Game 2: Cards vs. Reds

  • mhs95_06
Reds tie it with a big homer by Cabrerra, and the ump lets Wainwright out of the inning on a bad call to K BP. Then the new Reds ptichers fail at what Cueto got thru masterfully three times, the 1,2,3 hitters!

The RBI single to Pujols was inevitable. He was due.

But everything leading up to it and the hit by Holliday isn't acceptable.

Thank God Rhodes is in and not Lincoln. Maybe we will see Lincoln in the 8th.

Part of me doesn't like Paul. I feel like I'm listening to an OSU event. Granted OSU would be winning and this is a Reds game.

Intentionally walk Freese so Wainwright either has to bat, or he is done pitching.
  • CinciX12
Another run comes across on a single into center for Freese.

6-2 Cards. Lets try not to get swept tomorrow?

That doesn't make sense, who are you to question the baseball mind of Dusty Baker?

God damnit that was the ONLY logical call to make in that situation, and Dusty once again has time advance past his bedtime and has quit his duties as manager.

God damnit I hate saying that damn phrase..I mean seriously, it's like the official saying of the Cincinnati Reds.

A good thought, but the negative of that is that everyone you pitch around other than Pujols, brings Albert back to the plate that much sooner.

The Reds bullpen is killing me. Ondrusek looked good the other day, but he was a little shaky tonight. Looks like Dusty should probably hand the ball to Arthur Rhodes in tight situations

Throw around everyone and then throw at Pujols. Damnit you make them either commit to Wainwright another inning or pinch hit for him and maybe we can get some runs against the bullpen. I bet Wainwright goes at least 8 now.

I mean yeah that sucks, but it doesn't outweigh the positives that come from getting Wainwright out of the game.

They are on 24 if you have Time Warner, the Jackets are on 33.

    Don't bother watching now lol

Unless you'd like to see Wainwright maybe throw a complete game against us?

This tight calling umpire, except the call-out of Phillips, caused that run due to not giving the pitch before to Rhodes.

Earlier the announcer said that pitchers don't mind tight calling umpires, so long as they are consistent. I say that is bunk! Why would they not like wide strike zone umpires better? ERAs have to be higher with tight callers, and ERA is a critical thing in the pay of a pitcher.

Keels keeps calling the snuggies "fleeceys" haha. I don't think he has ever seen a snuggie before, I'm not sure how he accomplished that. He was like "oh, it has sleeves!" Haha

Completely agree. Granted it would have only made the count 1-2, but maybe he wouldn't have came at him with fastball on the next pitch.

Masset in now. We avoided the curse of Lincoln and still lost. Have to take advantage of the games where he sits on his worthless ass out in the bullpen.

I don't think they were going to take Wainwright out of the game if they walked Freese. He only had 83 pitches and already a 3 run lead! With the Cardinals bullpen, I'd want Wainwright in there as long as possible. If you get Freese out, then you have a chance to get them out 1,2,3 the next inning without facing Pujols, and then you could face him with no one on to start the 9th.
  • CinciX12
    Albert Pujols just struck out.

On a night where we hold the guy to 1-5, we are down 4 runs. Makes sense.
  • mhs95_06
I think the reason why Dusty didn't start with Rhodes in the 7th was he was thinking he didn't want the shell-shocked Masset in there in a close game if he could avoid it and tried to get thru the 7th with Herrera and Ondrusek, so he could then go with Rhodes in the 8th and Corderro in the 9th. Now Massett got in and is getting back some confidence by going 1,2,3 with the top of the order, finishing with a K of Pujols.

    Double for Ramon.
  • mhs95_06
What is Nix doing with those big swings! We need baserunners!
  • CinciX12
And the next 2 batters go down like bitches.
