It's crazy that Jose isn't far behind.

Man, what a monster. The smaller one is the the devasting Hurricane Andrew in '92(?), and the MUCH larger one is Irma.

If anyone's bored, check out the Living Earth app especially on an iPad or tablet. You can see the weather anywhere in the world but it also shows tropical storms/hurricanes/typhoons specifically. It gives a great perspective how big the storm is, especially in comparison to Jose behind it.

Is that a hurricane for ants?

down to a Cat 3....hopefully there's a ton of disappointed newscasters.
  • SportsAndLady
Didn't they say it's supposed to pick up though to a cat 4 again?

Not sure. Not uncommon for storms to regain strength over warm, open water. Still saying 10-15 foot storm surge in Naples, which is just unbelievable.

So much truth to this, lol.

I've seen some speculating it could get near a 5 again once away from Cuba and into warmer waters. Key west is going to get rocked. Water and wind are already there and it's probably 12 hours before the hurricane gets there. Hopefully it doesn't hurt too many people but it seems like a good amount didn't leave, and this new target of Tampa is really only 24 hour or so old so hard to get out in that time if not prepared.

Last I've heard it's right at a high 3, possibly low cat 4. Not sure how much difference a few MPH will make.

Newscaster was talking to a guy in a hurricane proof high rise. On like the 25th floor, and the newscaster says "aren't you nervous - I think I'd want to be in the lobby".

The whole Ron Burgundy thing is pretty on the money - these people are good at READING and speaking the news, but you probably don't want to know what they're thinking.

Power been out since noon. Love my wife but shit it's getting boring. Went to the grocery store (less than half a mile away) and got some beer and ice. We have no flooding but a shit ton of rain and wind and downtown and the beaches had a pretty large storm surge and flooded pretty good, and we weren't even close to the storm. Jose needs to gtfo of coming close to here.

You did good, iclfan2. And I will make sure you get Tribe score updates.

A little south of you, at Richmond Hill, GA, I saw a video from the owner of the Fort McAllister marina reataurant. They got slammed pretty hard and were worried about high tide since the water was up over the docks. He thought that power would be restored in a few hours and said that all in all, it wasn't as bad as last year's Matthew around there.

We got lucky in here in the Sarasota/Bradenton as the storm turned east and made landfall 100 miles south of us. We had winds of the 90 mph range instead of 120 to 130, still sucked though. Most of the area has downed trees, a few shingles/siding stripped from homes, loss of power, and some flooding. I lost power around 6pm last night and was restored by 1pm today, lost a few trees, and some shingles. The winds were intense but not not frightening, went to bed as the eye wall passed just to the east of us. This could have been a lot worse, storm shutters and a stationary/stand by generator are on my radar as a near future purchase.
