Browns say they have talked to Rams about #1 pick
-
jordo212000Holmgren said that they have been talking to the Rams about trading up to the #1 spot so that they could take Bradford. He wasn't too optimistic that a deal would get done though. The Browns have like 10 picks that they could use to make it worth the Rams while

SQ_CraziesHey, I like it. If you're committed to drafting a QB you might as well go for the consensus #1. Are the scouts wrong sometimes? Sure. But they make a living doing this. I still don't agree with drafting a QB, but if they're committed to doing that then they have to make a run at the top guy.

Hmm Perhaps the idiocy will continue.jordo212000 wrote: Holmgren said that they have been talking to the Rams about trading up to the #1 spot so that they could take Bradford. BR1986FBI like Bradford a lot but the Browns don't have the luxury of sitting down a 1st round pick. They need players that will make an immediate impact.

THE4RINGZWasn't Tim Couch and overall #1 pick for the browns?
My first attempt at thread shitting just went pretty well. IMO -

The Browns had 24 draft picks in 1999 and 2000 and the dumb fuckers running the draft didn't draft an O-Lineman to protect their "franchise QB" until the 6th round of 2000. An untrained monkey could have thrown a dart blindfolded at a dartboard and drafted better than Clark & Policy.
Couch wasn't going to be a HOFer but he probably would have been more than serviceable had he not been one of the most sacked QB's of all time. Things are a little different now. We have a pretty decent O-Line. -
THE4RINGZI know there Pirate, you and I have discussed that situation before. Couch's career got fucked by Butch Davis. Enough said.
I was just trying my hand at stirring the pot. Something I never do, but saw a golden opportunity. -

jpake1I don't like Bradford as a #1. Honestly, I'm not really high on any of the QB's in this draft.
-
royal_kJust watched ome of the press conference from today. It doesn't sound like they will move up to get Bradford. Holmgren said something like.. "not mortgaging the future."
-
NonIt seems like the Browns are planning to pick everybody and stay at No. 7 and trade up to No. 1.
-
SQ_CraziesTim Couch was a good QB no matter what anyone has to say about him.
-
devil1197Yeah, Couch got royally screwed by getting selected without any sort of offensive line protection.

SageI figure they inquired, Mangini rubbed his chin, and said "Fuck this."
On draft day, when Goodell walks to the podium, you're going to hear the glass shatter and Stone Cold anthem's kick, and Mangini, frothing at the mouth, is going to come out, hit Goodell with a chair, chug a Natural Light, and then declare, "ALL UR PICKZ BELONG TO UZ" -

Dude you had it right until the chair. If he pulls out Stone Cold's music, he has to lay down a stunner.Sage wrote: I figure they inquired, Mangini rubbed his chin, and said "Fuck this."

jpake1The stone cold stunner. I gave a few of those to some childhood friends. No wonder one of them held a grudge and didn't invite me back to his flag football team.
-
SQ_CraziesHahahahaha...they needed us to win the title, we know it and they know it.
-
jpake1They hated on me from the moment I came out of retirement and took the first catch of the year 60yds for 6pts. I should have been on the field throwing the ball over them damn mountains like Uncle Ricco! Okay, enough with the nonsense.
-
SQ_CraziesDare I say that you and I would have been 10 times the QB/WR tandem that he and the cracker were? LMAO!
-
FabioNo way they do this with how deep this draft is in terms of offensive lineman and defense in general. I would really, really, really not want them to draft a QB in the first round, especially with all the talent that's available at pick 7 or the ability to trade down, get more picks, and potentially snag earl thomas. If we can improve our defense through this draft, especially our secondary, and get a project QB in round 2 or 3, then I'll be happy.
Rob Ryan has shown he can produce a competitive defense with no talent on there, hell I bet if they weren't on the field so much due to our offense being horrible then they'd get more credit. We give Ryan the talent he needs on defense to succeed then I don't care if we have Neil O'Donnell back at QB, so long as we score more points than the other team and don't draft in the top 10 anymore, I'll be happy. -
NonI think Eric Berry is worth trading up to get.
They might get him anyway but it's something the Browns should try and get a feel for, what the teams ahead are planning to do.
Kansas City looks like the team that might be interested at No. 5.
Washington is at No. 4 and they could use some more draft picks. They don't have a second round (McNabb trade) or a third round (supplemental).
Cleveland may want to trade with Washington. Swap 1st rounders and give up one of the three 3rd rounders.
They would get Berry and then have eight picks -- 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 5th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 6th. To me that's looks like more than enough to get some other work done but you start off the draft getting an elite defensive player, a difference maker. -
wes_mantooth^^^How does that work though? I mean, what does the "book" call for when moving up a few spots? Is swapping a 1st and giving up a 3rd enough?....I am ignorant on the draft "rules"
-
pkebkerBradford would be nice to have, but the rumored asking price is way too high (swap 1st's and give up next year's 1st). I think we can get a very good player at 7. Or we could trade down and get more picks this year (or next year) and still get a decent player who can contribute. Those sound like much better ideas than trading up for Bradford at that asking price.
-
BR1986FBSwapping 1st's and a 3rd to move up to get Berry is about right. The way that Holmgren/Heckert value these picks, they probably scoff at the 3rd though.
