iPhone X

  • justincredible
Apple announced the iPhone 8 (meh) and the iPhone X today. I am pretty impressed with the X, I love the fact that almost the entirety of the front is a screen. I'm currently using a Galaxy S7 Edge but it's been crapping out on me a lot lately. I'm not eligible for a new phone until next June (work buys me a new one every two years) but I'll likely get the X, or the next iteration of it at that point.

About fucking time they went edge to edge, way overdue.

I will probably go to the 8, from my 6s. The price tag(starting at $999) for the X is just too much for me.

i'll get the X, but i want to see a few folks using it first to see how well it looks in a case as well as let the day 1 issues get worked out by someone else.

Yeah it'll be 4 months or so before I get something new. The first batch always has issues.

I loathe the lack of a standard headphone jack.

    Get wireless headphones.

If work didn't pay for it I'd have trouble dropping that much coin.

Galaxy note 8 hit stores also. It is pretty sweet looking.

I would have thought that you would being an endurance biker. I think it prevents the wires getting loose somewhere on the ride.

The current airpods only work for up to 5 hours, that's not good enough. Plus I have yet to meet a person who doesn't worry about losing them. At this stage, they're a non option for me.

    Then get something else?

I have the Beats( I know, I know) wireless Powerbeats and love them. I haven't used corded headphones in a few years.

I currently have the Sprint "iPhone forever" plan. The phone is a lease and I can a new one every 12 months. I'm almost certain this won't apply to the X when it's time to trade in.

Yeah, I doubt ATT's trade in plan will apply to the X as well.

I read the description for the X and don't see what makes it worth $999.

Wireless headphones are the only option of headphones for me. I usually use the bigger muffs, but go with the buds if I'm on a plane and try to sleep. Regardless, haven't had a cord in a long time.

Cords suck, for sure. I can't tell you the last time I used the headphone jack on my phone. It's likely I haven't used it in the 15 months I've had the phone, so the lack of one on the iPhone is not an issue for me.

Old habits die hard. They need to make wireless headphones that last 12+ hours. Maybe they do now since last time I checked in on them.

I'm with you, I prefer wired earbuds. I just don't want to deal with charging another device. I have them in at last 3 hours/day.

I'ma bout to pull the trigger on these, solely for the gym, but only 4-6 hour battery life.

I'm with COA and Auto. I tried the wireless headphones and it's a pain in the ass to charge them. Not to mention if you forget to charge them and then the headphones die mid workout it blows.

    $999? Get over yourself, Apple.

That might actually be good for me when lifting/running/biking. I might cop a pair just for that.

At the gym, the cords don't get in the way, but can't hurt to not have them I suppose.
