basketball is not near as physical as football, Lebron takes some big hits and still shows some amazing body control.

There is most definitely some good contact when a player continually drives to the basket.

I'd love to see you drive to the hoop on NBA centers/power forwards.

SQ_Crazies wrote: Um, no. Bolt is a runner, not a pure athlete like LeBron. He could be good, he's got good size and clearly he could blow by anyone in the league but I doubt it--talk about not being able to take hits. LeBron at least plays in a sport that is a contact, physical sport. And saying that shows a lot about you, it's just pure hatred for LeBron--that's the only reason. Jealousy is a funny thing.

And I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks LeBron wouldn't run under a 4.45 40 needs to check themselves into a mental institution. I bet he ran a 4.6 when he was a junior in high school. No one his size could ever run a 4.3? No one his size has ever been built like him. And I said 4.3's, I hope you didn't mean I meant 4.30. I don't think he could run a 4.3 flat, but I think he could break into the 3's.
Then check me in to said institution. I think he would come in at around the 4.5 mark, which is amazingly fast for a man his size.

His high school time is completely irrelevant. Was he 6'8" 270 lbs as a junior in high school?

You don't think he's faster than he was in high school?

No he is not. He has not grown up in height but he has put on a large amount of weight. There is no way he is faster now. NBA players don't work on speed like NFL guys do.

I think you are thinking that a 4.4 is not really that fast. Like I said before anything in the 4.3's is rare for anyone let alone a guy his size.
  • SQ_Crazies
LOL, wrong. I know 4.4 is fast. I've run with kids that can run a 4.4. I know what a 4.4 looks like.

How can you not think he's faster than he was in high school? I'm in worse shape, 30 pounds heavier and 3 inches taller than I was a senior and I'm faster than I was in high school. And I don't train for professional sports lol. He wasn't 6'8 270 as a junior in high school--he was probably about 6'6 and 230. Physically he's way above where he was in high school. This whole conversation is ridiculous--there is no way you can think that LeBron wouldn't crack 4.45. Running is about steps and quickness. He's going to take about 75% or less the amount of steps that most guys that are running in the 4.4's in the NFL and he's every bit as fast as them. LOL, how many times have we seen him half striding behind guys and stalking them down the court while they're in a dead sprint?

How about Lebron worry about winning that Championship for the Cavs instead of saying how great of a NFL player he would be?
I swear, Lebron could come out and say he can walk on water and the people in Ohio would believe him.

Dead sprint while dribbling is not possible so your last argument is off. All I am saying is when you gain weight you normally loose speed. That's why everything that has anything to do with speed has to do with weight. Cars, horse racing, and even track. When you gain weight even if it is solid muscle it is going to be hard to keep your speed. And like I said before the 4.4 was hand timed and we all know you have to add time to that.
  • SQ_Crazies
Cars? Really? Because I recently finished putting a new engine into a Chevelle. When all was complete, with everything we added, it put another 500 pounds onto the car. It would blow the doors off a replica of what it was before. Gained weight, way faster. Why? POWER. I bet LeBron is twice as strong as he was in high school. So you're wrong, anything and everything with speed does NOT have to do with weight--Usain Bolt, 210 pounds. Tyson Gay, 165 pounds. Do I need to continue?

But like I said, this argument is pointless for me at this point. I'm talking in circles. You say he was faster in high school, therefore your argument is completely shot to hell. I witnessed him play in high school many times, I've witnessed him play in the pros many times and his speed is undoubtedly faster than it was in high school.

And no, you wouldn't necessarily have to add time to a hand timed 40--you could have to subtract time from what it really was. That goes both ways, I won't put any stock into that high school 40 time because it was hand timed. He may have been faster, he may have been slower--either way it was probably pretty close but if its not electronic then I'm not going to use it in my argument.

And like I've already told you, I'm 30 pounds heavier than I was in high school (4 years removed). I'm in worse shape, I don't work out on a regular basis and I'm considerably faster than I was in high school. If you don't think a guy who has trained as a PROFESSIONAL athlete, not to mention trained probably about as hard as anyone, for 6 years is faster then I don't know what to tell you.

sure if you add 100 HP and 500 lbs than it will be faster but if you take way weight than the car will go faster. A car that ways 2000 LBS with 200 HP is not faster than one that weighs 1500 lbs and 200 hp. Its not like you added 500 lbs of steel to the trunk in a effort to make the car go faster the extra power is clearly worth it. I just don't think it is fair for you to guarantee he is faster when he has not ran the 40 in years. Sure he looks crazy fast but guys in the NBA are not that fast in comparison to guys in the NFL.
  • SQ_Crazies
LOL, keep stretching dude. No offense, but I've already made your argument look really stupid and like I said, as soon as you pulled out the "he was faster in high school line", you lost.
  • SQ_Crazies
And what about Bolt and Gay? I just proved to you that weight does not have everything to do with speed, ESPECIALLY when you're talking human beings.
  • Skyhook79
No use arguing with sq_crazies about anything Lebron. He is never wrong and everyone else is either an idiot, moron or plain stupid if you don't agree with him.

I am still waiting for a reply from sq_crazies about his "willing to bet" about Kobe being a top 5 scorer this year. Or were you just running your mouth again?
  • SQ_Crazies
I'm not going to bet you in anything for one reason--because I know you won't hold up your end. You disappear from a thread when your team drops a game, I know you wouldn't hold up your end.

And please tell me that you disagree with me in this argument too...please tell me that. Humor me again. I can't help it if people are dumb and I'm not shy about letting them know. This is one of the dumbest arguments I've ever been a part of, I can't even believe there is someone to argue with on this subject.

I know how this usually goes on the Huddle, but I was just talking about this with one of my buddies to goes to Walsh and played with one of LeBron's high school teammates. He asked him the question and the only response was "are you serious?".

SQ is a true meat rider holy shit, never seen someone so defensive about a mans 40 time

everything is not a game and there is no way you can prove he is faster unless he runs a 40 tomorrow, please stop making your self look like a jerk. Just because you think he is faster than he was back then does not make me wrong or right. Also I am not the only one who thinks he does not have 4.3 speed, look at the other posts. You said he is faster and since he ran a 4.4 in HS than he must run a 4.3 now. So anyone who thinks Lebron would not be able to run a 4.3 is wrong. All hail the King James.
  • SQ_Crazies
    You disagree with me too?

Wait, you've got Kobe's meat so far inside you I already know the answer to that.
  • SQ_Crazies
I don't think he is faster. I know he is faster.
  • SQ_Crazies
Anyone in their right mind knows he is faster...I mean really, if you disagree with me then PLEASE share whatever it is you're smoking.

SQ_Crazies wrote: I don't think he is faster. I know he is faster.
Again how do you know this?

He has not ran it sense then. Saying a guy is fast because he is fast on a basketball court is a whole different situation than fast on a track and that's where 40 yard dashes are ran.

I dont disagree with at all Lebron is a one of a kind athlete. But I just find it funny that you will defend him to the death no matter what especially when his 40 time doesn't even matter in his sport. So you are a true meat rider

LOL and because it does not matter I find it hard to believe that his time would be a 4.3.
  • Strapping Young Lad
SQ, you still going to crush on Lebron when he's in NY next season, w/ Jay-Z????
  • SQ_Crazies
Yeah, and 40 yard dashes on a track or in a control setting--running in a straight line with no pads on are completely irrelevant to football speed as well, yet everyone gets so excited about them. I don't have to see him run a 40 to know he is faster than he was in high school. Seriously dude, whatever you're smoking, I want some.
